  1. Fitzpatrick moves one off leadpublished at 18:34 BST 11 July

    McIlroy -9, M. Fitpatrick -9 (2)

Rory McIlroy's approach leaves him an almighty putt for birdie. It's a good 70 feet, at least.

He does well, manoeuvring it up and over a few contours in the green, but it comes to rest short of the hole, and he'll have to focus to make par.

Which he does, from a few feet away, and heads for the third tee.

Putting from a mere 11 feet, Matt Fitzpatrick capitalises on a beauty of an approach to go to nine under, level with McIlroy.

    Game on.

    Clark -9 (8)

Current US Open champion Wyndham Clark is lurking ominously.

“Come on the Blades”, shouts one fan to try perk Matt Fitzpatrick up.

  6. Postpublished at 18:21 BST 11 July

    McIlroy -9, M. Fitpatrick -8

Rory McIlroy's birdie look on the first just blows past on the left edge, he tilts his head and looks a tad exasperated at that one not dropping.

Likewise, Matt Fitzpatrick has to watch on as his attempt misses too.

    Armitage -9 (10)

Marcus Armitage turns into trouble, dropping his first shot at the 10th.

The Northern Irishman’s second shot drew too much and finished left of the first green.

    McIlroy -9, M. Fitpatrick -8

Rory McIlroy gets a bit too much draw on his approach and loops it back across the wrong side of the green.

For Matt Fitzpatrick, he took a bit off it and has 75 yards in. Maybe the smarter play in these conditions.

The Englishman is up first and sticks it pin high. Well played.

  10. Keefer goes joint toppublished at 18:13 BST 11 July

    Keefer -10 (15)

Johnny be good. American Johnny Keefer moves into a share of the lead with a birdie on the par-three 15th.

That's back-to-back gains for the American and a third in four holes.

He is now alongside Marcus Armitage on 10 under.

  11. Will Fitzpatrick make the football?published at 18:11 BST 11 July

    McIlroy -9, M. Fitzpatrick -8

Matt Fitzpatrick may feel a bit outnumbered on the course today.

As we mentioned, there are a bunch of Norway hats, flags, and some tops kicking about too.

He has just shy of four hours to plot his way around the course if he wants to see kick-off tonight between England and the Norwegians.

A big cheer for Matt Fitzpatrick on the first tee and Sheffield’s finest sends his drive down the left side of the fairway.

His playing partner gets an even bigger cheer - unsurprisingly.

Rory McIlroy is undoubtedly the biggest draw for fans here, plenty of whom are well-oiled after today’s delayed start.

Two decent drives off the first for the marquee pairing of the day.

Matt Fitzpatrick takes it down the middle, while Rory McIlroy's shot creeps into the first cut, but it's sitting up.

Will either of them be in pole position ahead of Sunday's action?

    MacIntyre -7, Luiten -7 (1)

An inviting look for birdie on the first for Bob MacIntyre pulls up a good foot or two short.

Joost Luiten has a shout at birdie too, but his doesn't drop either.

A pair of pars on the first.

  15. Armitage takes solo leadpublished at 17:59 BST 11 July

    Armitage -10 (9)

Marcus Armitage takes the outright lead with a solid birdie on the ninth.

His tee shot winds up just five feet from the hole on the par three, and he keeps the momentum going with a confident putt for a brilliant front nine of 30.

We have a new leader, folks.

    Gotterup -8, Perez -7 (2)

Defending champion Chris Gotterup serves notice he won't give up the trophy lightly.

The American starts in style with a birdie after two mighty hits left him just short to the right of the green on the par five.

He has another good chance on two, but his putt from inside six feet burns the left edge of the hole.

It's a par-par start for playing partner Victor Perez.

  17. It's almost Rory timepublished at 17:50 BST 11 July

Rory McIlroy is primed and ready for action.

The joint leader gets his third round under way in around 15 minutes' time.

He now has extra company at the top after Marcus Armitage's flying start makes it a four-way tie.

  18. MacIntyre gets third round startedpublished at 17:49 BST 11 July

Bob MacIntyre and playing partner Joost Luiten have teed off, finally.

Given our weather delay, this is roughly two hours and 40 minutes later than they were meant to be out.

MacIntyre's tee shot is safe in the fairway, but Luiten's has crept into the left rough.

  19. Armitage into joint leadpublished at 17:47 BST 11 July

    Armitage -9 (7)

Marcus Armitage gets to nine under!

The Englishman is over the back of the seventh green with his second shot, but a chip and a putt results in a birdie that takes him level with the leaders.

He's four under for the day.

  20. Birdie for Si Woopublished at 17:44 BST 11 July

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at the Renaissance Club

The pin on this signature par three is invitingly perched near the front of the green, but bunkers either side are waiting to gobble up any less-than-precise tee shots.

Both players pop it on to the putting surface but only Si Woo Kim can take advantage. He's now within one of the lead.
