    B Koepka -11, G Woodland -10, K Kisner -9 (6)

On to the par-three sixth for the leading group.

Brooks Koepka sends his tee shot into the sand, but clips out superbly to within a few feet and with the form he's in, you wouldn't have been too surprised to see that drop.

Gary Woodland gives himself a chance to re-take a share of the lead, finding the middle of the dancefloor only to unsuccessfully flirt with the cup with his birdie putt.

    T Woods -8 (9)

    Not bad Tiger, not bad...

  3. Live on 5 in five...published at 20:56 BST 11 August 2018

White picket fence, colonial style frontage, could Bellerive be any more American?

BBC reporter Sarah Mulkerrins took this photo. She will be on Radio 5 live Sports Extra with Iain Carter and Karen Stupples from 21:00 BST to cover the business end of round three.

  4. Koepka takes leadpublished at 20:54 BST 11 August 2018

    B Koepka -11, G Woodland -10, K Kisner -9 (5)

Ding, ding, ding - that's the sound of Brooks Koepka taking the outright lead.

The American sizzles in his third birdie of the day from some way out to move to 11 under par - that putter is absolutely cooking.

He is looking to become the first winner of the US Open and the US PGA Championship in the same year since Tiger Woods in 2000. Back when Koepka was 10...

  5. Bogey for Johnsonpublished at 20:48 BST 11 August 2018

    D Johnson -6, R Fowler -8, C Schwartzel -8 (5)

Bellerive operating a one in, one out policy like a peeved nightclub bouncer as Charl Schwartzel birdies the fifth to join a group of six players on eight under par, only for world number one Dustin Johnson to head in the other direction as he takes three shots to reach the green and then two-putts for bogey.

  6. Postpublished at 20:46 BST 11 August 2018

    J Spieth -7 (9), T Woods -8 (9)

Jordan Spieth might need to wear some heatproof gloves on the green. His putter is on fire. Six putts in five holes help him turn in 31.

Tiger Woods is also red hot with the short stick and has a 40-footer on the ninth... "Get in the hole!" The most tedious of shout-outs is rather ambitious, even for Tiger.

Not enough beef sees his effort swing round right to left and short, leaving him with a nervy par putt. No problem for this man. Not today.

Tiger, like Spieth, is out in 31. He marches to the 10th tee with a purposeful strut through a tunnel of fans sticking their hands to give him a low five.

  7. Scott on the chargepublished at 20:44 BST 11 August 2018

    A Scott -8 (6), T Pieters -8 (6)

Adam Scott is sneaking in under the radar - back-to-back birdies, and three for the day, for the 2013 Masters winner to see him climb to eight under par and two strokes off the leaders.

Thomas Pieters is also trying to make a move, he's one under for the day and nestled in alongside the Australian.

  8. Postpublished at 20:40 BST 11 August 2018

    B Koepka -10, G Woodland -10, K Kisner -9 (4)

More punch in that drive from Brooks Koepka than 12 rounds in the ring with Anthony Joshua, leathering it down the left of the fifth fairway - 141 yards left to the pin.

Co-leader Gary Woodland sprays his right, avoiding the water but nestling into a spot of rough.

  9. Postpublished at 20:37 BST 11 August 2018

    J Spieth -7 (9)

    He can't, can he?

  10. Birdie for Spiethpublished at 20:36 BST 11 August 2018

    J Spieth -7 (9)

Anything Tiger can do... Jordan Spieth joins him on a joint-best four under for the day, moving the Grand Slam-seeking Texan to seven under for the tournament.

  11. Birdie for Kisnerpublished at 20:35 BST 11 August 2018

    B Koepka -10, G Woodland -10, K Kisner -9 (4)

Woodland leaves his birdie putt agonisingly short. Few more rotations and that'd have given him the outright lead. Koepka two-putts to stay level with his fellow American.

But who's this desperate to re-join the party? Kevin Kisner sinks his birdie putt from just inside 20 feet to move to nine under par - one off the lead.

  12. Postpublished at 20:34 BST 11 August 2018

    T Woods -8 (8)

Love him or loathe him, you can't deny that nothing gets golf fans - either on the course or sat on home typing away on social media networks - excited quite like a Tiger charge.

It's like a rock concert out there. Every perfect drive, every precise approach, every sunken putt... all are greeted with the same euphoria as if Keith Richards has just plucked the first note of another Stones classic.

  13. Postpublished at 20:31 BST 11 August 2018

    B Kopeka -10, G Woodland -10, K Kisner -8 (3)

Co-leader Brooks Koepka goes fairway-green as he homes in on the pin at four - nearly 40 feet out, but can he roll in from here to snatch top spot outright?

Gary Woodland is a little closer, but still a long-range birdie putt from that elusive 11 under...

  14. Another birdie for Tigerpublished at 20:30 BST 11 August 2018

    T Woods -8 (8)

Right then Tiger. This is for a third birdie on the bounce.

Couple of gentle practice putts as he visualises a left to right break from about seven feet... there it goes... too much? No! Ball kisses the right lip and is swallowed up.

Woods is up into tied third, two shots behind Gary Woodland and Brooks Koepka.

  15. Postpublished at 20:28 BST 11 August 2018

    R Fowler -8, D Johnson -7, C Schwartzel -7 (4)

That DJ, Fowler, Schwartzel trio are all successfully through the fourth without dropping a shot - all playing at level par for the day so far, with only the South African seeing any movement on his card.

  16. Postpublished at 20:25 BST 11 August 2018

    T Woods -7 (7)

This leaderboard is getting tasty. Seven major winners in the top 12 now...

Tiger Woods effortlessly sticks his approach to the par-five eighth within spitting distance. Anybody not backing him to grab another birdie? Me neither.

He's dropping putts like he's dropping down the bookies' markets. Fast. Tiger is down to about 10-1 in most betting odds.

  18. Birdie for McIlroypublished at 20:22 BST 11 August 2018

    R McIlroy -2 (10)

More birdies at Bellerive than there is chasing tit-bits left in your local town square. Rory McIlroy comes back to the party, sinking a birdie putt on 10 to move back up the leaderboard.

  19. Birdie for Spiethpublished at 20:20 BST 11 August 2018

    J Spieth -6 (8)

Nervous glances over the shoulders from the leaders. The names Spieth and Woods are racing up the leaderboard.

Back-to-back birdies for Spieth as he nails a lengthy putt on the eighth. He's put the batteries back in his short stick.
