South Korea's Jio Lee is absolutely elated with his second run after slipping up in his first run of the night.

He is right to be happy with himself because he improves his score from 17.75 to 74.00 and squeaks into 12th place.

That means Brazil's Patrick Bergener is out of the competition.

After a series of well-executed opening runs, the nerves and mistakes seem to be creeping in at Livigno Snow Park.

Nevertheless, we are being treated to some great halfpipe snowboarding! This men's final is going to unleash some quality.

Australia's Scotty James didn't really need to do much with his second run after qualifying for the Olympic final with his first run of the evening.

He tried to be ambitious and it didn't quite come off, but it doesn't matter because he is still sat in first place with a score of 94.

10 down, 10 to go - we are at the half-way point in the free dance.

The current leaders are Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko of the United States, with an overall score of 197.62.

But all the major medal contenders are still to come - including, of course, Team GB's Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson.

Next on the ice are Spain's representatives Olivia Smart and Tim Dieck. Smart was born in Sheffield, and represented GB until 2015.

Campbell Melville Ives says 'the first time was so nice, I had to try it twice' as he attempts to unleash another gigantic double alley-oop in his second run of the night.

But the New Zealander fails to land it, which just shows how difficult that trick is!

He is currently eighth with a score of 84.75.

Brilliant position for Great Britain. Realistically you can't see them letting China back into this and the Chinese will know that.

Bruce Mouat could have comfortably taken two there, but where's the fun in that when there is three on offer? The Team GB skip throws down a composed final stone to snatch three and open up a daunting 8-3 advantage with three ends to play.

    Oh no, Patrick Burgener!

The Brazilian finds himself on his bottom after failing to land and slipping out of a Cab double cork 1080.

He knew he needed to go big after a first run score of 70, and he did execute a huge double chuck in the early stages, but it just wasn't to be and he's sat in 12th place for now.

What are the curlers eating mid-game?published at 20:00 GMT 11 February

A wee snack update for the curlers...

Hammy McMillan, Bobby Lammie and Grant Hardie are all armed with Squares bars. McMillan was telling me the lads have brought a four-pack for each match in the Games. Hopefully, that's 11 matches, which is... a lot of cereal bars.

Hardie reckons the boys have got into Sour Patch Kids recently while competing in North America, so will have something along those lines for a quick carbs hit. That'll will replace dried mango. Apparently a bad dose of toothache after eating a whole pack at a recent competition has put the vice skip right off that.

Bruce Mouat's role as skip is more mental than physical, so he doesn't need quite the same energy boost as the sweepers. So has gone with some fruit.

Australia's Valentino Guseli has just hit a height of 5.5m above the halfpipe on his second run, but he seems to be unhappy about something.

He thought he vastly improved on his first run, but the judges think differently and instead he drops half a point.

He is still holding sixth place, though!

One of the keys to getting off to a winning start is making sure your opposition don't score more than one when they've got the last stone. And GB have done that so far.

We've seen signs of life from China in the past couple of ends, but they're not in a good position here.

That's another edgy run for reigning Olympic champion Ayumu Hirano.

After choosing not to come out of first gear in his opening run, the 27-year-old was forced to roll with the punches in his second run of the night.

He slightly improves his score of 83.00 with a score of 85.50 thanks to a few technical upgrades here and there.

Uh oh. United States' Alessandro Barbieri is next to step up but fails to complete his second run!

The 17-year-old tries a very ambitious Cab 14, but just couldn't find the strength in his legs on the landing and sends himself flying.

Luckily he has his first run, which earned him fourth place in the standings, as a safety blanket.

China roll the dice with their final stone in the sixth end in an attempt to cut GB's lead, but the clank of granite doesn't go in their favour and they can only take one. The British rink lead 5-3.

Last night at the men's short programme, I was sat next to this fellow who controls the spider-cam which you might be able to see whizzing over the skaters during their routine.

He controls the camera using an adapted video game controller, using the trigger button to take photographs.

Whoever said playing video games didn't teach you life skills?

Japan's Ruka Hirano gets things under way again at Livigno Snow Park.

The 23-year-old completes a confident 180 straightaway to set him up for a switch stance into the halfpipe.

The run that follows is very neat and he is rewarded with a score of 87.5, which is a big improvement from his first run score of 80.5!

Given there’s no Team GB athlete competing, it’s quite surprising to see there’s a humongous Union Jack pinned to a fence at the halfpipe.

The bigger surprise? It has EDDIE THE EAGLE emblazoned across it.

Wonder if he’d give it a go?
