  1. Birdie for Fitzpatrickpublished at 20:19 GMT 13 March 2021

    Westwood -9, Fitzpatrick -8 (6)

Ding! That's a lovely putt from Matt Fitzpatrick at six, wriggling it in from almost 30 feet - right on the money and he's back to eight under.

Lee Westwood has a look himself, he needs this to move back into a share of the lead, but the 47-year-old leaves it a few rotations short.

  2. Rahm drops backpublished at 20:17 GMT 13 March 2021

    Rahm -8 (10)

Jon Rahm makes his first mistake of the day on the par-four 10th. He is a couple of feet too far left of the flag and his ball trundles off the green and down a slope.

The Spaniard is a little too aggressive with his putt and leaves himself too much to do to save par.

    Thomas -10 (16)

So Justin Thomas, how's your nerves? Has the heartbeat slowed down after that sensational eagle on the 16th in time to tackle TPC Sawgrass' signature island hole?

After two days stuck at the back of the green, the hole is right down the front today. It's much easier to get at though because of a big ridge that runs across the middle of the green.

The smart play is to land your ball six or seven yards past the flag and let spin and gravity take over.

Thomas is a fraction, and I do mean a fraction, long and his ball stays on top of the slope. Tricky and fast putt coming up.

  5. Birdie for Harmanpublished at 20:08 GMT 13 March 2021

    Harman -9 (6)

We mentioned Brian Harman going along steadily a moment ago... well he's just clicked into gear again. An eagle at the first, a birdie at six. He moves to nine under and one behind leader Justin Thomas.

  6. New leaderpublished at 20:06 GMT 13 March 2021

    Thomas -10 (16)

Justin Thomas likes the 16th hole at TPC Sawgrass. He's only ever had one bogey on the par-five hole that is playing 508 yards today.

He takes an age discussing his options for his second shot to the green. It's worth the wait though as he launches a high bomb straight at the flag. The ball bounces softly on the front edge of the green and trickles up to within six inches.

Tap-in eagle and the outright lead.

    Westwood -9, Fitzpatrick -7 (5)

Lee Westwood flicks an approach from the first cut towards the fifth green but it doesn't quite have the legs and wheels off to the left slightly.

It's the trickiest putt he's faced all day, but rolls it from the longer grass to within a few feet of the pin and it should be a fifth successive par for Westy.

But there's movement in the pack...

  8. Bogey for Caseypublished at 20:02 GMT 13 March 2021

    Casey -8 (10)

How many times have we seen this over the years?

Paul Casey gets himself in a great position and then the putter goes cold. A three-putt from 30 feet on the 10th drops him back into the group one adrift of the lead.

  9. Postpublished at 20:00 GMT 13 March 2021

    Harman -8 (5)

Brian Harman remains one back after that eagle start. He's chalked off continuous pars since. Just one off the lead.

  10. Rahm climbs to the summitpublished at 19:56 GMT 13 March 2021

    Rahm -8 (8)

Jon Rahm is on the par-five ninth. Lots of birdies on this hole today. He tugs his drive a little and it nestles down in the rough, so he won't be going for the green in two.

Instead, he takes his medicine, pushes one down the fairway and then flicks a wedge onto the green from 80 yards. One hop forward and the brakes come on.

A four-footer coming up to join Lee Westwood and Paul Casey on top of the pile. Right in the middle of the hole.

But there's still only two in the lead...

  11. Bogey for Fitzpatrickpublished at 19:55 GMT 13 March 2021

    Westwood -9, Fitzpatrick -7 (4)

It could have been worse. Matt Fitzpatrick will probably be relieved to escape with just the one dropped shot after a trip to the water at four.

Lee Westwood leaves another birdie putt just shy, this one from 15 feet, and that's becoming the story of his round. Four pars on the bounce to start.

  12. Postpublished at 19:51 GMT 13 March 2021

    DeChambeau -8, Hoffman -6 (6)

Oooh, Bryson! Not quite. DeChambeau's birdie putt flirts with the cup but stays left. It would've handed him a slice of top spot. Par it is.

  13. Postpublished at 19:49 GMT 13 March 2021

    Westwood -9, Fitzpatrick -8 (3)

"Come on, don't stop there," says Lee Westwood as he slightly overcooks his approach at four but the ball won't trickle back down the slope. He's a man in great form and enjoying his golf. How he'd love to end that decade-long wait for a win on the PGA Tour though...

Matt Fitzpatrick is forced to scramble once more after another wayward tee shot. This time he can't atone though and his ball plunges into the water in front of the green.

  14. Garcia going backwardspublished at 19:46 GMT 13 March 2021

    Rahm -8 (8), Garcia -5 (4)

Here comes Jon Rahm too with another monster putt tracking the hole. He is inches away from improving his score to nine under and taking a share of the lead.

Rahm's fellow Spaniard Sergio Garcia is struggling today though. He played pinball golf on the par-five second on his way to a dropped shot.

And on the par-four fourth, he left himself with a perilous putt down a huge slope and completely misjudged the pace, hitting his ball off the green. The return par putt predictably pulled up short and that's another shot gone.

    DeChambeau -8, Hoffman -6 (5)

Bryson DeChambeau has a vocal following, naturally. He started brightly though.

Another solid drive that find the fairway on six for the US Open champion.

    Looking dangerous.

  17. Westwood has companypublished at 19:41 GMT 13 March 2021

    Casey -9 (9)

And one of those who was stacking up behind Lee Westwood was his fellow Englishman, Paul Casey.

I write was because he's just knocked in another birdie on the ninth. He is five under par for the day and now sharing the lead.

Another that doesn't quite drop for Lee Westwood. He's presenting himself with chances, but needs to start taking them with the names stacking up behind him...

There are some big names stacking up behind Lee Westwood.

Jon Rahm is the latest to get to within one, draining a 36-footer on the seventh, his fourth birdie of the day.
