  2. Birdie for Cantlaypublished at 19:31 BST 12 April

    Cantlay -7, Henley -7 (3)

Patrick Cantlay has a rapid 17-foot birdie putt on the third down the slope. The American gives it the faintest of touches but this is shifting.

But it traverses right into the heart of the cup.

  3. Birdies sees Burns join leaderspublished at 19:31 BST 12 April

    Burns -11, Lowry -8 (1)

Sam Burns starts off with an impressive birdie to join the leading duo on 11 under - you get the sense from both Burns and Cameron Young that neither will back down from the fight this afternoon.

Shane Lowry makes exactly the opposite start from his playing partner though as he misses a par putt to open up with a five - horible start for the Irishman.

  4. 'McIlroy will be delighted'published at 19:28 BST 12 April

    McIlroy -11

    Trish Johnson
Former Europe Solheim Cup player on BBC Radio 5 Live

That’s a massive confidence booster isn’t it off the first tee for McIlroy.

Great to see, never really going anywhere but the right-hand side of that fairway, and he will be absolutely delighted with that.

  5. Final pairing under waypublished at 19:27 BST 12 April

    McIlroy -11, Young -11

"Fore please! Now driving, Rory McIlroy!"

Right Rory. What do you have for us today?

It's a three-wood off the first tee. A tad right but finds the short stuff.

Cameron Young, who is a sensational -15 for his last 29 holes, also goes with a three-wood but finds the bunker. Nervy opening swing.

  6. Form Guide: Masters contenderspublished at 19:26 BST 12 April

So how are the top Masters contenders playing?

We've got a form graph for you with their strokes gained rankings in the four key areas - which sees Cameron Young as the best driver in the field, Shane Lowry the leading iron player and Rory McIlroy topping the charts around the greens after three rounds.

Sam Burns has been a solid all-rounder, but needs a bit of work in his chipping and scrambling. Here's an interesting look at the strengths and weaknesses of our top four.

  7. The final pairing...published at 19:25 BST 12 April

    Young -11, McIlroy -11 (19:25 BST)

    The Masters

This is actually the first time since 2001 that two of the top three ranked players in the world will be duking it out in the final pairing of the Masters.

Back then it was Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, although Lefty actually ended up in third in the final reckoning, behind Woods and David Duval.

  8. Young primed for comeback?published at 19:24 BST 12 April

    Young -11 (19:25 BST)

Joint leader Cameron Young was eight strokes behind Rory McIlroy entering Saturday’s third round.

He is the first player in Masters history to overcome a 36-hole deficit of eight or more strokes to have at least a share of the lead after three rounds.

The previous largest leap to the top of the 54-hole leaderboard was made by Jeff Maggert in 2003. He trailed second-round leader Mike Weir by seven strokes before taking the 54-hole lead.

  9. McIlroy's leader statspublished at 19:23 BST 12 April

    McIlroy -11 (19:25 BST)

This is the eighth time that Rory McIlroy has started the fourth round of a major championship as either the leader or joint leader.

He went on to win on five of the seven previous occasions, including 12 months ago at Augusta National.

The Northern Irishman has led or shared the lead after each round this week, which is quite a rare scenario as only three players have previously gone wire-to-wire at the Masters over the last 45 years.

They are Trevor Immelman (2008), Jordan Spieth (2015) and Dustin Johnson (2020).

Cameron Young shot 40 (four over) over his first nine holes of the Tournament on Thursday.

Only one player in Masters history shot 40 or higher over the first nine holes in the first round and went on to win and that was Tiger Woods in 1997.

The world number three was in a tie for 33rd after the first round and how's this for an omen.

Woods sat in the same position after round one in 2005, the worst opening-round position of any player who went on to win the Masters.

Some usual suspects in here and some friendly targets - should be fun down that second nine.

  12. Rose chips in for birdie on opening holepublished at 19:19 BST 12 April

    Day -8, Rose -9 (1)

An early mistake from Justin Rose, who misses the opening green to the right.

The Englishman does not have a huge landing area but delivers the best possible remedy, with a chip-in birdie to move to nine under.

  13. Masters Highlights: McIlroy's costly doublepublished at 19:18 BST 12 April

    McIlroy -11 (19:25 BST)

Rory McIlroy had done a great job of getting around Augusta National even when struggling to hit fairways.

He'd been limiting the mistakes but he made a stinker on the 11th yesterday when finding the water biting off more than he can chew and that cost him two shots.

How crucial could they be come this evening?

  14. Eagle for Hattonpublished at 19:17 BST 12 April

    Hatton -6 (7)

Tyrrell Hatton has his arms raised aloft down the middle of the seventh fairway after making eagle.

The Englishman plays a lovely wedge into the heart of the green and his ball then spins back and the gradient takes it on a beeline for the cup where it disappears.

He is not the first player to do that there today, or even the first English player, with Aaron Rai doing exactly the same a little earlier, on his way to a two-under 70.

  15. A winner from final duo?published at 19:16 BST 12 April

    Young -11, McIlroy -11 (19:25 BST)

McIlroy & YoungImage source, Getty Images

It's a wonderful final pairing of Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young at the Masters but will the winner come from it?

History says yes, with each of the previous nine Masters champions having come from the last match on the course.

However, with a stellar cast assembled behind them all ready to swoop on the slightest error it is far from a given.

Sam Burns, Shane Lowry, Jason Day, Justin Rose and world number one Scottie Scheffler are all in contention and there are enough low scores out on the course to suggest the chasers will get under way with plenty of encouragement.

  16. Birdie start for Schefflerpublished at 19:15 BST 12 April

    Scheffler -8, Li -6 (1)

Great start for Scottie Scheffler as he recovers from being wide among the trees to play that spectacular approach and then roll in the birdie putt on the opening hole.

Scheffler shot 65 yesterday and if he gets something similar going today then he could be a big threat as he chases a third Green Jacket.

Li Haotong was stood on the left of the fairway after his tee shot, but somehow managed to make bogey from there.

  17. Another Players-Masters double?published at 19:13 BST 12 April

    Young -11 (19:25 BST)

    Masters and Players Championship winners

Cameron Young is attempting to become the fourth player to win the Masters and the Players Championship in the same season, joining Tiger Woods (2001), Scottie Scheffler (2024) and Rory McIlroy (2025) in achieving the feat.

  18. Postpublished at 19:10 BST 12 April

    Day -8, Rose -8 (19:03 BST)

England's Justin Rose gets under way with a lovely drive up the first. The 45-year-old has been a runner-up on three occasions at the Masters, most recently 12 months ago when he lost out to Rory McIlroy in a play-off.

"People have been pulling for me this week," he said on Saturday.

"That's a double-edged sword. If you get going with that momentum, it can really, really help. If your game is not quite living up to their hopes for you, it can kind of feel frustrating at times."

  19. Lowry makes Masters historypublished at 19:07 BST 12 April

    Lowry -9 (19:14 BST)

This one is for all of those pulling for Shane Lowry this evening, after he made history yesterday by becoming the first player to have two holes-in-one at The Masters.

Lowry also made an ace at the 16th a decade ago.

His hole-in-one was the 35th ace in Masters history and the first since 2022 (Stewart Cink at the 16th).

But a word of warning. No player has ever won the Masters after making an ace during the tournament.

  20. Postpublished at 19:03 BST 12 April

    Cantlay -6, Henley -7 (1)

Great start for Russell Henley as he zips into nine feet at the opening hole and then sinks his birdie putt.

His American compatriot Patrick Cantlay faces an early salvage operation when he misses the dance floor but a glorious chip to two feet does the job.
