    Fin Smith does well, though, and Northampton get back downfield.

    It's a messy scrum, and Saints get a penalty that they take short, then spin it wide and just as George Furbank looks to be in, the full-back is tackled by Aymeric Luc and the ball squirts out.

    Pau, who are second in the Top 14 after eight wins in 11 games, are captained by Argentina hooker Julian Montoya, with fellow Puma Facundo Isa at number eight.

    Former Wasps and England scrum-half Dan Robson starts, while ex-Saracens lock Joel Kpoku is among the replacements.

    Alex Mitchell will make his 150th appearance for Northampton and Tom Pearson will play in a Saints shirt for the 50th time.

    George Furbank captains Saints with George Hendy and James Ramm both recovering from injury to start on the wings.

    Rory Hutchinson and Fraser Dingwall are in the centres with Fin Smith at fly-half. Alex Coles returns to the side following the autumn internationals, Henry Pollock is on the bench and Tommy Freeman is unavailable.
