    A surfer

A brief wander just 20ft from the beach volleyball venue presents me with a guy assessing the surf. He’s lost to everything other than where the waves look good.

A walkway parts two beaches. To the right you have a compound where teams are busy fine tuning their game.

    Workout area

And to the left you have nothing but beauty. Anyone else wishing they’d tried to take up beach volleyball as a kid? Yep, me too.

He's really emotional as he steps down from the pommel and gets a massive, lifted off the floor hug from his coach.

And it's a huge score! He gets 15.100 and he's into the lead!

Uganda peg England backpublished at 06:46 BST 8 April 2018

    HT: England 29-21 Uganda

Uganda started to show more intent in the second quarter, forcing errors from England and closing the gap in the score.

It came after Roses coach Tracey Neville made changes at the start of the second quarter, which appeared to disrupt their rhythm, but they soon found their flow again and hold a handy eight-goal lead at half time.

Uganda win the second period 11-14. They're playing in their first Commonwealth Games, remember. A great effort so far, against the world's number three side.
