    Converted try - Gloucester 34-14 Castrespublished at 17:08 GMT 7 December 2025

    Charlie Atkinson (con: Byrne)

    Yes they can!

That turns it from a good to a great result for Gloucester.

What an impact Charlie Atkinson has had since coming on by the way but again it's Tomos Williams pulling the strings.

    Gloucester 27-14 Castres

Tomos Williams has just been announced as the man of the match.

To be honest he could be man of the match in most games he plays in.

Gloucester fans will be hoping those rumours of his possible departure at the end of the season don't come to fruition.

He's a player you don't want to lose

No they haven't as Cam Jordan didn't take the quick tap properly so anything that happened afterwards is irrelevant.

    As you were.

    Gloucester 27-14 Castres

Gloucester take a quick tap and try to burrow over.

    Have they done it?

    Gloucester 27-14 Castres

Castres indiscipline has killed any chances of winning this one.

    Charlie Atkinson (con: Byrne)

    That'll do it!

The first real moment of quality this half and it's no surprise Tomos Williams is the architect.

The Welshman fools a defender with a double pump and the ball is worked to Charlie Atkinson who picks a great line to get over the whitewash from distance!

    Great try!

    Richie Rees
Former Wales international on BBC Radio Wales

It's been all Ospreys in the second half, they've been so much better.

They've done a lot of the hard work off the ball and it's working.

  9. Penalty - Gloucester 20-14 Castrespublished at 68 mins

    Ross Byrne

Sensible decision again from the hosts as Ross Byrne slots the penalty to stretch the lead to six points.

Castres will be down to 14 for most of the game now and will need a try rather than kicks to get back in this.

    Ospreys 19-21 Connacht

    Drama here in Bridgend.

Connacht are down to 13 men with Denis Buckley in the sin bin and wing Finn Treacy sacrificed because it's uncontested scrums.

Ryan Smith powered over for Ospreys, who have 11 minutes to complete a comeback in horrendous conditions.

  11. Sin-bin - Christian Ambadiang (Castres)published at 16:53 GMT 7 December 2025

    Gloucester 17-14 Castres

Castres wing Christian Ambadiang is deemed to have knocked the ball on deliberately as Gloucester attack and is sent to the sin-bin.

Great attacking position for the hosts to take advantage now.

I can't believe I'm writing this again but Gloucester have just lost another line out - how many is that now?!

Castres survive again. But there is another Gloucester penalty!

  12. Penalty - Gloucester 17-14 Castrespublished at 62 mins

    Ross Byrne

    Points!

Gloucester finally decide to point to the sticks when Castres concede their 14th penalty of the afternoon.

Ross Byrne slots it over and we have our first score of the second half.

That is absolutely the sensible and right call from the Cherry and Whites.

There isn't going to be much in this so take the points when they are on offer, especially with the line-out not functioning smoothly.

Stop me if you've heard this before but Gloucester kick to the corner from the penalty and promptly lose the line-out.

Anyone ever seen the Bill Murray film Groundhog Day?

If you haven't you're missing out.

These two still can't be separated as we approach the hour mark.

No points yet in the second half.

There's yet another penalty against Castres at the scrum - they are definitely in the ref's bad books.

    Ospreys 12-21 Connacht

Ospreys have been brighter in the second half and Phil Cokanasiga's powerful finish has given them hope in the Challenge Cup opener.

However, Connacht still have the edge in terrible conditions here at Bridgend's Brewery Field.

Into the final quarter and the Irish province are eyeing a strong start to their campaign.

    Gloucester's line-out success rate is 56%.

Mitigating factors are the weather and Castres doing a good job of disrupting - if you want to be kind.

    Castres' is 100%.

    Gloucester 14-14 Castres

The game is breaking up a bit now and there isn't a lot of structure on show.

There have been two recurring themes in this contest - Gloucester losing line-outs and Castres giving penalties away - and both have just happened again!

The French side have conceded 11 penalties to Gloucester's five now.

Hulking second row Florent Vanverberghe goes on the rampage gobbling up the Kingsholm yards and is brought down near the home 22.

It's good attacking position for Castres but Glos get enough men back to force the turnover.

    Gloucester 14-14 Castres

Gloucester back row Deian Gwynne is sent for ten minutes on the touchline as the referee deems the contact with the eye area to not be deliberate.

The players were grappling and Gwynne's hand comes up more to push the player away more than anything so that is probably the right call.

He pulled his hand away as soon as he realised where he was making contact.

Castres have an extra man now though.

The TMO has been called in to check something that has gone on on the ground at a breakdown.

There's a Gloucester hand in a Castres face - towards the eye area - the ref and TMO are just discussing what they make of it.

    Was it accidental or reckless?
