  1. Scheffler's early strugglespublished at 20:41 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -3 (3)

Scottie Scheffler had just two bogeys in the first two rounds of the US PGA Championship but has opened this one with bogey, bogey.

His opening three-putt was his first in 102 holes.

Things well off script, so far.

  2. Hovland in bother on the fourthpublished at 20:40 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -5, Suh -3 (3)

It was rough rather than sand for Viktor Hovland on the par-five fourth - just a few feet from the bunker.

His attempted recovery isn't great as the rain continues to fall in Rochester, landing in rough on the opposite side of the fairway.

  3. Koepka joins DeChambeau under par for round threepublished at 20:38 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -4, Koepka -3 (4)

Some magic in Bryson DeChambeau's wrists as he whips a wonderful wedge in tight on the fourth hole.

Pocket that par and get out of here after his skirmishes in the rough.

Koepka meanwhile deserves a birdie for his approach and he gets one, sinking confidently.

He's within two of the leaders.

    McIlroy -1, Lowry E (7)

Glorious. That's why Rory McIlroy is simply box office. Faced with a tough bunker shot he superbly plays out of the sand to leave himself with a tap in from a foot.

His playing partner Lowry, who of course has also been paired with him as a teammate at the Ryder Cup, can't drop in an 18-foot putt to save his par and hands a stroke straight back after his birdie at the last.

  5. Par settlerpublished at 20:36 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -3, Conners -5 (3)

A par to settle Scheffler and it's with a three-foot putt as well, which will be nice as he's looked a big ragged so far in the opening stages.

Conners has no such putting issues almost as he almost cans his birdie try from 27 feet away, but has to settle for a tap-in par.

  6. Postpublished at 20:35 BST 20 May 2023

    Rose -1, Block E (5)

The par-three fifth holds no demons for Justin Rose and Michael Block. Both find the green and both take two putts for par.

Rose knocks in from around four feet after tracking a 50-footer across the putting surface, while Block should do better from 28 feet but knocks in from five.

  7. Postpublished at 20:35 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -4, Koepka -2 (3)

The rough is biting back for Bryson DeChambeau on four as he goes for a low gouge to get his ball back into play.

He can't get any of his trademark power behind it though and it sinks in once more just a bit further down.

No trouble for Koepka who pulls out a delightful third shot and will have a good look at birdie from nine feet.

  8. Postpublished at 20:34 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -5, Suh -3 (3)

Viktor Hovland has found either heavy rough or sand down the right hand side of the par-five fourth hole. Hard to tell.

Either way, it's trouble for the co-leader, who has shed his trademark orange for black today, rather matching the weather.

  9. Postpublished at 20:33 BST 20 May 2023

    McIlroy -1, Lowry -1 (6)

Rory McIlroy needs to clear his mind and get back to doing what he was doing so well until those two errant shots down the sixth.

Except he now finds the rough off the tee and the right greenside bunker with his approach.

Not exactly plain sailing for Shane Lowry either here mind due to a wayward tee shot, that sees his second pop forward around 100 yards just shy of Allen's Creek which sweeps across the seventh.

  10. Postpublished at 20:29 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -4, Koepka -2 (3)

Hole four The High and Mighty is a chunky par five for Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka to navigate.

Bryson's aim is off at the tee and he's gone left, wrestling through the sodden rough.

An unflustered drive from Brooks sees him swerve the fairway bunkers and he'll likely take aim at the green with his second.

  12. Birdie for Rosepublished at 20:24 BST 20 May 2023

    Rose -1, Block E (4)

Justin Rose is left (again) off the tee on the long fourth. But it plays to his advantage this time because rather than chasing the green with his second, he's forced to lay up and then hits a belter from 180 yards into six feet.

Before he gets to take his putt, here's Michael Block from about double that distance hoping to save par. He does. More huge cheers.

Rosey? Up the slope. Middle of the cup. Birdie.

The deluge just hasn't stopped has it.

But the ground staff around Oak Hill are doing some job with hot air blowers and squeegees to keep greens and fairways is fine condition.

    McIlroy -1, Lowry -1 (6)

There's no reprieve for Rory McIlroy mind. He does a decent job to clip his fourth to six feet and hole out for a bogey.

  15. Postpublished at 20:22 BST 20 May 2023

    McIlroy -2, Lowry -1 (5)

Oh Rory. Can I just leave it at that?

The Northern Irishman has an awful lie. You know the sort, perched on a mound, ball almost at chest height, blind green.

But all that said he manages clip his ball about six feet up and it doesn't quite reach the fringe.

Remember that humongous putt Shane Lowry was faced with? Well he only goes and knocks it in. Holes don't really come any harder and the 2019 Open champ sinks a 50-footer for birdie.

  16. Suh back to three underpublished at 20:22 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -5, Suh -3 (3)

Another half-chance for Viktor Hovland to edge into the outright lead at six-under goes begging as he is wide left from 15-20 feet.

Justin Suh, however, grabs back the shot he dropped on the first with a confident birdie putt to move back to three under par.

  17. Bogey-bogey start for Schefflerpublished at 20:21 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -3, Conners -5 (2)

Scheffler has a good roll at his 15-foot par saver and it's right in the jaws, but just pulls up short of the cup and that's another shot gone for the world number two.

  18. Double for Tarrenpublished at 20:19 BST 20 May 2023

    Tarren E (3)

    Callum TarrenImage source, Getty Images

Callum Tarren comes a but unravelled at the third, chipping from left rough over the green to right rough, chipping back on then missing a five-foot sliding putt to card a double-bogey five.

  19. Scottie in the sandpublished at 20:17 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -4, Conners -5 (1)

Scheffler's in the greenside bunker at the second, and there's an extra depth to the thud as he tries his escape, with the sand now wet and heavy from all the rain.

And it shows as he comes up 15 feet short.

  20. Postpublished at 20:16 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -4, Koepka -2 (3)

Oh hello, Bryson DeChambeau's round is up and running.

Once again, it's a long putt for the 2020 US Open champion on the third green and this time, he rolls it bang in the middle of the cup.

He's on the coat-tails of Viktor Hovland and Corey Conners at the top of the board.
