    McIlroy -2, Lowry E (5)

Rory McIlroy was in the drink down the left on the sixth on Friday but has he overcompensated as a result?

He appears to have the perfect angle of approach but hoiks his second well right into the rough.

Shane Lowry finds the dance floor but he'll have a putt from downtown for birdie.

    Hovland -5, Suh -2 (2)

Viktor Hovland was within a couple of inches of taking the lead on his own.

Huge putt across the face of the second green, must have been 35 feet, comes so close but just shy to the left.

    Svensson -2 (5)

Canada's Adam Svensson has made a tidy start in his opening five holes.

Playing alongside Min-Woo Lee, he's already picked up a couple of birdies and is training his sights on the leaders.

  4. Scheffler slips up at the firstpublished at 20:08 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -4, Conners -5 (1)

Conners walks in a nine-foot par putt as that part of his game starts off today looking as rock solid as it has been the last two days.

Scheffler, though, can't convert from just four feet and that kind of sums up the difference in their games so far this week - with Scheffler's putting struggles continuing.

    Morikawa +1 (11)

Two-time major champion Collin Morikawa dispatches a 12-foot putt just inside the left of the hole on 11 to move back to one under.

The American has shown he can handle the final-day pressure - and if he pulls back a couple more shots tonight then he has to be considered a contender.

  6. Postpublished at 20:05 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -3, Koepka -2 (1)

Birdie chances for both Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau on the second hole and it's the latter who goes closest with his long putt.

He watches it drift by before trotting over to tap home for par.

Koepka has a slightly longer second putt but he's composed and tickles it in to match his playing partner.

    McIlroy -2, Lowry E (5)

The middle of the fairway is the place to be today and, so far at least, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry have been pretty much okay off the tee.

Accurate and sensible wet-weather golf very much holding sway so far, as they both find the centre of the sixth fairway.

You couldn't fail to hear the chorus of boos that greeted both Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka as they stepped up to the first tee.

Should punters make their objections about their participation on the LIV tour known, or just accept that they have made their decision, but will still be invited to play in the majors?

    Tarren -2 (2)

Nice and solid par-par start for Callum Tarren to ease into this third round.

The Darlington golfer has tasted being at the top of a major leaderboard before, at last year's US Open, but faded away so will look to use that experience to hang around a bit longer this time.

  11. McIlroy on the movepublished at 19:58 BST 20 May 2023

    McIlroy -2, Lowry E (5)

What. A. Shot. Rory McIlroy zips his tee shot into six feet on the par-three fifth. Birdie chance on its way.

Shane Lowry, finds the centre of the green with his. Not bad at all but can the Irishman drain this testy putt from 17 feet? He sets it on his way but that's not going to drop.

Now here comes McIlroy...in it pops.

  12. Postpublished at 19:58 BST 20 May 2023

    Rose E, Block E (3)

Justin Rose hits a lovely tee shot into the par-three but can't hole the birdie putt from 10 feet. Solid par.

Michael Block also in for par after a great putt from 42 feet to nine inches.

  13. Suh drops a shot on the firstpublished at 19:58 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -5, Suh -2 (1)

Viktor Hovland was unable to capitalise on that admittedly not easy birdie chance on the opening hole.

A par it is for the Scandinavian.

But Justin Suh three-putts from long distance to drop a shot, leaving Bryson DeChambeau on his own in fourth place.

    McIlroy -1, Lowry E (4)

Both Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry pitch on to the fairway from the left rough on the second and from their on in it's regulation stuff.

Two-time US PGA champion McIlroy leaves himself with a lengthy birdie putt from 35 feet or so but rocks it up to within a couple of feet and then secures his par.

Similar stuff from 2019 Open champion Lowry, who knocks a monster birdie attempt close enough to tap in for par.

  15. Iron man strikes againpublished at 19:51 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -5, Suh -3

Viktor Hovland shows why he sits number one in the field for iron play with a sumptuous approach into the first green, setting up a birdie chance from around 15-20 feet for the outright lead.

Justin Suh on the green too but his putt is more like 50-60 feet.

  16. Final pairingpublished at 19:50 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -5, Conners -5 (19:50 BST)

This should be a great final pairing - Scheffler's been here before of course and not many players have been hitting the ball as well as Conners this week - or in recent years in the majors actually.

Scheffler's been sparkling with his irons too but just not putting like he can, while Conners has been overperforming with the flat stick from his usual standards.

They've both shot 67-68 in the first two rounds so there's not much between them at all.

  17. Postpublished at 19:49 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -3, Koepka -2 (1)

Tidy work from both Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka as they knock their third shots close.

The two LIV golfers are given a frosty reception on the first green with barely a ripple of applause as they close out for par.

    We'll follow this with interest.

  18. Postpublished at 19:47 BST 20 May 2023

    McIlroy -1, Lowry E (3)

Both Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry head left from the fourth tee. There's nowt great out there lads other than ankle-high grass.

On a 622-yard par five not ideal territory at all.

  19. Birdie for Blockpublished at 19:46 BST 20 May 2023

    Rose E, Block E (2)

Michael Block gives a big fist-pump salute to the New Yorkers supporting him today after rolling his birdie putt into the centre of the cup.

Justin Rose, meanwhile, gives a little grimace after he picks his ball out of the hole. His lengthy par putt put on the brakes three inches from the hole. Bogey.

    Fox E (7)

We've kept an eye on Ryan Fox this week after the New Zealand briefly led in round one and he's still kicking around the top 10 two days later.

It's been a steady round so far but he's just holed a monstrous putt from fully 74 feet on the seventh green to go one under for his round.

    Spectacular stuff.
