  1. Birdie for Rosepublished at 21:10 BST 20 May 2023

    Rose -2, Block +2 (7)

Justin Rose has hit zero fairways today. But he's keeping himself right in this tournament.

On the seventh, he's 200 yards from the green but powers his ball into the centre of the putting surface and knocks in the 18-foot birdie putt.

The TV cameras have given up on 46-year-old PGA pro Michael Block but he makes a great par save from 18 feet after only advancing his second shot a few yards in the rough.

  2. Postpublished at 21:08 BST 20 May 2023

    McIlroy +1, Lowry E (9)

There are birdies to be had on this back nine if Rory McIlroy can regain his mojo.

As I write that, he hooks his tee shot well left on the 10th.

Still he'll have company over there given Shane Lowry's ball is about 30 yards back in a similar line.

  3. Postpublished at 21:07 BST 20 May 2023

Small consolation for Bryson DeChambeau - the current scoring average on the sixth hole is +0.75.

That makes it the hardest major hole in the past 20 years.

  4. Postpublished at 21:05 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -4, Koepka -4 (5)

More trouble for Bryson DeChambeau on six as he scoops his third into the greenside bunker.

It's about minimising the damage here.

Brooks picks out a five iron and aims at the flag and he's on the green but it rolls back to leave him a lengthy birdie putt.

Seven birdies in his last 14 holes for the American so you wouldn't put it past him..

  5. Missed chancespublished at 21:03 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -3, Conners -5 (4)

Couple of missed birdie chances on the par-five fourth, with Scheffler having 11 feet for birdie but still leaving two feet to deal with after his effort.

It's an even bigger chance for Conners as he's left himself seven feet for birdie after yet another dart with a short iron - but this time his putter can't do the business as he has to settle for par.

  6. McIlroy loses momentumpublished at 21:02 BST 20 May 2023

Rory McIlroy comes through a difficult stretch to be faced with the hardest hole on the course today.

His approach isn't great, zipping an iron from 202 yards just right of the dance floor to a position in the rough where he can barely even see the dimples on his ball.

He pops out to six feet. Can he stop the rot here? Nope he's missed it on the high side.

He'll go into the back nine one over for the day. A solid par for Shane Lowry who rolls in from four feet.

  7. Back-to-back bogeys for Hovlandpublished at 21:01 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -3, Suh -3 (5)

Viktor Hovland has questions about his weekend temperament to answer - and he's not answering them brilliantly so far.

Tough birdie putt at five races well by and then he misses the return for par too.

Having started as co-leader, the Norwegian is now two shots off the pace.

  9. Fine finish for Matsuyamapublished at 21:00 BST 20 May 2023

    Matsuyama +3 (70)

Finish with a flourish - well, why not Hideki Matsuyama.

The 2021 Masters champion needed to chip out of the rough on 18 to save par and end up level for round three.

And does he ever, a masterful wedge goes sky-high, takes a couple of bounces and casually trundles in.

  10. DeChambeau finds water on sixthpublished at 20:57 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -4, Koepka -4 (5)

The sixth tee can be an intimidating place but not for Brooks Koepka who eyes up the toughest hole on the course and flogs his drive flush down the fairway.

Bryson DeChambeau made a double bogey on this hole yesterday and he's in a bit of trouble again - he's picked out Allen's Creek down the right and will take a drop.

  11. Huge saver for Rosepublished at 20:56 BST 20 May 2023

    Rose -1, Block +2 (6)

Justin Rose doing Justin Rose things.

Wild pull left. Thrash out of the rough. This time he can't get back to the fairway though so his third is another gouge out of the cabbage. He's got a 30-footer for par.

Michael Block was in even more trouble off the tee and had to take a drop. He also has a couple of shots in the rough around the green. That all adds up to a six.

Back to Rose... the ball is tracking nicely... it's in! And for good measure, the ball does a 360 before dropping.

  12. Fleetwood from downtownpublished at 20:55 BST 20 May 2023

    Fleetwood +1 (17)

The 17th is such a long and difficult hole, but not if your name is Tommy Fleetwood - who found the dancefloor in two then drained a monster putt from right across the width of the green.

It's a 50-foot bomb than lands on Oak Hill and Fleetwood goes two under for his round and one over for the tournament.

  13. Postpublished at 20:55 BST 20 May 2023

    Theegala +1 (16)

Sahith Theegala has been a player on the fringes of things all week and he's back to one over par after a nice birdie on 16 from about 12 feet.

A bogey-free back nine thus far for the American.

  14. Koepka birdies again to move secondpublished at 20:52 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -4, Koepka -4 (5)

The major killer Brooks Koepka is suddenly in the rear view mirror of the leader.

He's nailed his putt on five and it's back-to-back birdies for the two-time PGA champion.

From behind the green, Bryson DeChambeau squirts out a chip and sets up an eight-foot putt.

Bosh, he's totally cool and it's another fine par save.

  15. Hovland drops out of leadpublished at 20:51 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -4, Suh -3 (4)

Yep, that was coming since the tee shot. And every shot after. All six of them.

Viktor Hovland needs to forget this fourth hole happened but Justin Suh rescues par after an equally laborious few minutes and that will feel like a birdie to the American.

  16. McIlroy coughs up another shotpublished at 20:48 BST 20 May 2023

    McIlroy E, Lowry E (8)

Shane Lowry & Rory McIlroyImage source, Getty Images

Excuse the 20:04 post. Rory McIlroy is faced with another bunker shot on the eighth.

He went a right off the tee and simply couldn't control his second from the deep rough which splashes straight into the sand.

He runs eight feet past with his escape from the trap but then can't tickle in a straightish putt which just catches the left lip as it rolls past. A second stroke shipped in three holes.

  18. Postpublished at 20:46 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -3, Conners -5 (3)

It's tough enough to reach a 622-yard par five at the best of times, with the heavy air and moisture at Oak Hill right now it's even harder.

And from where Scheffler hit his tee shot it's impossible. As he clunks it down onto the fairway a big spray of water bursts up from his club and the heavy thud just shows you how difficult it is hitting out of the rough today.

  19. Postpublished at 20:46 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -5, Suh -3 (3)

This fourth hole is proving a nightmare for both Viktor Hovland and Justin Suh.

The Norwegian is hacking his way up the hole like your club player and an average bunker shot leaves a very, very tough par putt from probably 25 feet.

Suh, meanwhile, is off the back of the green and also struggling to salvage par. Brilliant chip on though - he's much closer than Hovland.

  20. Postpublished at 20:45 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -4, Koepka -3 (4)

Brooks Koepka is running hot at the moment and he's fizzed in a lovely iron to the fifth green.

    He'll have 12 feet for back-to-back birdies.

Playing partner Bryson DeChambeau has overshot slightly and he'll have a tricky chip from the rough slope just beyond the flag.
