  1. Will this hole decide the US Open?published at 21:57 BST 21 June

The shortest hole on this golf course is arguably the most dangerous.

At just 157 yards the great Lee Trevino once described this hole as the shortest par five in golf! It sits at the highest point of the property and slopes severely off the front and back.

The pin is in the middle of the green today because there’s nowhere else it can go with the greens running at the fastest we’ve seen all week.

Scary to play but fun to watch!

  3. How does a US Open play-off work?published at 21:53 BST 21 June

    It's a two-hole aggregate play-off over 17 and 18 - lowest score wins.

If that doesn't separate the players, then they go head to head, sudden death.

They've never actually used the current format of two holes. It used to be a full 18. I'm not sure my keyboard would stand up to that.

  4. Stunner from Kimpublished at 21:53 BST 21 June

    Kim -1 (11)

    Oh yes!

Tom Kim bogeyed the 10th to drop back to level par, but he's shoots the lights out at the par-three 11th. It doesn't quite curl back enough for an ace, but it's a superb bounceback birdie and he's back to one under.

    Nervy play-off anyone??

Thumbs if you're here for it...

  6. Burns to win?published at 21:49 BST 21 June

A fantastic par save from Sam Burns.

He holed that beautifully. The rhythm to his putting stroke is, I think, better than anybody.

I'm going Burns for the win.

  7. Burns holds his nervepublished at 21:47 BST 21 June

    Burns -3, Mitchell -1 (13)

That's a big mistake from Sam Burns.

From 125 yards in the fairway, he's miles short with his second and it falls off the front of the green.

He holds his nerve to clip a nice chip, but it's a pressure-packed six-footer for a par. With holes running out, he can't afford to fritter away shots.

In it goes! That's a fine four.

  8. Poston slips backpublished at 21:47 BST 21 June

    Poston E (17)

Can we blame JT Poston's mistake at the 17th on the intense scrutiny that comes with a greater role in our live text?

What else can explain his duffed par putt from six feet?

A bad time to make an avoidable bogey.

  9. What awaits the leaders?published at 21:45 BST 21 June

The back nine holes - 12, 13 and 16 playing under par

Both Wyndham Clark and Scottie Scheffler have been brilliant on the back nine this week - and they will be encouraged that some scoring is available on the way home.

It's where Scheffler heated up last night with an astonishing chip-in at the 14th to make three straight birdies.

A similar run would turn the screw on Clark.

  10. 'Exquisite'published at 21:44 BST 21 June

    Clark -4 (9)

    Andrew Murray

    Wow.

Brilliant speed through the grass, kept the loft on the face and it went towering high - higher than I thought possible.

An exquisite shot from Wyndham Clark.

  11. Great chippublished at 21:43 BST 21 June

    Clark -4, Scheffler E (9)

Wyndham Clark is back scrapping around missing fairways, missing greens, but his scrambling ability is insane. This time he almost goes and holes out from some testing fescue next to the ninth green.

On the one hand you think he won't let this US Open title go with a short game like this, but on the other you wonder how many time he can keep going to the well and digging himself out of trouble.

Scottie Scheffler agains leaves a birdie putt woefully short - yes it's a tough one sliding down the hill but you just have to give them a run when you're four shots back.

  12. Fleetwood bogeys 13thpublished at 21:41 BST 21 June

    Fleetwood +2, Schauffele +2 (13)

Definitely curtains for Tommy Fleetwood now - I'm calling it.

His approach found the bunker rather than the 13th green and he's paid the penalty.

Classless fans. It can't be much fun playing in front of folk shouting: "Get in the bunker!" after you've hit your shot.

  14. Burns saves parpublished at 21:35 BST 21 June

Sam Burns tugs his drive into the thick stuff at 12.

He tries to chase one up the front of the green but it just runs out of steam. It doesn't look like the toughest up and down, but this is Sunday at the US Open. There's no such thing as 'easy'.

He decides to take the putter and it's a good call because he rolls it up next to the hole and makes a good four after missing the fairway.

Keith Mitchell finds the heart of the green in two and his 30-footer is tracking...but it just drifts to the right.

These greens are starting to look brown now. This is only going to get tougher for the last few groups.

  15. Poston saves parpublished at 21:34 BST 21 June

    Poston -1 (16)

Nicely played by JT Poston after dumping his third shot into the greenside bunker at the par-five 16th.

He's safely out, swirled to five feet and then saved for par.

I was thinking about how Wyndham Clark will have to handle this psychologically.

The holes look smaller, the fairways look narrower and you've just got to try and shake all those really big negatives off.

There was always a fella on my left shoulder giving me those negative vibes and I tried to brush him off with my right hand. It's easier said than done.

I feel for him in some ways because he's going through the wringer here.

  18. Hit it Scottie!published at 21:30 BST 21 June

    Clark -4, Scheffler E (8)

Hit it Scottie Scheffler! A rolling birdie putt on eight has every chance if he's hit it, but he hasn't! You can't be leaving birdie putts short today Scottie...

Wyndham Clark mops up for par pretty comfortably - happily so after some of those unfortunate comments from the crowd on this hole.

  19. Some jeers for Clarkpublished at 21:29 BST 21 June

    Clark -4, Scheffler E (7)

Just heard a few "get in the bunker" shouts from the crowd at Shinnecock Hills and Wyndham Clark hits an approach onto the eighth green.

Not the sort of thing you like to hear - cheer on Scottie Scheffler or your own favourite if you want but don't jeer the US Open leader.

  20. Disappointing finish for McIlroypublished at 21:28 BST 21 June

    McIlroy +6 (73)

Rory McIlroy finishes his tournament with a three-over 73.

Disappointing weekend for the world number two. He was two under and chasing the lead at the turn yesterday, but covered his final 27 holes in eight over. Two 73s over the weekend.

He isn't playing the Travelers Championship next week but there'll probably be a few long practice sessions at home to address some of the loose play we've seen at Shinnecock.
