    Aitchison c Holden b Roland-Jones 112 (Middx v Derbys 338-6)

Finally, finally, the night watchman goes for 112 as Ben Aitchison lifts his bat to all corners of Lord's.

What an excellent effort it has been with some superb shots, especially into the off side.

Aitchison is applauded by his teammates and the MCC members in the pavilion.

The damage has been done - what a terrific two days he has had.

He is caught by Max Holden off the bowling of Toby Roland-Jones.

  5. 200 up for Essexpublished at 15:18 BST 16 May

    Essex 200-7 v Leics 333

Michael Pepper tickles Ajaz Patel round the corner for a single as the Essex total reaches 200. No danger of following on now, so Pepper and Wiaan Mulder can focus on building a substantial partnership.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:17 BST 16 May

    Slater c Potgieter b Baker 48 (Notts 85-2 v Hampshire 214)

    Big wicket for Hampshire!

Two runs shy of his half-century, Ben Slater pulls Sonny Baker straight to Delano Potgieter at square leg.

It was back of a length and Slater obliged. He and Freddie McCann (28*) had been ticking along rather comfortably.

Joe Clarke joins McCann at the crease.

  7. Postpublished at 15:17 BST 16 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 48-1

Kent keeping faith with their new-ball pair of James Taylor and Matt Milnes, who are doing a pretty decent job so far.

Poor fielding at mid-on, though, gifts Alex Lees four runs as Taylor completes his sixth over with figures of 0-18.

  8. Women's One Day Cup updatepublished at 15:15 BST 16 May

Warwickshire are chasing 239 to beat Yorkshire at Scarborough and have moved on to 80-2 in 18 overs after losing Georgia Redmayne to the first ball of the innings, run out by Jess Woolston.

Surrey need another186 runs to beat Lancashire at the Oval with nine wickets and 41 overs in hand.

Meanwhile Durham have the better of the game currently against Somerset at Chester-le-Street, where the visitors are on 57-2 in the 14th over, chasing 293.

  9. 200 runs

    200 partnershippublished at 15:10 BST 16 May

    Middx 177 v Derbys 330-5

It's a Ben Aitchison masterclass at the moment and Middlesex can not stop leaking runs right now.

Aitchison crunches another through the off side to move onto 110 not out and his partnership with Wayne Madsen is now worth 200.

  10. Postpublished at 15:06 BST 16 May

    Essex 187-7 v Leics 333

Josh Hull is bowling some challenging deliveries at Chelmsford - but also learning there is no margin for error against the best.

He is fractionally too full at the end of his latest over, and Wiaan Mulder clips it away through mid-on for four.

A maiden first-class century for nightwatchman Ben Aitchison - at Lord's too.

Do Saturday's get any better than that?

What a superb knock from Aitchison - who starred with the ball yesterday as well to help put his side in such a strong position.

He crunches one into the off side for a boundary to move onto 101 not out as his teammates come out to the balcony to applaud his efforts. It's a big celebration by Aitchison in the middle as well, as you might imagine.

  12. Postpublished at 15:03 BST 16 May

    Warwickshire 76-2 v Glamorgan 360

A loose delivery by Ryan Hadley, on the legs of Dan Mousley, is unceremoniously pulled away for four.

That was sandwiched by a couple of smart cover drives by Warwickshire's number three batter.

On 21, Mousley is getting a feel for this and is beginning to play some very decent shots.

  13. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Headingleypublished at 14:58 BST 16 May

    Yorks 486 v Surrey 0-0

After seeming to be just a passing shower, the rain is now a little heavier and there's no change in proceedings at Headingley currently.

An hour has passed since the players and umpires initially walked to the crease before they turned back and headed into the pavilion due to what did seem to be just a light shower at the time.

    Frustration all round.

  14. Postpublished at 14:56 BST 16 May

    Essex 174-7 v Leics 333

High-class stroke by Wiaan Mulder, who thumps Josh Hull to the cover boundary. Two balls later, he threatens a repeat but is kept to a single by the fielder on rope duty.

  15. Postpublished at 14:54 BST 16 May

    Notts 62-1 v Hampshire 214

Sonny Baker is getting the ball to swing plenty - so much so that this one delivery to Ben Slater moves so late past the bat that, to the naked eye, it appeared as though keeper Ben Brown put down a catching opportunity.

Slater and Freddie McCann come through for a run, which the umpire signals as a bye.

McCann then stylishly cuts Baker away to the boundary.

  16. Postpublished at 14:54 BST 16 May

    Kent 523 v Durham 22-1

Alex Lees cover drives Matt Milnes for four and then runs the paceman down to third man for three runs.

Amid all this talk of England call-ups, it's easy to forget Lees played 10 Tests in 2022.

  18. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:50 BST 16 May

    Middx 177 v Derbys 300-5

Oh this just hasn't been Middlesex's day so far.

Sam Robson tosses one up and there's a thick outside edge from Ben Aitchison, now in the nineties, who looks to cut away to the boundary backward of point but can only edge to wicket-keeper Harry Duke - who can't hold on.

Another dropped catch for the home side.

A single with the fifth ball of Robson's first over from Aitchison then brings up Derbyshire's 300.

    That one is out though.

A bit of late movement for Josh Hull and Charlie Allison edges to the keeper, bringing Michael Pepper to the crease.

Essex are still 172 behind so the follow-on remains a possibility for now.

  20. Postpublished at 14:44 BST 16 May

Nearly another wicket for Ben Mike but an edge by Wiaan Mulder doesn't quite carry to second slip.
