  1. Matsuyama makes movepublished at 16:01 BST 15 May

    Matsuyama -2 (12*)

While many of the world's best are struggling to stay afloat, Hideki Matsuyama continues to put together a decent round.

He's just knocked in a second birdie of a bogey-free card at the third (his 12th) and is up to -2 for the tournament.

  2. Scheffler wild againpublished at 15:55 BST 15 May

    Scheffler E, Fitzpatrick +3, Rose +5 (6*)

Wow! Scottie Scheffler is all over the place off the tee today - he's not even got one missed as he's sliced it right and pulled it left, the full range of misses in the bag.

The par-five 16th sees him wind up for another driver but pulls it so far left he could be on another hole.

And h ere's a stat for you, Scheffler has failed to find one single fairway today, with his 0-6 his worst run in the US PGA Championship.

  3. Birdies for Thomas and Youngpublished at 15:55 BST 15 May

    Young +1, Bradley +4, Thomas -1 (7*)

In the spirit of talented Americans making positive moves, Cameron Young gets his first birdie of the day as he rolls in a birdie from 23 feet from off the green.

He’s followed into the hole by Justin Thomas, who gets himself into the red with an eight-foot birdie putt.

  4. Gotterup's tidy round continues, bogey for MacIntyrepublished at 15:50 BST 15 May

    Gotterup E, MacIntyre +2, Fleetwood +4 (8*)

    Chris GotterupImage source, Getty Images

Chris Gotterup is not a player that hogs the spotlight but we ought to be shining a light on his quietly accomplished round.

Bogey-free so far, he's just rolled in his second birdie of the day from 23 feet and is back to level par for the tournament. Remember, he saw off Rory McIlroy in the Scottish Open last year for his first win on tour and contended at The Open. He's in this.

A fine bunker shot from Bob MacIntyre ought to help him save par but he misses from six feet.

  5. Smalley on par trainpublished at 15:46 BST 15 May

    Smalley -3 (5*)

Five straight pars for Alex Smalley as he remains in the lead - and par is most definitely your friend at Aronimink today. I think if he gets it around in level par today he won't be far off at all.

  6. Double for Lowrypublished at 15:43 BST 15 May

    Lowry +2, Hovland +5, Morikawa E (8*)

It's a double for Shane Lowry as he chips on from the drop zone following that bizarre water ball, and can't make a long bogey save so it's two shots gone for the Irishman.

And knowing big Shane he won't be a happy camper as he makes his way to the 18th.

It's great to see the majors playing tough, just like should be a major test. It's meant to be the best players on the toughest courses and its looking like it this week.

    Mat, Portsmouth

It’s quite refreshing to be seeing the absolute best fighting to make par. So different to the usual -15 shootouts. Helps remind all of us how hard this game is

    Kieran, Stevenage

Fully agree. I dread to think what score I'd post around Aronimik...

  8. Reed turns levelpublished at 15:41 BST 15 May

    Reed -2 (9)

Patrick Reed digs himself out of trouble on the par-five ninth to leave 11 feet for a birdie, but his effort just slides by the hole as he has to settle for a par.

And that means he completes his front nine in a level-par 35, which given conditions today will do just nicely - it's hard to see anyone making a big move today in this wind.

  9. MacIntyre gets latest birdiepublished at 15:38 BST 15 May

    Gotterup +1, MacIntyre +1, Fleetwood +4 (7*)

The Robert MacIntyre rollercoaster continues apace at the 16th (his seventh).

He's just buried another lengthy birdie putt from off the green and is back up to +1 for the tournament.

His card goes bogey-birdie-bogey-birdie for his past four holes. Some serious grit on display.

  10. Splash!published at 15:35 BST 15 May

    Lowry E, Hovland +6, Morikawa E (7*)

    Shane LowryImage source, Getty Images

Oh Shane Lowry, what have you done here?

It's not quite a shank on the 17th but he's tried to hit a low cut under the wind on the long par three but it's come out as a low, sliced squirter that's just fizzed off to the right and splashed down in the water just some 150 yards away.

A bizarre effort that has Lowry fuming.

  11. Double trouble for Fitz & Rosepublished at 15:33 BST 15 May

    Scheffler E, Fitzpatrick +3, Rose +4 (5*)

    Matt FitzpatrickImage source, Getty Images

Absolute carnage on the 14th, the long par three, but for once Scottie Scheffler isn't suffering as he gets down in two from 78 feet away on this massive green to make his par.

It's double trouble for Matt Fitzpatrick though as he takes four putts to get his ball in the hole from 73 feet away on the green - missing from seven and four feet before knocking it in.

Justin Rose has a similar nightmare, as he hits a poor chip out of the greenside rough, then a poor putt from 20 feet to still leave five feet for bogey. That's the worst putt yet though as he misses again to also make a five.

  12. Important par for Youngpublished at 15:32 BST 15 May

    Young +2, Bradley +4, Thomas E (6*)

Maybe something for Cameron Young to build from as he finds a gutsy par from 14 feet at the 15th (his sixth).

That'll keep him at two over for the tournament.

  13. Bogey for Bobpublished at 15:21 BST 15 May

    Gotterup +1, MacIntyre +2, Fleetwood +4 (6*)

It is indeed a bogey for Bob MacIntyre at 15, instantly coughing up the shot he worked so hard for on the previous hole.

  14. Near misspublished at 15:18 BST 15 May

    Reed -2 (7)

Patrick Reed is just a couple of rolls away from bouncing right back with a birdie on seven following his first dropped shot on the last.

    But it's just a par.

  15. How tough is it out there?published at 15:18 BST 15 May

    Holes bar graph showing only 1, 2, 6, 9, 11, 13 and 6 playing under par

Only six of the holes are playing under par so far today - and those that are playing over, are doing so by a bigger amount.

In essence, it's pretty brutal over there in Pennsylvania right now.

  16. Good par savepublished at 15:15 BST 15 May

    Lowry E, Hovland +6, Morikawa +1 (6*)

    Shane LowryImage source, Getty Images

Collin Morikawa drains a 15 footer to save his par on 15 but it's hard work out there at a blustery Aronimink.

Even Shane Lowry has work to do for par despite hitting the green in regulation as he had 50 feet to cover in two to make his four.

  17. Postpublished at 15:12 BST 15 May

    MacIntyre +1 (5*)

    Aronimink gives and takes away.

No sooner had Bob MacIntyre started moving his round in the correct direction with a birdie at 14, he's struggling again at 15.

After visiting a fairway bunker, he's facing a 43-foot putt to save par.

  18. Scheffler in freefallpublished at 15:11 BST 15 May

    Scheffler E, Fitzpatrick +1, Rose +2 (4*)

    Scottie SchefflerImage source, Getty Images

Nobody saw this coming, but Scottie Scheffler is in all kinds of trouble now after his third bogey in four holes sees him wipe out all the gains he made in the first round.

He missed another fairway on the short par-four 13th but did the hard work to get back into the hole and leaving five feet for his par, but the putter then let him down as he made a five.

Justin Rose also makes a bogey here as Aronimink continues to show its teeth.

  19. Kaymer scramblingpublished at 15:09 BST 15 May

    Kaymer +2 (9)

I'll just bring you up to speed with Martin Kaymer, who was one of seven players leading overnight, and has just reached the turn.

After five bogeys in six holes, two straight pars has stabilised his round, but at +2, he's tumbled out of contention for now.

Currently, two over is the projected cut line although with half the field still to tee off, plenty could change.
