Personally, I thought Rohit had just done enough to get back. But I'd have liked a few more replays to be sure. Of course the umpires don't have to look at a every replays for all decisions but that was close.

By the way, you can now tick off 'misfield on the boundary' on your England horror day bingo card. Leach is the culprit.

How on earth is that not out?? You can see his foot move down after the bails are removed, meaning it must have been in the air!

I thought you had to have your foot down, not in the air over the line?

The point is that it may still be not out but it's about the procedure you go through as a third umpire. You need to checking every angle. The most important angle is the stump mic to see if the foot is in the air or not.

  4. Ind 91-2published at 31 overs

Root protests to the on-field umpire. It was a very close call. The third umpire checked one replay and then made his decision pretty quickly again.

This is annoying me. That is really poor from the third umpire, he has not looked at every angle again. Joe Root is right in what he is saying to the umpire.

  6. Not outpublished at 16:18 GMT 24 February 2021

It seems Rohit has just, and I mean just, got his boot down.

But England are not happy again.

It was a beautiful delivery and Foakes with those quick hands again. England think they've got him here.

Could this be a positive end to the day? Ben Foakes' sensational hands are in the game again. He thinks he has Rohit stumped.

That mistake will probably be enough for Kohli to knuckle down and ensure he's there at the close. A miserable, miserable day for England.

It was a strange shot from Kohli and it might have just thrown Pope. It didn't come to him quickly and it just popped out.

  12. dropped catch

Kohli dropped on 24published at 29.1 overs

Oh, down! This is a proper drop and it's Pope again. Now this really can be put up there with England's worst days. Kohli just guided the ball to Pope at gully off Anderson but he spilled it in front of his chest.

  13. Ind 91-2published at 29 overs

Now then, Ollie Pope flies through the air and almost takes a stunner of a catch.

Rohit crouches down low to play a paddle sweep off Leach and Pope, at short leg, is already on the move to his right.

He manages get one hand on it but can't hold on. Would have been a beauty and incredibly harsh to put it down as a drop. Great anticipation, top effort.

It's quietening down in Ahmedabad. Are people getting sleepy or have they just worn themselves out? The home supporters have had a lot to cheer in fairness.

Kohli adds more misery to England by punch Anderson for four. There are some glum faces in the field now.

I'm not sure the British public could take that one one today. The bun/roll/cob debate is best left alone for now too.

Leach finds turn. Kohli and Rohit shake hands after bringing up their fifty partnership. On we go with 30 minutes remaining in the day.

Scone rhymes with gone, just saying.

  20. Ind 83-2published at 26 overs

    Rohit 50, Kohli 19

Leach is out of the attack for now. James Anderson has returned for another spell. There's still very little swing under the lights.

Kohli sends one back to the bowler from the dead centre of his bat. Anderson's response is one of the larger puffs of the cheeks you'll see. Poor Jim.
