    Peter Morse
Crewe summariser on BBC Radio Stoke

There has been some good football from Crewe in the early stages, there are some encouraging signs, and Crewe have played a few good balls.

MK Dons have had a few chances they would need to be careful of.

    Reading v Cardiff (15:00 BST)

    Dafydd Pritchard

Cardiff sold out their allocation - about 3,000 tickets - at Reading weeks ago, and their fans are making a great noise before kick-off.

It's a patchy crowd in the home ends here. Cardiff could have filled this on their own.

    Cheltenham v Newport (15:00 BST)

    Laura Kenyon
BBC Final Score reporter at Whaddon Road

One thing is for certain, it will be a noisy away end at Whaddon Road today. One thousand travelling fans will roar on relegation-threatened Newport County. A pivotal win last weekend against relegation rivals Harrogate at Rodney Parade. Another today would be a big, big step towards securing another season in the football league. They line up today without the man who got the winner against Harrogate - Joe Thomas. A stunning goal it was too. How much will he be missed?

  16. Cardiff hoping for promotion party at Readingpublished at 14:57 BST 18 April

    Reading v Cardiff (15:00 BST)

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at the Select Car Lease Stadium

Reading could host a second promotion party of the season when they host Cardiff City today.

The Bluebirds, who are second in League One, will secure an immediate return to the Championship if they better fifth-place Stockport County’s result at Exeter City.

And if they’re successful, Cardiff will emulate leaders Lincoln City in sealing promotion in Berkshire.

The Imps won 2-1 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Easter Monday to ensure they will be playing in the second tier for the first time in 65 years next season.

Securing promotion will not be quite as significant an achievement for Cardiff, who were in the Premier League only seven years ago, and are now in the third tier for the first time in more than two decades.

But that won’t matter to the Bluebirds fans at Reading today. If they win, it will be party time for the 2,800 or so in the sold-out away end.

  17. Will MK take one step closer to League One?published at 14:53 BST 18 April

Crewe v MK Dons (15:00 BST)

MK Dons cannot seal automatic promotion this afternoon but they could take a major step towards doing so.

Equally, Paul Warne's side could be reeled right back in by the chasing pack, underlining just how crucial this trip to Crewe is after ending a four-game winless run (D2 L2) with a 2-1 win over leaders Bromley last time out.

If MK win, Notts County lose and both Swindon and Salford fail to pick up three points, it will be all but done.

That is a lot of chips required to fall in the right place but stranger things have happened.

Crewe's faint play-off hopes got that bit slimmer last weekend with a 3-2 defeat at Grimsby to leave them six points behind in 10th with just three to play. Nothing other than a win would give the Alex any chance of making the top seven.

  18. Automatic promotion in reach for Magpiespublished at 14:51 BST 18 April

Notts County v Barnet (15:00 BST)

Notts County host Barnet and will be licking their lips at the prospect of leapfrogging Cambridge United into third place and the final automatic promotion spot.

They are just two points off third place despite their 4-0 thumping by the U’s last weekend and boss Martin Paterson will be aiming to return to winning ways knowing Swindon and Salford are hot on their tail, only two points behind.

Barnet have their own aspirations today as they eye that final play-off spot currently occupied by Chesterfield – a win could cut the gap to just two points depending on the Spireites' result at Fleetwood at 15:00 BST.

The Bees were victorious against Barrow in a 3-2 win last weekend.

The previous meeting between the two sides ended with the Magpies snatching a 1-0 win.

Here's how our lunchtime games have left things in League Two.

Swindon's draw with Accrington means they're three points behind Cambridge United in the race for automatic promotion.

Notts County can leapfrog the U's with a win over Barnet later on.

Following Barrow's 3-1 defeat to Walsall, Tranmere, Newport County and Crawley Town all have a chance to pull away from the drop.

Harrogate could be relegated if they fail to win and other results go against them.

Can Stevenage get their league form back on track after a 5-1 thumping at play-off rivals Bolton last time out ended a four-game unbeaten streak?

Alex Revell's side, who are just in the play-off spots in sixth with a three-point cushion, go to league leaders and already promoted Lincoln, who are looking to stretch their unbeaten run in League One to a remarkable 26 matches.

Seventh-place Luton are the side aiming to close that three-point gap on Stevenage when they go to Mansfield. Jack Wilshere's side are unbeaten in seven and could make it four wins on the bounce as they target a play-off position.

At the other end of the table - Peterborough in 16th, Leyton Orient in 17th, Burton in 18th, and Blackpool in 19th are all on 51 points and just four from safety. So, Leyton Orient, who host already relegated Rotherham, and Blackpool, who travel to Wycombe, will be looking to steal a march on Posh and the Brewers who face off against each other tomorrow.
