  1. Lunch at Grace Roadpublished at 13:03 BST 4 April

    Leicestershire 139-5 v Sussex 361

Stevie Eskinazi negotiates the final pre-lunch over at Grace Road, bowled by Tom Haines, but it has very much been Sussex's morning.

Leicestershire have added 123 but lost four wickets in the process, three of them taken by paceman Henry Crocombe.

Australian Jake Weatherald has looked good on debut for the Foxes and is 77 not out, but they need a decent partnership or two to get anywhere close to parity.

  2. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 13:03 BST 4 April

    Middlesex 382-6 v Glos

Gloucestershire were generous with their dropped catches yesterday allowing Middlesex to rebuild from 194-5. This could be a long old season for Glos with their limited seam resources if the fielders don't support them well too.

The South-African-born left-hander Leus du Plooy haunted Gloucestershire once again, he made a career-best 263* against the same opponents in the final match of last season at Lords. Today he reached a century off 148 balls and carried on to be 160* at the interval.

Glos' first three seamers are all going at under three an over still, ideal for four-day cricket, but their other four bowlers have struggled to keep a lid on particularly quick run scoring from du Plooy and Joe Cracknell.

The latter agonisingly missing out on an opening innings century, falling for 97 to the part-time spin of Graeme van Buuren just before the interval.

  3. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:01 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 34-0

    Harry Everett
    BBC Sport from Taunton

Again Dillon Pennington bowled well, getting both Jack Leach and Miggy Pretorius for 11 this morning.

Craig Overton tried to farm the strike and reached 60* before he ran out of partners, Jake Ball agonisingly being dismissed three short of that crucial third bonus batting point.

Ball was Pennington's fifth wicket, 5-65 could have been more as he drew many play and misses over the first 103.5 overs of the season.

Notts could have lost Haseeb Hameed to his opposite skipper in the first over of the reply, Craig Overton furious the lbw was not given.

Ben Slater played some nice shots off Alfie Ogborne, who was replaced by Ball after three overs. Ball bowled well without reward as Craig Overton kept himself on for six overs until the interval, Notts just happy to survive with 10 wickets intact still.

  4. 50 runs

for Rob Yatespublished at 12:59 BST 4 April

    Warwicks 121-1 v Surrey 328

He made a century and a fifty in the opening round last season and he might just do the same again here.

Rob Yates made a patient start but has gone through the gears and clips Matt Fisher to square leg to bring up his half-century from 89 balls, 10 of which have found the rope.

Fine platform from which Warwickshire can build this afternoon.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:57 BST 4 April

    Pepper lbw b Yusuf 32 (Hants v Essex 303-5)

This has not been easy for Hants bowlers but Codi Yusuf has a breakththrough five minutes before the lunch break as Michael Pepper is pinned in front.

A second batting point for Essex had arrived minutes before with a four off the still energetic bowling of Sonny Baker.

But Essex had been coasting to that point and still have the imposing figure of Matt Critchley going strong on 128.

Noah Thain, the first ever fully functioning substitute, is at the crease with him.

  6. wicket

    Hill b Crocombe 0 (Leics 137-5 v Sussex)

    Henry CrocombeImage source, Getty Images

James Anderson may be bowling a brilliant spell for Lancashire at Northampton, but this one by Henry Crocombe isn't bad either.

The Sussex paceman whistles one through the defences of Lewis Hill and he now has 3-19 from 5.2 overs so far.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:55 BST 4 April

    Davies c Pope b Lawrence 58 (Warwicks 116-1 v Surey 328)

Oh dear. He's left a lot out there.

Dan Lawrence's golden arm makes the breakthrough for Surrey as Alex Davies gets down on one knee to slog-sweep the spinner but can only smash it straight into the hands of Ollie Pope at short mid-wicket.

The first blip on a wonderful day for Davies, and he's paid the ultimate price.

Dan Mousley joins Rob Yates, who is unbeaten in 49.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:52 BST 4 April

    Cracknell b van Buuren 97 (Middx 375-6 v Glos)

So near and yet so far for Joe Cracknell.

He tries to work a ball from Graeme van Buuren into the leg-side but it turns and leaves him, hitting the top of off stump.

    In other words, a jaffa!

Cracknell added 181 with Leus du Plooy, who is 155 not out and has been joined by former Gloucestershire player Zafar Gohar.

  9. Postpublished at 12:51 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 26-0

Good start from Jake Ball, drawing a false drive from Ben Slater, would have been almost into the hands of a fourth slip, but Tom Abell at third cannot dive across to stop.

The only runs scored off Ball's first over, a moral victory for the former Notts and England man.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:49 BST 4 April

    Sales c Jones b Anderson 2 (Northants 41-5 v Lancs 384)

    Oh stop it Jimmy.

You'll be getting a call up for England next. This is an unplayable spell from the veteran who now has 4-24.

Two balls after sending Saif Zaib on his way, he squares up James Sales with a delivery that starts leg and straightens to take the edge.

Michael Jones takes a second catch of the over and Northants are under a spell here.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:48 BST 4 April

    Ahmed c Simpson b Crocombe 11 (Leics 137-4 v Sussex 361)

A brilliant piece of fielding by Tom Price sets up a wicket for Sussex.

His dive and save denies Jake Weatherald a boundary, bringing Rehan Ahmed onto strike and he edges Henry Crocombe to the keeper, the fast bowler's second wicket in successive overs.

  12. Postpublished at 12:48 BST 4 April

    Derbys 534-5 v Worcs

Martin Andersson moves on to 219* with Anuj Dal on 27* - the duo have added 80 from 93 balls since Luis Reece departed.

How much is enough for the visitors? In terms of time or runs?

  13. Early bowling change at Tauntonpublished at 12:48 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 22-0

Alfie Ogborne gets just three overs with the new ball, might seem harsh but probably shrewd captaincy from the man bowling at the other end.

Craig Overton takes him off after an expensive start, Jake Ball gets a go whilst the ball is still new vs his former club.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:45 BST 4 April

    Zaib c Jones b Anderson 4 (Northants 39-4 v Lancs 384)

And that is a big wicket for Lancs.

Saif Zaib was the leading runs scorer not only for Northants last season but for the whole of Division Two.

  15. Early lunch in CLSpublished at 12:45 BST 4 April

    Kent 126-6 v Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The weather forecast suggested there was a 90% chance of rain by 12pm. The elements eventually turned at 12.30pm, with the players leaving the field for an early lunch.

That break technically started at 12.45pm, but the forecast for this afternoon is rather mixed and it remains to be seen how much cricket we will see.

Either way, the 90 minutes possible so far today proved rather damaging from a Kent point of view. They resumed this morning on 50-2 but then lost 3-3 in nine balls, with Ben Raine striking twice in one over.

He got Tawanda Muyeye LBW for 10 and had Daniel Bell-Drummond caught in the slips by Kasey Alrdidge for a fourth-ball duck, to bring up his 300th First Class wicket for the county.

Matty Potts then got Joey Evison caught behind for two as Kent slipped from 65-2 to 68-5.

Chris Benjamin fell just before the rain arrived. He was on 19 when he pulled Aldridge to Raine in the covers, to give the bowler his first Durham wicket.

  16. Postpublished at 12:45 BST 4 April

    Glamorgan 155-5 v Yorks

It's been attritional fare at Sophia Gardens this morning but Glamorgan have passed 150, with Colin Ingram pushing the ball into a gap on the off-side off Matthew Revis.

  17. Postpublished at 12:44 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 20-0

A late upper cut from Ben Slater over backward point for four is followed by a loose full toss from Alfie Ogborne smashed through cover for four.

Just searching a little too much is the young left-armer against probably the best opening pair in recent seasons (vying with Dom Sibley and Rory Burns, another top right/left hand opening combo).

  18. 50 runs

for Alex Daviespublished at 12:43 BST 4 April

    Warwicks 99-0 v Surrey 328

Lovely stuff from Alex Davies, bringing up a half-century with his 11th boundary from 71 balls, working Matt Fisher into the leg side yet again.

He made six of those fifties without turning one into three figures last season, the way he's playing you wouldn't bet against him doing so today.

The following ball a single brings up three-figures for the Bears.

A chanceless morning for the hosts who have taken a firm grip on the game.

  19. Postpublished at 12:42 BST 4 April

    Leics 126-3 v Sussex 361

Rehan Ahmed collects the first boundary of his innings, flicking Ollie Robinson through square leg. The England paceman responds, as all good pacemen should, with a fine delivery which just misses the outside edge.

  20. Postpublished at 12:41 BST 4 April

    Som 347 v Notts 11-0

    Harry Everett
    BBC Sport from Taunton

There were no lbws at all in the first innings I have just realised.

Perhaps Notts went a foot or so short and did not bring the stumps into play enough.

Alfie Ogborne may bring the ball back in from a full length to change that statistic whilst Craig Overton is more of the bang it in type.

No Josh Davey anymore for Somerset of course, he was probably the most likely to get an lbw for the home side at Taunton.
