  1. Retreating Rahmpublished at 23:46 BST 15 May

    McIlroy +1, Rahm -1, Spieth +2 (14)

Rory McIlroy bludgeons his second out of the thick stuff on 15 and manages to chase it up the green. He gives his birdie putt a great run but it misses left and it's another par.

But Jon Rahm is retreating once again. Having reached three under, the Spaniard stumbles with a second bogey in three holes after missing the fairway and green in regulation.

  2. Hatton in troublepublished at 23:43 BST 15 May

    Schauffele +2, Koepka +2,Hatton +6 (15)

From bad to worse for Tyrrell Hatton, who blasts right off the tee deep into a fairway bunker.

The Englishman isn't going anywhere fast from there and can only flip his ball another 35 yards down the fairway

Back-to-back bogeys are incoming for Hatton (and Xander Schauffele) at just the wrong time.

  3. Postpublished at 23:39 BST 15 May

    McNealy -5 (16*)

Another nervy-looking stroke from the leader at the seventh but this time the ball disappears from three feet and he holds on to his slender advantage at the summit.

With a par-five still to come on the ninth, the American has a fantastic opportunity to be the solo 36-hole leader and navigate some uncharted waters over the weekend.

  4. Birdie run continues for Abergpublished at 23:38 BST 15 May

    DeChambeau +9, Aberg -2, Fowler +2 (16)

    Ludvig AbergImage source, Getty Images

Stellar stuff from Ludvig Aberg as he notches his fourth consecutive birdie!

The Swede finds the bunker with his second shot on the par-five 16th, but wedges himself out of the sand and three feet away from the hole.

Aberg duly rolls it in to move himself to two under - and three shots off the lead - before tipping the peak of his cap to the crowd.

Bryson DeChambeau and Rickie Fowler also slice a shot of their rounds.

  5. Postpublished at 23:38 BST 15 May

    Schauffele +1, Koepka +2,Hatton +5 (14)

This needs to travel a couple of feet more but Tyrrell Hatton's chip towards the pin on the 14th is short.

Dangerously short when it comes to saving par.

The Englishman only has himself to blame for failing to land his ball on a green that isn't exactly a postage stamp. And when his putt stays high he thuds his flatstick into the grass below him.

  6. 18 pars for Jaegerpublished at 23:30 BST 15 May

    Jaeger -3 (70)

    Stephan JaegerImage source, Getty Images

Given some of the carnage we've seen at Aronimink this week, Stephan Jaeger may appreciate today's round in the fullness of time.

The German meandered his way around with 18 straight pars to remain three under and secure himself a late tee time on Saturday.

He missed a ton of birdie chances out there but he's only two back. Get the putter working and he could be a factor over the weekend.

  7. Higgo misses outpublished at 23:29 BST 15 May

    Higgo +5 (76*)

Garrick Higgo taps in for birdie on the ninth after being unable to convert a long eagle opportunity.

It means the South African has fallen foul of the cut line by a solitary stroke and he of course recieved a two-shot penalty for turning up late to tee off on Thursday.

Still at least he won't need to set an alarm for Saturday morning.

  8. No changepublished at 23:28 BST 15 May

    McIlroy +1, Rahm -2, Spieth +2 (14)

Rory McIlroy hits a beauty into the par-three 14th but his ball lands on the downslope and scampers through the green.

Tough break but it's a straightforward chip for a man of his talents and he duly gets up and down to stay bogey-free today.

Pars for Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth too, so no change.

  9. Mistake from McNealypublished at 23:27 BST 15 May

    McNealy -5 (15*)

    Oh, Maverick!

McNealy drops his second shot of the day after an unconvincing prod with his putter from four feet at the sixth.

He leads by one but he'll be kicking himself after that one.

  10. Lee closing in on leaderpublished at 23:19 BST 15 May

    MW Lee -4 (16)

Min Woo Lee, does not look like he has given up hope of heading into the third round as the leader.

The Australian plays a sensational chip from just off the par-five 16th to give himself a putt for birdie that is an absolute gimme.

Back-to-back birdies put him within two strokes of Maverick McNealy, who is still out on the course, and in a tie for second with Alex Smalley, who signed for a one-over 69 earlier.

  11. Aberg on the chargepublished at 23:16 BST 15 May

    DeChambeau +10, Aberg -1, Fowler +3 (14)

Could Ludvig Aberg push himself into contention with four holes to go in his second round?

The Swede's tee shot at the par-three 14th is some 25 feet away from the cup, but he judges the pace of the green perfectly and rolls it down the hill and into the hole.

There's cheers around the green and Aberg raises his putter to acknowledge them. However, there's no real emotions shown otherwise.

Three consecutive birdies but he knows there's work still to be done.

  12. Bogeys for Rahm and Spiethpublished at 23:12 BST 15 May

    McIlroy +1, Rahm -2, Spieth +2 (13)

Rory McIlroy's in position to attack the flag at 13, but he pulls it into the bunker and looks completely perplexed.

But he plays a delicate little spinny thing out of the bunker and rolls in a momentum-maintaining par putt.

Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth, however, both make bogey! Spieth is making seriously hard work of this career Grand Slam bid.

  13. McNealy opens up two-shot leadpublished at 23:05 BST 15 May

    McNealy -6 (14*)

Maverick McNealy rolls in his birdie putt from seven feet at the par-three fifth and takes a two-shot lead.

    He's been so impressive today.

  14. Postpublished at 23:05 BST 15 May

    Schauffele E, Koepka +1,Hatton +4 (13)

Brooks Koepka looked imperious earlier on with his driver and iron play but for the second successive hole he is caught out by a visit to the longer grass off the tee.

After straying right, he's unable to find the putting surface with his second and that's all it takes for Aronimink to bare its teeth and bring a second successive bogey.

  15. Birdie for Theegalapublished at 22:59 BST 15 May

    Theegala E, MW Lee -3 (15)

After that triple-bogey seven, where Sahith Theegala somehow lost his ball on the 10th hole, the American dunks in a much-needed birdie on the 15th.

He'd only be two shots off the lead now but for that earlier misfortune.

Min Woo Lee, who is playing in the same group and probably a lot better than reflected by his scorecard, also makes a three to get back to where he started the day.

  16. Mav sets up another lookpublished at 22:58 BST 15 May

    McNealy -5 (13*)

Free-swinging Maverick McNealy passed up birdie chances on his last two holes but he's just knocked a beauty into the par-three fifth and is eyeing up another opportunity to be the first player to reach six under this week.

  17. Back-to-back birdies for Abergpublished at 22:56 BST 15 May

    DeChambeau +10, Aberg E, Fowler +3 (13)

    Ludvug AbergImage source, Getty Images

A confidence-boosting couple of holes for Ludvig Aberg who has moved to level par for the tournament after consecutive birdies.

The 26-year-old Swede's crisp iron shot to approach the 12th spun back just enough to leave him a straightforward putt from three feet.

Aberg then clipped another stroke off his score at the next after draining in putt from 27 feet much to the delight of the crowd.

  18. McIlroy makes anotherpublished at 22:53 BST 15 May

    McIlroy +1, Rahm -3, Spieth +1 (12)

    Rory McIlroyImage source, Getty Images

Jon Rahm's had quite an adventure down 12. After necking a three-wood off the tee, his ball squirts way right and ends up hitting another US Open champion in Wyndham Clark on the foot!

Rahm's able to muscle his ball up to the green and he gets up and down! What a four and it keeps his card clean.

After finding another fairway, Rory McIlroy sets up another birdie chance and he drains it! He's had to be patient but that's his third birdie of the round and he's creeping his way up the leaderboard.

Jordan Spieth collects an uneventful par so he's still looking for his first birdie.

  19. Flying the flag for Spainpublished at 22:47 BST 15 May

    Puid -2 (67), Ayora -1 (9)

Jon Rahm isn't the only Spaniard enjoying the intricacies and undulations of Aronimink.

His fellow LIV Golf player David Puig is in the clubhouse at two under after a fine 67, while Angel Ayora - an exciting young talent who is managed by Seve Ballesteros' son Javier - has moved into the red with a birdie at the ninth, having holed out from the bunker on eight.

  20. Battling Hatton bounces backpublished at 22:44 BST 15 May

    Schauffele E, Koepka E,Hatton +4 (12)

After watching Brooks Koepka head way left and the seeing Xander Schauffele completely duff his approach into the 12th, Tyrrell Hatton shows them how it is done.

Clipping just past the pin from the middle of the fairway and seeing his ball trundle in to four feet.

That brings a very welcome birdie for Hatton, although a couple more down the closing stretch wouldn't go amiss as the Englishman battles to make the cut.
