  1. Par for the leaderpublished at 21:35 BST 15 May

    Potgieter -5 (15)

He's a good watch isn't he? Aldrich Potgieter carves his drive wide right, then hammers an iron out of the rough between two trees just short of the green. Then a chip and a putt for par. Easy.

  2. How tough is it out there?published at 21:31 BST 15 May

Only three holes are playing under par

It probably doesn't surprise you to see that Aronimik remains a deviously tough test.

Scanning this chart, hole nine and hole 16 look friendly.

    Everywhere else, good luck.

  3. Triple for Brownpublished at 21:30 BST 15 May

    Brown +3 (9*)

Well well, it's certainly not going Dan Brown's way today.

He's just hacked his way down the 18th towards a triple bogey seven and has covered Aronimink's back nine in 40 shots.

Having started the day two under, he's now three over and beginning to worry about making the cut.

  4. Rare birdie for Brysonpublished at 21:29 BST 15 May

    DeChambeau +9, Aberg +1, Fowler +2 (9)

Bryson DeChambeau puttingImage source, Getty Images

The 590-yard par-five ninth and Bryson DeChambeau thumps a huge drive down the fairway before a superb iron skids on to the green.

He's 21 feet from the hole but his putt comes up 12 inches short of the cup, denying him an eagle. However, he taps in for a birdie having made his only birdie of the first round on the same hole.

It's unlikely to be of any consequence for the 32-year-old American apart from making him feel a little better about himself.

Ludvig Aberg and Rickie Fowler both tap in for par.

  5. Lost ball?published at 21:29 BST 15 May

    Theegala -3 (9)

Some puzzled looks all round as Sahith Theegala hits out of the bunker on 10, seemingly hits the tree but nobody has any idea where his ball's gone?

So he has to take a drop back in the sand and just hack another one out down the fairway. Us hackers are used to losing golf balls like that but pro golfers with so many spotters on the course rarely suffer the same feat.

  6. Fore!published at 21:26 BST 15 May

    Potgieter -5 (14)

Aldrich Potgieter makes par on 14 but then hits another wayward drive on the 15th, one that takes off for a trip down the cart path before coming back onto the course in not too bad a spot actually.

  7. Birdie for Hattonpublished at 21:24 BST 15 May

    Schauffele E, Koepka -1,Hatton +4 (8)

Talk about contrasting emotions. Xander Schauffele looks thoroughly dispirited as he tropps off the eighth after being unable to knock in a long birdie putt.

Meanwhile, Tyrrell Hatton who has cut a frustrated figure since opening with three bogeys in four holes drains a 34-footer for birdie and all of a sudden allows himself a little smile.

  8. Rahm makes his movepublished at 21:23 BST 15 May

    McIlroy +2, Rahm -2, Spieth E (8)

Ugh, a big block from Rory McIlroy leaves him short-sided off the right of the green at the par-three eighth. He isn't satisfied with the contact he makes with his second either and has eight feet for par...which he pours in the middle!

With a characteristically short and speedy swing, Jon Rahm draws a nice shot in and drains his putt from 25 feet!

A first birdie of the day for the Spaniard and he's just three back.

Jordan Spieth, coming off a bogey, peppers the pin with his shot in but the putt slides past on the right and he begrudgingly accepts a three.

  9. Magic from Maverickpublished at 21:15 BST 15 May

    McNealy -3 (7*)

Maverick McNealy creates a huge noise around the 16th as he holes out from the greenside bunker, about 40 feet away, for an eagle three that sees him shoot up the leaderboard.

The American is now just two shots off the lead.

  10. Big miss for Min Woopublished at 21:11 BST 15 May

    MW Lee -2 (9)

Min Woo Lee misses a littler tiddler on nine that costs him a bogey on the par five, having chipped it on to the wrong spot in three and leaving a dastardly putt down the hill.

That scared him enough into missing his par putt from close range.

  11. Harrington, 54, making big movepublished at 21:10 BST 15 May

    Harrington +1 (7*)

Padraig Harrington will be 55 later this year but he can still mix it with these young guns.

The likeable Dubliner's US PGA triumph came 18 years ago when he held off Sergio Garcia at Oakland Hills.

After a 74 yesterday, Harrington - who has tucked away three senior majors to go with his three on the under-50s circuit - has birdied 10, 15 and 16 after starting at the 10th.

He's all smiles and well inside the cut mark as it stands.

  12. Great save!published at 21:07 BST 15 May

    Potgieter -5 (13)

Aldrich Potgieter has got a golf game! He gets a wicked connection on his chip from a tight lie on 13, but that only serves to put too much spin on it and leaves 20 feet for par.

But the young South African shows that along with his big hitting he's got a solid putting stroke as he cans it to save his par - with a well deserved fist pump to celebrate.

  13. Bryson breakdownpublished at 21:06 BST 15 May

    DeChambeau +10, Aberg +1, Fowler +2 (8)

    Bryson DeChambeauImage source, Getty Images

Things are going from bad to worse for Bryson DeChambeau, who is now 10 over.

The LIV Golfer overcooks his tee shot on the par-three eighth and then chips beyond the flag to leave himself two putts for a bogey.

He still has 10 holes left to play.

Rickie Fowler, meanwhile, is undoing much of his good work from earlier as he chalks up another bogey.

  14. Another bogey for Brownpublished at 21:04 BST 15 May

    Brown E (8*)

Dan Brown is moving in the wrong direction. He takes four at the par-three 17th after a visit to one of the greenside bunkers.

Still plenty of time to turn things around though.

  15. Spieth slips uppublished at 21:02 BST 15 May

    McIlroy +2, Rahm -1, Spieth E (7)

    Jordan SpiethImage source, Getty Images

A smoked drive down the seventh fairway, which slopes heavily from right to left, leaves just 88 yards in for Rory McIlroy, but it's not his best effort and he can't make the birdie putt from 16 feet. That's a bit disappointing after that drive.

Jon Rahm played a lovely wedge in from the left rough but he's uber-tentative with the putt and that's another par.

But it's a dropped shot for Jordan Spieth after an errant tee shot. First slip-up from this three-ball today.

  16. Wide!published at 20:56 BST 15 May

    Potgieter -5 (12)

And sure enough, just minutes after singing the praises of Aldrich Potgieter he spanks a drive miles wide left and almost off the course!

It's only just stayed in bounds, and from the high angle we can see he's only 20 yards or so short of going into somebody's swimming pool!

He hoists a wedge back in play, just short of the green and will need to get up and down for par.

  17. Bogey for Koepkapublished at 20:54 BST 15 May

    Schauffele E, Koepka -1,Hatton +5 (7)

Having worked so hard to pick up a shot Brooks Koepka gives it straight back.

The American can't control his iron out of the rough and scoots right through the putting surface to the back. It leaves an awkward chip from the thicker stuff that simply doesn't have anywhere enough gas on it. A shocker.

  18. No birdies for Brown (yet)published at 20:47 BST 15 May

    Brown -1 (7*)

    Dan BrownImage source, Getty Images

Dan Brown delighted the crowd with his hole-out eagle yesterday, but there haven't been any fireworks so far this evening.

Starting at the 10th, the Englishman dropped a shot at 12 and has just missed an eight-footer for birdie at the par-five 16th.

But at one under he's just about hanging in there and is currently leading the British charge alongside Aaron Rai, who's in the clubhouse.

  19. Par for Potgieterpublished at 20:46 BST 15 May

    Potgieter -5 (12)

He's still playing nicely is Aldrich Potgieter and showing no signs of nerves as he navigates the 12th with ease, just not really giving his birdie putt a chance to take the break so having to settle for a par.

But a clean card with no bogeys when leading a major is some playing for a 21-year-old.

  20. Big par savespublished at 20:44 BST 15 May

    McIlroy +2, Rahm -1, Spieth -1 (6)

Rory McIlroy hooks his drive into the bunker on the sixth. He only has 89 yards but it's a terribly weak effort and his ball barely reaches the front of the green before trickling back a few yards.

From 60 feet, he putts over the big hump between his ball and the flag, but it's pacey and he has six feet for par. Makes it - it just about catches the left edge and drops.

Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth both struggle to judge the pace of their birdie putts and leave themselves knee-knockers coming back, which they both rattle in. Gutsy.
