    And now Lithuania lead!

Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevicius have taken the lead with a season best score of 204.66. There is a pocket of very enthusiastic Lithuanian fans and they have gone potty.

Reed is American by birth but has skated with Ambrulevicius for nine years, missing the last two Games due to not yet gaining Lithuanian citizenship. It was worth the wait.

    Robin Cousins
Olympic gold medallist figure skater on BBC Radio 5 Live

On how Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson might lift Great Britain's morale with a medal after the team's run of fourth-place near-misses: "Every single one of those fourths has been by the tiniest of margins, but it doesn't matter what the margin is, it's either third as a medal or not.

"And I don't think anybody can go into an event like the Olympics and not have something in the back of their heart going, please, please, please.

"However, as any coach will tell you, your job is to make sure they do the day job. Don't think of it as being anything special.

"Don't try and do anything on the ice - specifically now for Lilah and Lewis - that you don't do every day in practice, that you didn't do at the Europeans, you didn't do at other events. Do what you know you can do to the point where you can step off your field of play and go, we couldn't have done any more, we've left it out there. And I'm really, really hoping that that's what they do tonight."

The stands, which were a little sparse when we started this evening, are starting to fill up in the arena.

We are approaching crunch time - and there is an outside chance of an Italian medal in the form of Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri.

The veteran former European champions, who live and train in Milan, were fifth after the rhythm dance and will perform before Fear and Gibson this evening.

  5. 'You have nothing to lose'published at 20:54 GMT 11 February

    Robin Cousins
Olympic gold medallist figure skater on BBC Radio 5 Live

On Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson's performance on Monday: "I thought it was brilliant. There's that moment of watching people in a warm-up, you can kind of sense how they feel and if there's any tension and you use a warm-up to get that out. There was nothing: They were absolutely focused. They skated brilliantly.

"There's less than a point between them and the Canadians, who currently sit in third. And the good news is tonight, Lilah and Lewis step on to the ice, do their warm-up, and they skate first of that final four.

"So as far as I'm concerned, I'm thinking, you have nothing to lose, mate. Get out there, enjoy this Proclaimers programme, which is a completely different vibe to the Spice Girls, but it still has that audience energy and that connection, which is so important to Lilah and Lewis.

"They have to have that connection with their audience. They have to feel that vibe."

It's time to get your dancing shoes - or should that be dancing skates - on as there isn't long to go until Team GB's Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson take to the ice in their free dance.

They finished in fourth place in the rhythm dance and the scores from both dances are combined to determine the overall standings.

Can Fear and Gibson win Great Britain's first medal of the Games?

They're scheduled to start at 21:18 GMT.

Bruce Mouat has vanquished any doubts about whether he could recover from losing that bronze-medal match in the mixed on Tuesday. Back with his boys, the Team GB skip was much more like himself here.

Just as well, because Sweden await on Thursday (13:05 GMT).

It was them who denied Mouat's rink gold four years ago and skip Niklas Edin comes alive at an Olympics. The Scot might have had his number in recent times, but the Swede already has the full set of medals in this event and will want more.

The winners' chairs have been introduced rinkside.

From now on, the couples in gold medal position will sit on these chairs watching the action - until someone else beats them. Brutal.

Olivia Smart and Tim Dieck have just landed in the hot seats, the Spanish duo moving first with an overall score of 201.49.

A judicious set of GB throws limits the Chinese to one in the eighth and leaves them four behind with two ends to play.

Did they consider getting up the road? Maybe, but we're going to crack on with a ninth end.

Dame Jayne Torvill and Sir Christopher Dean are here at the Milano Ice Skating Arena, and have just been chatting with the stadium host on the big screen.

As has been said ad nauseum, they were the last Brits to win an Olympic figure skating medal - bronze at Lillehammer 1994.

In a couple of hours, Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson could succeed them.

It is Italy's Louis Philip Vito III who will finish up this men's halfpipe qualification.

He steps up hoping to improve his first run score of 58.75 but just couldn't land his frontside 1260.

A disappointing evening for the 37-year-old, who could be competing at his last Winter Olympics.

Earlier on, Totsuka Yuto rose to the occasion with a much-improved second run score of 91.25.

The current World Cup leader executed a huge switch backside 1260 to start and launched himself 5.3m high to complete the triple to finish.

A stunning run! What an exciting talent.

But United States' Jake Pates steals Jio Lee's thunder soon after with a much-improved second run.

    Fine, fine margins!
