    Hampshire 164-7 v Notts

That is a lovely shot from Kyle Abbott, through the covers for four, after surviving a decent LBW shout from Fergus O'Neill earlier in the over.

He then retains the strike with a flick down to deep backward square leg for a single from the final delivery of the over.

  2. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Bristolpublished at 11:14 BST 16 May

    Gloucs 154 v Northants 46-4

That didn't last long. Less than 15 minutes in fact.

Long enough for Gloucestershire to get a fourth wicket though and one feels that Northants will be the happier of the two teams to go off.

  3. Postpublished at 11:13 BST 16 May

    Somerset 344-5 v Sussex

Four runs to Craig Overton but not entirely convincing as he almost loses balance on a drive and gets a big inside edge off Henry Crocombe to fine leg.

Crocombe subsequently beats him outside off stump.

Decent pace there, just passing 85 mph.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:12 BST 16 May

    Milnes c Lees b Potts 4 (Kent 389-7 v Durham)

Kent have well and truly lost their way.

Matthew Potts takes his third wicket in the innings as Matt Milnes edges and Alex Lees moves to huis left to take a good, low catch.

Three wickets for four runs added so far this morning.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:11 BST 16 May

    Elgar c Holland b Green 14 (Essex 20-2 v Leics 333)

Poor shot by Dean Elgar, who fails to get over the top of a cover drive and hits Ben Green into the hands of Ian Holland at cover.

Important breakthrough for Leicestershire but Jamie Porter produces an off-drive later in the over which belies his nightwatchman status and runs away for four.

  6. Postpublished at 11:10 BST 16 May

    Gloucs 154 v Northants 46-4

Luke Procter picks up three runs, driving Gabe Bell through cover - and Saif Zaib picks up his first runs with a neat drive down the ground for four.

He leaves a seaming delivery that pitches just a touch outside the line of off. Two slips in here.

    Over bowled.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:09 BST 16 May

    Bairstow c Clark b Fisher 120 (Yorks 367-5 v Surrey)

Jonny Bairstow finally goes for a wonderful 120 from 198 deliveries as former Yorkshire bowler Matthew Fisher claims his fourth wicket.

Bairstow chips off his legs to Jordan Clark who makes an excellent diving catch at mid-wicket.

Bairstow, predictably, gets a warm applause from the Yorkshire crowd for a terrific knock. His fifth-wicket partnership with Adam Lyth was worth 246 in total.

George Hill is now in for the White Rose as the sun comes out at Headingley.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:09 BST 16 May

    Benjamin c Aldridge b Potts 6 (Kent 385-6 v Durham)

A late change of mind proves fatal for Chris Benjamin.

After shaping to defend, he decides to take the bat away but doesn't do it quick enough and the ball glances off it and into the hands of Kasey Aldridge at slip.

Kent have now lost five wickets for 21 runs since the dismissal of Sam Northeast for 141 yesterday.

  9. Postpublished at 11:08 BST 16 May

    Essex 20-1 v Leics 333

A boundary each for Dean Elgar and Jamie Porter at the start of day two at Chelmsford.

Elgar strokes Ben Green effortlessly through the covers, but porter is fortunate as a thick edge off Ian Holland flies just wide of third slip and away to third man.

  10. Run out chancepublished at 11:08 BST 16 May

    Yorkshire 367-4 v Surrey

Horrible mix-up for Yorkshire - but they get away with it!

Adam Lyth is caught two thirds of the way down the crease and is sent back to the non-striker's end by Jonny Bairstow.

A direct hit and Adam Lyth would have been a goner - trapped on 139 - but he is relieved to see the ball miss the off stump by a whisker.

The following delivery is paddled into the leg side by Bairstow for a couple as he moves to 120 not out.

  11. Postpublished at 11:07 BST 16 May

    Somerset 336-5 v Sussex

Single to Tom Abell and now he's going to face... Tom Clark.

No Ollie Robinson first up this morning.

Tom Abell tries to turn the ball into the on side but doesn't get it past Henry Crocombe at mid on.

In case we didn't mention it earlier, Crocombe is in the England Lions squad for the second four-day game v South Africa A, which will be played in Beckenham from May 29th.

And now he's going to bowl.

  12. Five-wicket haul for O'Neill!published at 11:06 BST 16 May

    Hampshire 153-7 v Notts

Fergus O'Neill has his Nottinghamshire five-fer with the final ball of his first over of the day!

It is pitched pretty full to Delano Potgieter, who simply helps it to the safe hands of mid-off, where Haseeb Hameed waits. An ideal start for Notts, not so for the hosts.

  14. Delay at Edgbastonpublished at 11:04 BST 16 May

    Glamorgan 341-8 v Warwickshire

We await the start of play at Edgbaston. It has been announced that there is a delay, but it has not been specified as to why.

It certainly is not raining at the moment, although the forecast this afternoon is ominous indeed.

The hover cover remains on and the ground-staff are in discussions with the umpires.

  15. Day Two underway in Tauntonpublished at 11:04 BST 16 May

    Somerset 335-5 v Sussex

Tom Abell continues his outstanding form into this game and takes strike on 74 not out.

He will face Tom Haines to begin the day's play.

Craig Overton is at the non-striker's end on 26.

This is a decent pitch despite the visible shade of green. Even so, early wickets are a must for Sussex.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:03 BST 16 May

    McSweeney LBW b Taylor 6 (Gloucs 154 v Northants 39-4)

We actually started at 10.59 here and Nathan Mcsweeney works his first ball to wide mid on for a couple.

He plays and misses with a big drive.

He's across his stumps and the ball angles in and strikes in front of middle and leg.

Sliding down? No - the umpire has given him out.

Success in the first over of Day Two for Matt Taylor and Saif Zaib is in early.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:02 BST 16 May

    Dawkins b Raine 180 (Kent 385-5 v Durham)

Oh dear - the text commentator's curse strikes early.

Ben Raine goes straight through Ben Dawkins' defence with one that keeps just a little low and flattens off stump.

The Kent opener batted for 380 minutes in total, faced 302 balls and hit a six and 21 fours.

Slightly bad news to inform you about from Southport.

Start on day two has been delayed as showers pass over from the Irish Sea.

Lancashire supporters will hope they pass over quickly after making a promising start yesterday.

  19. Underway at Southamptonpublished at 11:02 BST 16 May

    Hampshire 153-6 v Notts

We are underway at Southampton, where Delano Potgieter has taken a single off the first delivery of the day, from Josh Tongue. He has bowled his three remaining balls to complete the over which carried over from last night.

  20. Postpublished at 11:01 BST 16 May

    Kent 385-4 v Durham

Two Bens in direct opposition at he start of day two in Beckenham - Ben Raine bowling to Ben Dawkins, who is 181 not out.

It was a monumental effort on day one by the 19-year-old - and he'll very much have a double century in his sights.
