It got tense and a little bit messy but England have done it. They've survived a formidable challenge from the She Cranes to chalk up their third win in a row in their pool.

Hugs all around from the Red Roses after an entertaining match.

"We're not used to playing that style but got through it," said England's Serena Guthrie.

The tension is cranking up at the Belmont Shooting Centre after the second elimination.

England's Emily Hibbs, 19, is unable to hold her nerve and is knocked out after a double miss to score 24/30 targets so she finishes fifth.

Hibbs' compatriot Amber Hill is still well in contention though and is joint second alongside Cypriot Panayiota Andreou with 25/30 one behind Andri Eleftheriou.

It's getting very noisy in here as Uganda test England in the final quarter.

Inspired by the crowd they seem quicker and more aggressive but a couple of turnovers give England some breathing space.

Botswana's Isaac Makwala, whose campaign at London 2017 was famously torpedoed by a case of Hackney belly, saunters to the finishline barely feathering the throttle.

He is the fastest man in the world this year and not far off the most confident judging by some of his pre-race clowning.

A pout, a little finger frame for his race number - Usain Bolt may be gone buy his legacy lives on in the sport's culture.

A tough challenge faced Wales’ Tesni Evans in her women’s singles semifinal - she faced England’s Sarah-Jane Perry, a player she’d never beaten before, who cruised 3-0 into the final.

Evans tells me she’s bitterly disappointed but when reminded that there’s still a bronze medal to go for she tells me “she’ll fight for her life” to get on that podium.

Uganda continued their momentum after the break, as England dropped off the pace.

The She Cranes were having considerable success in attack, and Roses coach Tracey Neville had seen enough, bringing Geva Mentor, who is playing at her fifth Games, back on at goal keeper.

Uganda closed the gap even further and have real belief going into the final quarter.

The jump test is being replicated at the beach volleyball complex where people - young and old - are setting their PB height (and often return to try to better it).
