  1. McIlroy 'marepublished at 13:18 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy +1, Johnson -4, Cantlay -2 (12*)

Wow McIlroy! Moments after Johnson produces a slightly wayward drive, McIlroy goes even further left from the tee on Azalea.

He sticks out his driver to indicate the direction - in case you hadn't worked out what happened.

  2. Pars are still decentpublished at 13:17 GMT 13 November 2020

    Rose - 3 (11), Langer -4 (13*)

Justin Rose has had a solid start to the day. He was three under after the first nine holes, and has parred the 10th and 11th so far.

He's got the par fives on 13 and 15 coming up, so he'll definitely be looking to shoot a bit further up the leaderboard.

Meanwhile, over on the fourth, Bernhard Langer pars with a straightforward two putt.

  3. Johnson birdiepublished at 13:14 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy +1, Johnson -4, Cantlay -2 (12*)

McIlroy completes misreads the pace and line on his birdie putt. That was poor from the four-time major winner - he knows it.

DJ makes his birdie putt though - straight as something straight.

Back to Mac. Par putt made, but that was a huge missed opportunity.

Only a handful of clear birdie chances left for him in this round.

  4. Frittelli flyingpublished at 13:13 GMT 13 November 2020

    Frittelli -6 (11*)

Dylan Frittelli is soaring. The South African is now up to within one stroke of Paul Casey's lead after another birdie at the par-five second. Frittelli came up left of the green but a delightful wedge to within several feet allowed him to roll in his fifth birdie of a round that also includes an eagle and one bogey. He's at six under.

    Langer -4 (12*)

Is Bernhard feeling the heat? The German has shed a layer as temperatures start to rise at Augusta National.

His left hand comes off the club as he strikes his tee shot at the par-three fourth. It's right on target though, about 20 feet short though. Another birdies look coming up...

Will Woods begin his charge today?

  7. Im rides the birdie trainpublished at 13:09 GMT 13 November 2020

    Im -5 (10)

Sungjae Im has suddenly slingshotted his way into contention with four birdies in a row, that's six in total for the South Korean through 10 holes today - he sits at five under, after a bogey at five. Could be on for a very healthy score here...

  8. Postpublished at 13:08 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy +1, Johnson -3, Cantlay -2 (11*)

McIlroy is fine too. He elects to put a bit more swaz on his ball and it plops about 15 feet to the left of the hole.

Hi-fives all around. They actually didn't 'hi five'.

  9. Postpublished at 13:06 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy +1, Johnson -3, Cantlay -2 (11*)

Patrick Cantlay stands back and admires his tee-shot which clears Rae's Creek safely and lands about 15 feet short of the hole on the par three 12th.

DJ picks out his nine iron and is about 12 feet short.

    Now it's Rory's turn...

  10. Langer misses birdie chancepublished at 13:05 GMT 13 November 2020

    Langer -4 (12*)

Back on the shortish par-four third, Bernhard Langer is eyeing another birdie putt after driving down the middle of the fairway and flicking a nine-iron to 12 feet.

He's left himself an uphill putt. Pushed that though. He was walking after that almost before he'd hit it. Tap-in par.

  11. Postpublished at 13:02 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy +1, Johnson -3, Cantlay -2 (11*)

McIlroy makes par after a misjudged second shot. There's a look of relief etched across the Northern Irishman's face.

Dustin Johnson judges the break like the number one player in the world that he is. Give that man a par.

Cantlay joins them in the 'Parfest'.

  12. Bogeys all roundpublished at 12:59 GMT 13 November 2020

    Wolff -4 , Fleetwood E (13*)

Matthew Wolff comes up a fraction short with his tee shot on the par-three fourth. He's on the green but very much in three-putt territory. He races his first putt six feet past, can he make the return? No. Shot gone.

He's playing with England's Tommy Fleetwood, who also ships a shot.

  13. Postpublished at 12:59 GMT 13 November 2020

    Thomas -5 (12*)

Justin Thomas' hopes of a birdie are dashed again as his putt on the par three 12th whistles past the hole.

Another rueful look. He's collecting these this morning in Augusta.

  14. Postpublished at 12:57 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy +1, Johnson -3, Cantlay -2 (10*)

Good pace from DJ but his putt misses the intended target by a few inches.

  15. Postpublished at 12:55 GMT 13 November 2020

    McIlroy +1, Johnson -3, Cantlay -2 (10*)

Patrick Cantlay looks at his caddie to see if he avoided the right-side bunker on the 11th. You did Patrick. Just.

McIlroy joins him in the immediate vicinity and world number one Dustin Johnson leaves his short at the front of the green.

20% chance of birdies here for each man.

  16. Frittelli's birdie-festpublished at 12:54 GMT 13 November 2020

    Frittelli -5 (10*)

South Africa's Dylan Frittelli is another mooching along nicely. He was four under after playing the back nine yesterday.

An opening birdie on the first has put him within two of Paul Casey's lead.

His drive on the second is a little wayward though. Down the left. He points with his club, no shout of Fore though. I suspect the Green Jackets sat by the bunker might have appreciated one, given the ball sailed perilously close to them before landing in the rough.

  17. Langer rolling back the yearspublished at 12:48 GMT 13 November 2020

    Langer -4 (11*)

Here's Bernhard Langer, rolling back the years. The German won both his majors at Augusta, in 1985 and 1993.

The 63-year-old plotted his way round the back nine and the first hole in three under par on Thursday. He's starting on the par-five second today.

No big smash off the tee, just get the ball in play and then nudge your second down short of the bunkers protecting the green. A pitch from 80 yards hops and skips and stops, six feet short. And in she pops.

A master at work. And a lesson for others to follow?

  18. Postpublished at 12:48 GMT 13 November 2020

    Thomas -5 (11*)

A beautiful putt from Justin Thomas but it narrowly glides past the hole.

Thomas raises his head, looking rueful.

  19. Postpublished at 12:45 GMT 13 November 2020

    Thomas -5 (10*)

World number three Justin Thomas has a birdie putt on the 11th to go to one off the lead!!!!

  20. Wolff threateningpublished at 12:44 GMT 13 November 2020

    Wolff -4 (12*)

Matthew Wolff is playing in only his third major but there's something about them that he obviously likes. The 21-year-old American finished joint fourth at this year's US PGA Championship and followed that with a runner-up spot at the US Open.

And he's off to a fine start on his Masters debut.

He started on the 10th and had four birdies before darkness fell on Thursday and interrupted his round. He's resumed on the par-four third today.

A decent drive has left him a flicked wedge to the green. It sticks a bit on the front edge, 15-footer up the hill to get to five under...

...nothing doing this time. Par it is.
