    Good question.

Halfway through his sixth over, James Anderson has just conceded his second run. Anderson will absolutely call his evening meal tea.

Has anyone ever been invited out for dinner and turned up at lunchtime?

Anderson is continuing for now under the dark Ahmedabad sky.

Although Broad and Anderson are applying pressure, it should be time for a change now because England need wickets. They should be bringing Archer in.

  5. Ind 14-0published at 10 overs

    Rohit 10, Gill 4

You couldn't have more contrasting emotions between the two teams. Virat Kohli leans over and gives Cheteshwar Pujara a high-five after Gill chops away a four. Not sure what that about.

We should ask Joe Root what he calls his evening meal. I'm confident he wouldn't say dinner.

It's actually a class point - first-class passengers on the Titanic were served breakfast, lunch and dinner while third-class passengers were served breakfast, dinner and tea. BBC live text rightly accommodating both but I'm proudly the latter.

Broad still isn't happy with at foot hole on the crease. The groundsman is back with his basher, sending dust into the air as he thumps away.

It's true that the ball doesn't seem to be moving as much as it was before the SUPPER break. Rohit thumps one but Archer fields at mid-off.

The ball isn't doing enough here. I think this session could be the writing on the wall for England.

Okay, you've got me there but that still doesn't make an evening meal dinner. Lunch and dinner are interchangeable words for the meal in the middle of the day.

Most of the ball was missing the leg stump and you'd expect the on-field umpire to give it not out. You look at the faces of the England players - they look as if they're being burgled.

  14. Ind 10-0published at 8 overs

England seem to think the world is against them today. Had they batted better they wouldn't have to worry.

Well this won't help England's mood. It was hitting a decent amount of leg stump but only enough for umpire's call. That means Shubman Gill survives.

More English heads are shaking on the field.

I'm not convinced by this review and I don't think Joe Root is either.

Stuart Broad is off with his trademark celebrappeal. He doesn't even turn to the umpire. Naughty.

Broad can't believe this lbw shout has been turned down. Root reviews.
