Feel for Jofra here, he's put in a mammoth batting effort and then asked to immediately take the new ball, not surprised he’s a bit wayward.

Better end to the over but still eight from it.

Next decision for Ben Stokes, who will share the new ball?

It looks like he's sticking with Brydon Carse.

We saw with the new ball when Australia took it, that it did a bit more than the old ball. Can England make it count before lunch?

    Wayward from Jofra Archer.

His third legal delivery strays well down leg past Jake Weatherald and away for four byes.

A second no-ball of the over follows, making it an expensive over to start.

Right then, the players are back out and it's a quick turnaround for Jofra Archer.

He is straight back into the action with the new ball in hand.

There are 20 minutes until lunch. A good chance for England to try and get stuck into the Australia top-order.

England have to come out and bowl well. They need to find a bit more consistency and a bit more patience.

If England are to stay in this series, they have to do it now.

Jofra Archer does hold the key.

Well, I guess most England supporters would have taken that, if it had been offered before the first ball this morning.

Right. Marker down. We need Aussies at 100-6 to even this out. Godspeed lads.

England added 73 runs this morning and while they are still well behind in this game, they have at least given themselves an opportunity to try and do something special.

Ben Stokes showed all the resilience that fans have wanted to see from this team and arguably deserved a century.

He fell 17 short of that after putting on 106 with Jofra Archer, who added a first Test fifty to his five-for with the ball.

A wicket or two before lunch and England might just believe the comeback is on...

England have shown grit and determination.

Jofra Archer has moved his feet well and got behind the ball well. On that shot he didn't move his feet to drive the ball through the covers, but he has been brilliant out there.

It will be interesting to see if he comes out and takes the new ball.

That does it for the England innings.

Scott Boland returns and tempts Jofra Archer with a full ball outside off.

The England man drives at it, gets an outside edge and the ball carries comfortably to Marnus Labuschagne at slip.

Excellent knock from Archer, who along with Ben Stokes, has given England a glimmer of hope.

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer become only the fifth and sixth English players in Ashes history to be involved in 70+ partnerships on two occasions for the ninth or 10th wicket.

For their previous instances before this partnership, Stokes put on 76* with Jack Leach in that famous victory in Headingley in 2019. Archer out on 70 for the last wicket with Joe Root in Brisbane in this series.

All the England fans will be feeling a little more optimistic compared to yesterday evening.

There was rumours Jofra Archer could bat. He got six first-class fifties and he has finally shown what he is about.

The deficit is below 90 now.

Four leg byes to start Mitchell Starc's over. A little too straight and with Jofra Archer well across his stumps, the ball brushes his hip and runs away to the rope.

    Lovely shot from Josh Tongue.

Just leaning on one from Pat Cummins and driving through the covers for two.

When the Australia captains gets a bit straight, he then casually flicks the ball through backward square leg for a couple more.

England still chipping away at Australia's lead.
