McIlroy +2, Johnson -5, Cantlay -2 (15*)
Both Johnson and Cantlay made the green as McIlroy finally joins them with his 'third' shot, although it spins back to the fringe.
One dropped minimum here.
Frittelli -7 (16*)
The co-leader, Dylan Frittelli, will be happy to head straight back out once he's finished his opening round - the South African is seven under with two to play, having made par at the seventh. Par five next, chance to take outright top spot?
McIlroy +2, Johnson -5, Cantlay -2 (15*)
"That's so bad," as McIlroy finds the water off the tee at the 16th. The ball got nowhere near the green.
Good grief!
By my maths, there is currently a remarkable 54 players under par... that's some going at Augusta National of all places.
Thomas -6, Koepka -1 (16*)
Four-time major winner Brooks Koepka, out of almost nowhere, is in the red. He makes a a birdie straight after his eagle.
He deserves his name in lights in this entry.
McIlroy +2, Johnson -5, Cantlay -2 (15*)
McIlroy has an eagle chance on the 15th, but the ball veers a little right and beyond the hole - it was a difficult proposition but he needed that. An almost certain birdie though, which he makes.
DJ makes his birdie - great control with his putter.
Thomas -6 (15*)
Justin Thomas has a bit of a laugh with Brooks Koepka's Northern Irish caddie Ricky Elliott - perhaps thinking that his tee-shot would spin back into the hole. It didn't.
He should have skimmed the ball across the water!

It’s exciting with so many players near the top of the leaderboard and separated by so few shots, but who will be wearing that special Green Jacket come Sunday evening and why?

Mickelson -4 (17)
Phil Mickelson is a three-time Masters winner. The 50-year-old won his last Green Jacket a decade ago.
He's having a terrific back nine with birdies on the 13th, 16th and 17th holes to get to four under.
He couldn't, could he?
McIlroy +3, Johnson -4, Cantlay -2 (14*)
McIlroy clears the water with his approach on 15. He thinks the worst as the ball attempts its landing, but it plops onto the soft turf.
DJ is safely on the dancefloor and has 15 feet for a birdie.
Langer -3 (16*)
Bernhard Langer hits his second into the par-four seventh into the bunker protecting the front of the green.
You can just about see the top of his head as he takes an almighty swipe at the ball. Lots of sand flies out on to the green, but no ball.
A wry look on the German's face as he surveys his new lie in the sand. The second attempt comes out 15 feet short.
Brilliant putt though to drop just one.
Scott -3 (16)
Adam Scott, after that drama at 15, responds immediately by clawing one stroke back with a well-made birdie at the par-three 16th - right on the money from 15 feet, tracking all the way in.
Thomas -6 (15*)
Quite stunning from Justin Thomas - he kills the ball with spin three feet from the hole having played his shot from the bottom of the bank at the side of the 15th green.
The world number three makes his birdie to go to six under.
Koepka gets his much-needed eagle to go to level.
Rose -5 (14), Hatton +1 (16)
England's Tyrrell Hatton escaped with a par after his ball unluckily slid into the pond on the 15th. He strides across to the 16th tee.
He doesn't like that though. And with good reason. The ball plunges into a watery grave. Something is given a clatter off camera. It leads to a double bogey.
Meanwhile, fellow Englishman Justin Rose is going birdie hunting again. This time on the 14th. His second is straight over the flag, coming to a stop 15 feet beyond. A mis-read though. He'll stay where he is.
Im -6 (13)
Sungjae Im is also on the charge. He registers his fifth birdie in the past seven holes to move to six under, with the latest effort coming on the par-five 13th. One off the pace...
Frittelli -7 (15*)
Oh hello. Paul Casey has company up top.
Dylan Frittelli is enjoying a storming round and has just rolled in from about eight feet at the par-three sixth to climb into a share of the lead at seven under.
Just needs a birdie in his final three holes to take him into the outright lead.

So will Paul Casey run away with it when the second round begins?
Who might be the surprise package on Friday?
Will Woods begin his charge today?
Thomas -5 (14*)
Justin Thomas is in a slight spot of bother with his second shot on the par-five 15th which slides down the embankment - a chance for an eagle is gone.
Brooks Koepka - down at two over - plays his approach to about five feet. He needs this eagle.
Scott -2 (15)
I hope Adam Scott brought his snorkel, he's just lost two balls in the drink at 15.
The Australian's second into the par-five 15th green didn't have the legs and trickled its way back into the water. He took a drop and chipped on, only to watch his ball come sprinting back down the slope to land in the water once again.
The 2013 champion is finally out of there with a double bogey. It pegs him back to two under.
McIlroy +3, Johnson -4, Cantlay -2 (14*)
Lip licked. McIlroy drops yet another shot. He looks up to the sky as he taps in his bogey.
It's a sad sight.
