Travis Head is looking a worry now. If he stays in for any length of time, Australia will be clipping along. He likes to score quickly. England have been unlucky after lunch.

  2. Aus 45-1published at 13 overs

Travis Head knocks Josh Tongue's opening delivery past point and sets off for a sharp two, with a pair of singles following from the next two deliveries.

We're going to have a change at the other end - Will Jacks is going to come on to replace Brydon Carse.

  3. Aus 41-1published at 12 overs

Brydon Carse delivers a ball onto the pads of Travis Head and the Australia opener tucks in, whipping the ball away through mid-wicket for four.

Josh Tongue gives chase but he's not beating that shot to the rope.

What we don't want is Travis Head in for a session because he will score quickly, and he will start taking the game away from England.

  5. Aus 33-1published at 11 overs

Ah yes, Jofra Archer is coming out of the attack, with Josh Tongue taking his place.

Travis Head sends the third ball of the over to the boundary at backward point - that's the first four of the session and of the opener's innings.

Anything between 250-300 and we have got a chance of winning, but anything over 350, and it will be more unlikely. Never say never with this England side.

Jamie Smith has taken a lot around his ankles. That should be a little bit of a clue.

The whole fielding unit, it starts with the keeper.

  8. Aus 26-1published at 10 overs

Brydon Carse, bowling a touch wide of the crease, closes his fifth over by angling in a delivery that beats the bat of Marnus Labuschagne.

The Durham seamer is looking rather threatening today.

I have got a ticket for day three in Melbourne. This morning I’ve allowed myself a small dream of seeing England make it 2-2 at the MCG. A boy has to dream.

  10. Aus 25-1published at 9 overs

Just a single off Jofra Archer's fifth over of the day.

The England seamer is in the low 80mphs at the moment, I imagine England will likely rotate him soon even though his spell has been broken by the lunch interval.

Even when you have seen a gap between bat and ball, you're still not sure if you are trusting Snicko now.

    Aus 24-1

    No, nothing there, I'm afraid.

A little murmur on Snicko, but no distinctive spike at any point as the ball passes Marnus Labuschagne - you can't give that.

Still, Brydon Carse is evidently troubling Labuschagne, who goes on to leave the last delivery of the over alone.

I don't know if Jamie Smith is keen about that, but Brydon Carse was.

With one second to go, they have gone for a review!

    Another edge?!

Brydon Carse appeals for a caught behind off Marnus Labuschagne, but both he and Jamie Smith seem unsure after the initial excitement.

Ben Stokes comes in and shouts with urgency for confirmation, then signals for a review at the last possible moment.

  15. Aus 23-1published at 7 overs

Marnus Labuschagne knocks Jofra Archer to point for a couple of runs, then takes a single through mid-wicket.

Here's how Archer dismissed Labuschagne and Cameron Green on day one - England will be manifesting another couple of sloppy shots such as these.

So, England need both Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne out before Australia get past the 50 mark. Bowl well, and hope Alex Carey used up his luck in the first innings. Easy peasy.

  17. Aus 19-1published at 6 overs

A couple of singles from the first over after the lunch interval.

It was a strong start from Brydon Carse, but not quite up to the post-lunch over from Jofra Archer on day one, when both Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green were dismissed in the space of three balls.

Jofra Archer will continue from the other end.

Luckily for Marnus Labuschagne, the lack of pace in the pitch has saved him.

That is why Jamie Smith didn't celebrate. Boos around the ground...

    Carried, it did not.

A decent ball from Brydon Carse gets no reward.
