    Som 347 v Notts 77-2

Massive celebrappeal from Alfie Ogborne, joined by the entire cordon.

Alfie Ogborne angling one across Joe Clarke as he famously did twice to James Vince, from his debut in this format.

Not given, Clarke still on 0.

  2. Postpublished at 14:31 BST 4 April

    Durham 335 v Kent 162-8

Attritious stuff from Kent in thoroughly unpleasant batting conditions, cold, breezy, drizzle, fired up and quality bowling attack, green top.

Sam Northeast has worked his way into the 70s while Keith Dudgeon has faced 37 deliveries for his 11*, though ball 38 from Matthew Potts thumps him in the ribs as he tries a pull shot, though the ball runs away from the timbers.

    Still 173 behind.

  3. wicket

    Bartlett c Singh b Bailey 31 (Northants 103-6 v Lancs 384)

Harry Singh makes partial amends for dropping Nathan McSweeney when the Northant's vice captain was yet to score by grabbing a sharp chance to dismiss George Bartlett.

That is a key wicket as the pair had added 62 for the sixth wicket and were in the process of dragging Northants back into the contest.

As it is Tom Bailey's second wicket has piled the pressure on the home side who now have to rebuild with a fresh batter at the crease and the ball still moving laterally despite the sunshine.

Jimmy gets James Sales He got his Dad David years ago First bowler to bag a father-son combo?

    Chris, Sussex

It's not the first instance... the Chanderpauls and Cairns pairings have been ousted by a few bowlers in Test cricket, but it is very rare and yet another James Anderson stat to make you sit up and take notice of his longevity.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:25 BST 4 April

    Gohar b Price c Phillips 26 (Middlesex 419-7 v Glos)

Zafar Gohar is dismissed by his former employers.

His former teammate Ollie Price having him caught by young batter Joe Phillips (who did not play much with Gohar before he moved to Lords).

Leus du Plooy meanwhile is 173*.

Will Middlesex keep batting until he is out, or until the whole team is out?

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:23 BST 4 April

    Cooke b Revis 30 (Glamorgan 196-6 v Yorks)

Not sure what Chris Cooke was trying to do there.

The Glamorgan keeper seemed to change his mind as he pushed forward to Matthew Revis and plays on via the inside edge.

Cooke helped Colin Ingram add 67 for Glamorgan's seixth wicket.

  7. Postpublished at 14:23 BST 4 April

    Leics 167-7 v Sussex 361

Ollie Robinson takes a breather after an excellent post-lunch spell which brought him the wickets of Stevie Eskinazi and Jake Weatherald.

Henry Crocombe takes over and is looking to add to his three victims from the morning session.

After a great morning for Warwickshire hopefully we push forward for some crucial batting points. It's been Warwickshire's day.. my first couple of sessions as a Member after a few seasons watching from afar and it feels like a great start so far..

There's nothing like being at a game in person, but add in following the live text while you're there... looking like a Super Saturday for you, Lauren.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:20 BST 4 April

    Hameed c Lammonby b Pretorius 33 (Som 347 v Notts 72-2)

What a catch from Tom Lammonby, diving forward from cover to his left.

Just clinging on above the turf.

Hameed survived some beauties, playing and missing outside off stump and then falls to a half volley he thought he had nailed for four!

Joe Clarke in at four to join Freddie McCann.

  10. Postpublished at 14:19 BST 4 April

    Durham 335 v Kent 152-8

Keith Dudgeon has been very happy to hog the majority of the strike since joining the well set Sam Northeast.

He flashes a cover drive at Kasey Aldridge but it comes off a thick inside edge and skids across his stumps and away to long leg allowing the South African to run three.

The deficit is down to 183.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:15 BST 4 April

    Dal b Taylor 55 (Derbys 582-7 v Worcs)

Anuj Dal tries to whip Tom Taylor through mid-wicket but the ball holds its line and flattens off stump.

That Taylor's third wicket of the innings, but they have cost him 131 runs.

Still no declaration as Ben Aitchison comes out to bat.

  12. Postpublished at 14:13 BST 4 April

    Glamorgan 192-5 v Yorks

Leg-stump half-volley from Matthew Revis and Chris Cooke flicks it away fine for four runs. He is 29 not out, having been dropped by Adam Lyth just before lunch, and Colin Ingram has 88.

A good round for Derbyshire & ex Derbyshire batters, centuries for Andersson, Reece, Du Plooy & Critchley

    Mark, Derby

Somerset will not win many games with the attack playing in this game. No quality seamer other than Craig!! Feel it’s been a poor winter in terms of new signings!

    Simon, Somerset

So if Sir Jimmy Anderson takes a load of wickets before the first test will the selectors admit they were wrong & call him up again.

    Isabella, London

I agree with your inference that we can’t say a bit of early season form means that a player is suddenly the solution to our opening batsman problem. Well done to Andersson but he is middle order batsman in Div 2. No need to look beyond Dom Sibley.

    Chris, Hants

  14. 50 runs

for Anuj Dalpublished at 14:07 BST 4 April

    Derbys 575-6 v Worcs

How many runs will be 'enough' for Derbyshire?

Anuj Dal on-drives Matthew Waite for four and goes to 50 from 71 balls.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:06 BST 4 April

    Yates c Burns b Abbott 70 (Warwicks 152-2 v Surrey 328)

Rather serene progress for the hosts since lunch but out of the blue they have lost a second wicket.

Sean Abbott gets one to lift up nicely at left-hander Rob Yates who can only edge off the shoulder of the bat through to Rory Burns at first slip.

Another very solid foundation goes awry for Bears.

Sam Hain joins Dan Mousley to try to reduce the 176-run deficit.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:06 BST 4 April

    Weatherald b Robinson 83 (Leics 154-7 v Sussex 361)

    Jake WeatheraldImage source, Shutterstock

    That's the one they wanted.

Error of judgment by Jake Weatherald, who tries to cut a ball that is not wide enough for the shot and chops it into his stumps.

Four wickets now for Ollie Robinson, whose Sussex side are in control of this game.

  17. 50 stand for Glamorganpublished at 14:04 BST 4 April

    Glamorgan 179-5 v Yorks

Acting captain has a silly mid-on in place for Chris Cooke, but the Glamorgan batter pushes a ball from George Hill into to the off-side for a comfortable single as he and Colin Ingram post a 50 partnership.

  18. Postpublished at 14:03 BST 4 April

    Durham 335 v Kent 140-8

Chance? A very hard one, if so.

Sam Northeast edges Kasey Aldridge off his hip down the leg side and his old teammate Ollie Robinson flies to his left but can't get his glove around it as the ball skids away for four runs to take Northeast to 64*.

  19. Postpublished at 14:03 BST 4 April

    Hants v Essex 320-6

What Hants have been lacking in this Essex innings is a combination punch because for every breakthrough Essex have managed to rebuild fairly easily and step into another partnership.

Simon Harmer arrived at the crease after the pre-lunch dismissal of Noah Thain but already he is looking comfortable on 10 with Matt Critchley (132).

Spin from Liam Dawson aims to break them apart but there are no obvious faultlines showing as yet. Perhaps Kyle Abbott can crack them from the other end.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:01 BST 4 April

    Slater b Pretorius 30 (Som 347 v Notts 59-1)

Just left him enough, angled in but held it's line a fraction.

We have not seen Ben Slater miss too many deliveries today, he was looked in good touch.

Somerset needed that breakthrough, the overseas providing it.
