  1. Bogeys for Young and McIlroypublished at 20:54 BST 12 April

    Young -11, McIlroy -9 (6)

An absolutely superb lag from 71 feet by Cameron Young, but he's low with his par putt from four feet!

A first slip-up and he leads by one from Russell Henley and Justin Rose.

Rory McIlroy takes the putter from behind the green and it barely makes it on to the surface. That was a surprising choice of shot.

Another pressure-packed par putt and it's another miss. McIlroy falls further back and he's really up against it now.

  2. Postpublished at 20:52 BST 12 April

    Fitzpatrick -5 (14)

Matt Fitzpatrick looks perplexed over on the 15th after overcooking his second shot and sending it right through the green.

The Englishman was expecting it to land softly instead his ball skipped on like a Pat Cummins bouncer at the MCG.

  3. Lip-out!published at 20:51 BST 12 April

    Scheffler -9, Li -6 (8)

Another wayward drive by Scottie Scheffler means he has to bunt it out of the trees then attack the par-five eighth green, just missing on the short side.

So the putter is required from just off the edge and it's a beauty, tracking all the way, but comes in just a bit too hot and hits the lip and turns away.

Just a par for thre world number one.

  4. Postpublished at 20:46 BST 12 April

    Young -12, McIlroy -10 (5)

The wind wasn't a factor yesterday but it is today. Cameron Young doesn't quite master the breeze at the downhill par-three sixth. His ball lands left of the pin, takes a firm bounce and trundles all the way down to the front left of the green.

Rory McIlroy grimaces as he sends one into the skies. He airmails the green and leaves himself a nightmarish chip. Struggling again.

  5. Masters Highlights: Chip-in for Rosepublished at 20:46 BST 12 April

    Rose -10 (7)

    Day -7, Rose -10 (7)

What a recovery shot that is. Justin Rose take a bow.

The Englishman is in all sorts of bother behind a tree down the right of the seventh fairway but manufactures a superb iron shot that cuts under the branches ahead and finds the heart of the green.

His ball then dances down to the cup to give him a tap-in birdie. Remarkable.

  7. Super recovery from Schefflerpublished at 20:42 BST 12 April

    Scheffler -9, Li -5 (7)

Scottie Scheffler is swinging for the fences off the tee, but he's almost clearing the fences down the left as the driver radar is way off target.

He somehow manages to find a gap through these huge Georgia Pines down the left to send his ball wide of the seventh green, and produces a fine up and down from there for par.

There's another Scheffler fist pump and it's well earned after that effort.

Li Haotong has played his way out of the tournament with three bogeys in a row dropping him to five under.

  8. Young drains gutsy par puttpublished at 20:40 BST 12 April

    Young -12, McIlroy -10 (5)

Cameron Young finds the fairway at five but blocks his second and comes up shockingly short with the chip.

Another test of the leader's mettle from 11 feet and it sneaks in the right side. It's all going according to plan for the American.

Rory McIlroy responds to that double bogey with a well-played hole and a stress-free par.

  9. Another birdie for Henleypublished at 20:38 BST 12 April

    Cantlay -6, Henley -10 (8)

Russell Henley will not go away.

His best result in a major was a tie for fourth at the Masters in 2023 and he sets up another birdie with a lovely chip into five feet on the par-five eighth.

The 37-year-old is four under today and right in the mix.

  10. Double bogey for Lowrypublished at 20:35 BST 12 April

    Burns -8, Lowry -6 (5)

Oh dear! Shane Lowry nudges a long putt up inside a very makeable distance for a bogey, after that bunker trouble back on the fairway, but he can't convert so that's a three-putt as well as a bunker lip hit that costs him a double bogey.

He finds himself six behind now after giving away three shots in two holes.

  11. 'McIlroy's putter is stone cold'published at 20:31 BST 12 April

    McIlroy -10 (4)

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live

McIlroy’s putter is stone cold today. He’s had birdie chances at the first and the second, he took the one on the third.

Now he’s three-putted from short range and you can’t rely on your putter for 72 holes can you?

  12. Postpublished at 20:29 BST 12 April

    Young -12, McIlroy -10 (4)

A brainfade at the 11th yesterday cost Rory McIlroy a double bogey.

He followed that with another dropped shot at 12 before clawing his way back and he needs a big response now after that three-jab from four feet.

The good news is there's plenty of golf still to play and he knows the ebbs and flows of Masters Sunday better than anyone.

  13. Missed chance for Rosepublished at 20:29 BST 12 April

    Day -7, Rose -9 (6)

Almost back-to-back bidies for Justin Rose but he's tugged that putt right from inside 15 feet on the sixth.

The Englishman has left a few putts out there this week and badly needs that to change over the remaining holes.

  14. 'McIlroy will be devastated'published at 20:27 BST 12 April

    McIlroy -10 (4)

    Trish Johnson
Former Europe Solheim Cup player on BBC Radio 5 Live

Didn’t he pick a moment there. Every shot he played was poorly played, Dreadful tee shot. Ok chip but left himself a tricky little putt, and then the three putt.

You can’t three-putt from four feet. He’ll be absolutely devastated.

You never know, shackles may be off now and just go for it.

  15. Another lip for Lowry!published at 20:25 BST 12 April

    Burns -8, Lowry -8 (4)

It's not a lip-out this time but a big fat lip of the fairway bunker on five that's stunned Shane Lowry, as he tries to execute one of the toughest shots in golf with a long iron out of a deep bunker.

He fires it hard into the lip and the ball bounces back out and behind the trees. He plays a beauty next up to get it onto the green but this is not the hole to make that mistake.

The fifth is the hardest hole on the course today so far.

  16. McIlroy doubles fourpublished at 20:25 BST 12 April

    Young -12, McIlroy -10 (4)

The par-three fourth is a beefy 251 yards down the hill and McIlroy hates his long-iron effort, turning away as it hooks left of the bunker.

Ohhh he almost holes it from there! He pitches it in the perfect spot and it just shaves the left edge of the hole on its way past.

But oh my word! He misses on the left and then lips out on the left with the one coming back. A disastrous three-putt from nowhere and it's a hammer blow of a double bogey.

Young came up well short but pitches up the green to five feet and makes the putt. Big. Two-shot lead.

  17. Welcome birdie for Rosepublished at 20:23 BST 12 April

    Day -7, Rose -9 (5)

A fist-pumping moment up on the fifth green for Justin Rose. The Englishman has looked slightly out of sorts so far but drains a swinging right-to-left putt from 28 feet.

That's only the second birdie at the fifth today and Rose is back in business at nine under.

Jason Day, who is rocking an all-yellow ensemble coughs up a shot after failing to find the putting surface with his second.

  18. Scheffler saves parpublished at 20:19 BST 12 April

    Scheffler -9, Li -6 (6)

Scottie Scheffler busts out the fist pump as he drains a great par saver on six to remain at nine under. He knows as he's chasing the leaders that he can't afford too many bogeys.

That was a big one for momentum.

  19. Henley up into tie for thirdpublished at 20:18 BST 12 April

    Cantlay -6, Henley -9 (6)

    Russell HenleyImage source, Getty Images

Russell Henley continues to creep up the leaderboard and climbs into a tie for third with birdie number three of the round.

The American Ryder Cup star sets it up with a spiralling wedge shot that finds the back of the green and then spins and drifts down the slop to within a foot of the pin.

  20. Lip-out for Lowrypublished at 20:17 BST 12 April

    Burns -8, Lowry -8 (4)

Shane Lowry slips back a shot on the par-three fourth despite hitting the green with his tee shot, his lag putt from distance wasn't too bad at all but his par saver was just too hard on the line he picked so it caught a big chunk of the left edge and turned away.
