When you have got a new ball in your hand with the likes of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, you're going to get it.

I like this approach from England, and they should keep going.

Let's see how they get on with the new ball, Seb...

Australia are looking more rattled by the second. Maybe it's the duo of Stokes and Archer like yesterday which is creating anger.

Nicely played by Jofra Archer, waiting for the ball outside off from Nathan Lyon and playing the cut very late.

He gets two for that and then keeps out the last delivery.

Second new ball is available and Australia take it immediately.

Jofra Archer before this series his Test average was seven. That has gone up above 11 now.

Outside of Test cricket, he averages 31.

England have done a pretty decent job this morning, that's for sure. A good little partnership between these two.

Jofra Archer is just showing a few of the fellas up in the dugout how to play.

Cheers from the England fans in Adelaide as the tourists get an overthrow.

Jofra Archer had blocked the ball into the off side, Ben Stokes started to run but turned back after a loud shout of "NO!" from his partner.

Good call but they get the single anyway as Josh Inglis' throw misses and runs through to long on.

Four more. Too straight from Cameron Green and Archer glances it away fine. More cheers from the England contingent.

The boundary in Nathan Lyon's previous over was only the second reverse sweep/switch hit played by Ben Stokes in this Ashes.

Across the four Test matches he featured against India in the home summer earlier this year, Stokes had played 25 of these unorthodox shots.

I want every single batter in this England camp to watch Stokes and Archer with intent. This is how you should be batting!

Swing and a miss from Jofra Archer... and the ball turns sharply past leg stumps for byes.

Nathan Lyon has his hands on his head as Ben Stokes sprints through for the third.

Stokes nudges a single to leg before Archer tries to cut and sees the ball slide just past the edge.

Positive vibes and positive thoughts. But England are playing nicely.

This pitch is still a bit of a flat pitch.

Cameron Green draws the first real false shot of the day as Jofra Archer plays and misses with a bit of a prod outside off.

No harm done for England, though, with two singles coming from the over.

Can see this maiden Archer ton a mile off, three men on the boundary for the tenth man. We’ve got them scared!

That's the second boundary off Nathan Lyon today. He only conceded three boundaries in 22 overs yesterday.

    Brilliant shot from Ben Stokes.

He gets down and nails a reverse sweep over backward point, a couple of bounces for four.

Four overs until the second new ball is available.

There is a good covering of grass out there. It looks like a good wicket. It is taking a little bit of turn, but we have not seen a lot of swing in this match. I think it is still a very good batting surface.

Jofra Archer takes on a bumper from Cameron Green and moves to a Test best 40 not out with a hook to fine leg for one.

Ben Stokes guides the ball through backward point for a single to complete the scoring for the over.

This partnership is now worth 71.

Three singles from Nathan Lyon's latest as England keep the scoreboard ticking over.

It has been a positive start from the tourists and Australia are bringing on Cameron Green to try and put a stop to it.

Ben Stokes' 159-ball half century here is the slowest of his Test career. It's also the slowest fifty of the 154 times an English batter has gone past the landmark since Brendon McCullum took over in June 2022.

Along with the two slowest fifties in the Bazball era (both in his past two innings) - Stokes also has the fastest fifty in this regime (24-ball fifty against West Indies in Birmingham, 2024)
