Time for a change of tactic?

England coach Tracey Neville scribbles some notes for her half-time team talk after her side lose the second quarter 13-11.

They still lead but Uganda have the crowd on their side and head off court with a visible spring in their step.

Wales are guaranteed at least two silver medals in the lawn bowls as former world champion Laura Daniels beats Kelly McKerihen of Canada 21-13 in the women’s singles semi-final while the men’s pairs defeat the Cook Islands 21-14 to reach the final.

Daniels: 'I’m over the moon to get a silver at my first Games but I need to put that to the back of my head and pretend I haven't won a medal. I’m going for gold. That’s why I came.'

Daniels - who won the 2016 World pairs title in Auckland - will play New Zealand's Jo Edwards at 17.30 (8.30 BST) in the gold medal match while the men's pairs play Malta tomorrow.

He is a former world champion at this distance and has run 9.69 in the past so could well be the man to beat.

The majority of crowd are throwing their support behind Cameroon in Townsville, but it's England who are well in control as we move into the final quarter.

Cameroon have given away too many fouls and England have looked a much more polished unit.

    We are in shock.

No-one had predicted anything other than a Max Whitlock gold today on the floor but I guess that’s why we love sport - for the unpredictability!

Whitlock made one major mistake but he wasn’t alone as only one of the finallists managed to improve on the score they achieved in qualifying for the final.

Great to see Scotland’s Dan Purvis on the podium, he’s had a tough time since missing out on a place in the world championship squad last year.

Can Whitlock recover for the pommel horse? This is the event in which he took home silver four years ago, but won the Olympic title in at Rio 2016.

There were gasps around the Carrara Stadium as Nick Miller sent the hammer sailing out beyond the blue line marking the previous Commonwealth Games record and thudding to the turf for a new lifetime best of 80.26m.

That was also a new British record and the gold medal signed, sealed and delivered. Matthew Denny threw a new lifetime best as well.

Only two men - Polish pair Pawel Fajdek and Wojciech Nowicki - threw further in the whole of 2017. The same throw from Miller in the admittedly chillier World Championships last year would have earned gold.
