    Westwood -9, Fitzpatrick -8 (8)

Tricky for Lee Westwood, perched on the downslope, water in front of him, but he manages to hack it long and low, running over the moguls leading towards the ninth green and coming to rest just before the bunker at the right of the smooth stuff.

Matt Fitzpatrick has found a similar spot of longer grass but clips out wonderfully to carry the bunker and get up over the bank on to the green.

  2. Ghim joins leadpublished at 20:53 GMT 13 March 2021

    Ghim -10 (11)

Doug Ghim is on a roll and it's taken him into a share of top spot.

The 24-year-old thundered a superb approach off the deck at the par-five 11th, trickling it on to the green to give himself an eagle chance.

That would've taken the youngster into the outright lead... instead he nestles it up close and settles for the birdie. He's level with Justin Thomas.

  3. Casey bogeypublished at 20:52 GMT 13 March 2021

    Casey -9 (13)

What the golfing gods giveth...Paul Casey is dropping a shot again.

He pulled his tee shot a touch on the par-three 13th, leaving himself a 60-footer from the back edge. It's a tough putt but Casey doesn't really attack it, leaving himself with an eight-footer for par.

And his par putt is not much better, setting out too far to the right and not coming back in.

  4. Birdie for Rahmpublished at 20:48 GMT 13 March 2021

    Rahm -9 (12)

Jon Rahm is the latest to take advantage of the driveable par-four 12th.

The world number two finishes a fraction short of the dance floor but rolls his 36-foot putt up to blow-in range.

A welcome birdie after missing out on the par-five 11th.

  5. DeChambeau moves within onepublished at 20:47 GMT 13 March 2021

    DeChambeau -9 (10)

Lovely touch from Bryson DeChambeau, clipping a wedge to within a few feet from 133 yards as he starts the back nine.

Birdie chance... and he just teases it in. The American is one off the lead.

  6. Postpublished at 20:44 GMT 13 March 2021

    Westwood -9, Fitzpatrick -8 (8)

Another one stays up for Westy, but he probably used up his luck to get in that position in the first place. An eighth successive par for the Englishman.

Matt Fitzpatrick has a wonderful chance to move to nine under, but it creeps past from within five feet or so!

  8. Casey joins Thomaspublished at 20:40 GMT 13 March 2021

    Casey -10 (12)

Is Paul Casey about to move into a share of the lead? He has two putts from 40 feet after driving the par-four 12th green to do so.

He knocks his first down the hill to three feet and confidently holes the birdie.

A perfect response from the Englishman to that dropped shot on the 10th.

  9. Postpublished at 20:39 GMT 13 March 2021

    Westwood -9, Fitzpatrick -8 (7)

Lovely tee shot from Matt Fitzpatrick at the par-three eight - a five wood right into the heart of the green that anchors down within touching distance of the pin.

Lee Westwood gets a member's bounce after his three iron looked to be coming up short. It bumps off the near bank and runs on to the dance floor. He'll take that.

  10. Ghim one backpublished at 20:37 GMT 13 March 2021

    Ghim -9 (10)

    Doug Ghim is climbing!

That's successive birdies for the former amateur world number one. He's one back.

  11. Thomas sets clubhouse leadpublished at 20:35 GMT 13 March 2021

    Thomas -10 (F)

Does Justin Thomas have one more birdie left in the tank?

His second shot gripped on the green and has left him a 30-footer to get to 11 under par.

Not happening this time. His ball sails by on the left and goes four feet past.

A couple of looks, a shuffle of the feet and straight in the middle of the cup.

That will be an eight-under-par 64 and the lowest round of the week so far.

  12. Postpublished at 20:33 GMT 13 March 2021

    DeChambeau -8 (9)

DeChambeau lashes out of the sand at nine after scurrying one across the green and into a bunker. He's up and down to make it out in par.

    Still lurking, the American.

  13. Postpublished at 20:32 GMT 13 March 2021

    Casey -9 (11)

Paul Casey is on the 289-yard par-four 12th. No need for the big dog off the tee as he clatters his ball towards the green.

It lands just short and charges on, finally coming to rest about 40 feet from the hole. An outside eagle chance coming up.

  14. Ghim in the mixpublished at 20:29 GMT 13 March 2021

    Ghim -8 (9)

There are a host of big names gathering at the top of the leaderboard, but one you might not be too familiar with is Doug Ghim.

The 24-year-old American is through the front nine in two under for the day and he's climbed to eight under for the tournament - just two back. Lovely stuff.

  15. Kirk coming on strongpublished at 20:29 GMT 13 March 2021

    Kirk -9 (7)

Chris Kirk has been largely ignored by the television cameras during his first seven holes but the American has been quietly going about his business, hovering around the top end of the leaderboard.

He birdied the second and has just rolled in another on seven to get within one of the lead.

  16. Postpublished at 20:26 GMT 13 March 2021

    Thomas -10 (17)

The tee shot on the 18th hole has to be one of the most demanding in golf. There is water all down the left and if you leak the ball out right, there's a huge tree, shrubbery, pine straw and all sorts of nonsense you don't want to be involved with.

Justin Thomas sets his ball out to the right and it's drawing back towards the water. Has he set it out far enough? Yes he has. The ball thuds into the fairway and skips happily forward. Another puff of the cheeks.

  17. Postpublished at 20:24 GMT 13 March 2021

    DeChambeau -8, Hoffman -6 (8)

Bryson DeChambeau hammers an iron into the ninth green from 264 yards and watches it run on out the other side. Could be a spot of bother for the American down there.

  19. Par for JTpublished at 20:22 GMT 13 March 2021

    Thomas -10 (17)

Justin Thomas walks off the 17th green with a big puff of his cheeks after two-putting for par.

He knows that is a big hole out of the way. A couple more good swings and he could well set a demanding clubhouse lead for the others to chase.

  20. Casey atones for bogeypublished at 20:20 GMT 13 March 2021

    Casey -9 (11)

Paul Casey has a good chance of getting back the shot he dropped at the 10th after finding the front of the green with his second on the par-five 11th.

And he does just that with a superb lag putt from 50 feet to six inches. Tap-in birdie and he'll be feeling much better than he was 15 minutes ago.
