Summary

  1. silver medal

Silver medal - Funmi Oduwaiye (Wales)published at 20:15 BST 29 July

    Women's discus throw F42-44/F61-64 final

It's silver and bronze for Wales!

Funmi Oduwaiye can't overhaul Nigeria's Goodness Nwachukwu, who takes gold, but it's a great effort - a season's best and Games record with her first attempt.

Nwachukwu already knows she's won to defend her title and then sends down her best throw of the night to celebrate.

Bree Cronin takes the bronze. Another two medals to cherish for Wales.

    Women's 800m semi-finals

The world champion looked completely at ease there.

On the shoulder of leader Shafiqua Maloney until the home straight when she made her move, driving past to take the win.

Maloney of St Vincent & Grenadines is second, Jamaica's Kelly-Ann Beckford is also through in third.

But it'll be a nervous wait for Wales' Isabelle Boffey to see if she will make the final after finishing fourth.

It's semi-final time in the women's 800m and there are some top class athletes hoping to make it through to battle for a medal in the final.

Scotland's Erin Wallace and Wales' Isabelle Boffey are in the first heat alongside world champion Lilian Odira of Kenya.

  4. netball

Wales still trail but a better third quarterpublished at 20:05 BST 29 July

Netball - New Zealand 51-25 Wales

An improved performance from Wales in the third quarter, as they were only out-scored by five goals - as opposed to 11 and 10 in the opening two quarters.

However it is the Silver Ferns who extend their lead to 26, with victory inevitable at The Hydro.

Work for the Wales pair to do if either are to take gold - and only one round remaining.

Funmi Oduwaiye has been replaced at the top of the leaderboard by Nigeria's Goodness Nwachukwu.

It means Oduwaiye is now second with Bree Cronin third.

    England's Ndidikama Okoh is sixth.

    Men’s 200m freestyle final

England's James Guy and Wales' Matt Richards train together and now they're collecting a Commonwealth Games silver medal together after tying for second spot.

A remarkable gold medal for Australian Kai Taylor, it must be said, after the 22-year-old won the men’s 200m freestyle final from lane one.

The women's shot put is the next final to begin, that is due to start at 20:01 BST.

Adele Nicoll of Wales is the sole home nations representative in this one.

Gold medal - Kyle Chalmers & Ben Armbruster (Australia)published at 19:57 BST 29 July

    Men’s 50m butterfly final

Absolutely rapid from the Australians again who pick up back-to-back 1-2-3s...

There is nothing to separate Kyle Chalmers and Ben Armbruster who win a joint gold medal - and in doing so, set the Commonwealth Games record with a time of 22.73.

Cameron McEvoy adds another bronze to his very long list of career medals. That must be one crowded medal cabinet for the 32-year-old.

Fresh off competing at the Winter Olympics in February in the women's bobsleigh, three-time British champion Adele Nicoll is back in an athletics vest as she competes for Wales in the women's shot put.

Her athletics winter training block was interrupted by her exploits on the ice in Milan-Cortina.

After an eighth place finish in Birmingham in 2022 she is targeting at least a top five spot tonight and hasn't ruled out a medal.

Chalmers wins to reach finalpublished at 19:55 BST 29 July

    Men's 400m hurdles heats

Alastair Chalmers will have the chance to claim another Commonwealth medal after coming through to win this heat in 48.92 seconds.

He holds off Jamaican Assinie Wilson and it's England's Joshua Faulds in third.

But I think it's going to be disappointment for Faulds, his 49.71 is the third fastest of the non-automatic qualifiers and only two go through.

One blink and you'll miss it, race done, another to come next.

England's Jacob Peters and Scotland's Dean Fearn will try and challenge Australian duo and favourites Kyle Chalmers and Ben Armbruster.

Oh, and the small matter of their compatriot Callum McEvoy to overcome as well.

Gold medal - Meg Harris (Australia)published at 19:52 BST 29 July

    Women’s 50m freestyle final

Meg Harris wins gold and it's 1-2-3 for Australia...

Harris trailed at the midway point but fought back at the end to clinch victory in 24.23 seconds.

Alex Perkins was 0.30 seconds behind to take silver and Shayna Jack just 0.04 seconds further for the bronze.

Welsh 17-year-old Theodora Taylor finishes 0.23 seconds shy of a medal in fourth.

One last heat in the men's 400m hurdles and one more Englishman.

It's Joshua Faulds this time, he and Guernsey's Alastair Chalmers - bronze medallist four years ago - should be in the mix.

Jamaica's Assinie Wilson is the fastest in the heat on paper.

England have two runners in the final already, of course.

It is Team Northern Ireland's third medal in the pool in Glasgow.

England boxer Elise Glynn is beaten in her 57kg quarter-final by India's Jaismine Jaismine and it’s a 4-1 split decision that left her disappointed with the judges scoring. “She’s a world champion so I knew I had it hard but that didn’t stop me," said Glynn.

"I went in full force and boxed how I could and to hear I was 3-2 down in the first round was a massive shock to me and the whole crowd.

"My coach said you can come back from this and I thought I did, so to see my hand not getting raised, and the whole audience thought I did enough to win."

A big statement from England's Madias Ngake as she lifts 108kg with her first attempt in the snatch.

She is making her Commonwealth Games debut for England having previously represented Cameroon with whom she won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

Ngake then lifts 111kg with her third attempt to take the lead.

Australia's Eileen Cikamatana (108kg) is currently in second place with Rose Beaudoin of Canada (103kg) third.

This looks like being a close run thing with the clean and jerk section to come.

Minshull through in secondpublished at 19:45 BST 29 July

    Men's 400m hurdles heats

Nigeria's Ezekiel Nathaniel was the favourite and looked it as he cruises through.

He had a healthy lead and was able to ease off a little down the home straight.

England's Jake Minshull is right on her shoulder by the end. A very strong finish from him to advance.

Huge cheers reverberate around Tollcross Swimming Centre as Angharad Evans steps up on the podium to be presented with her gold medal - a second of the 2026 Commonwealth Games for the 23-year-old.

A proud rendition of Flower of Scotland for Evans follows.

    What a moment.

  20. netball

Commanding lead for New Zealand at half-timepublished at 19:43 BST 29 July

Netball - New Zealand 36-15 Wales

It does not look like there will be a shock on the cards in the netball this evening, as New Zealand hold a commanding 21 point lead over Wales at half-time.

Nansi Kuti, Georgia Rowe and Phillipa Yarrington have all scored five goals for Wales.

As things stand the Silver Ferns will jump Jamaica into top spot in Group B.
