  1. Wanderers hoping to seal play-off spotpublished at 12:24 BST 18 April

This is not a bad game to get the juices flowing on what promises to be a pivotal weekend in League One.

Bolton’s faint hopes of automatic promotion are just that, considering it would require a remarkable scenario in which they win their remaining three games and Cardiff lose all of theirs, while it would also need a 15-goal swing on goal difference.

But something that is perhaps more realistic is that the Trotters can take a huge leap towards sealing a play-off place with a win - and it would be confirmed later today if that happens and Luton fail to beat Mansfield.

Steven Schumacher's side thumped Stevenage 5-1 last time out, although it was just their second win in seven games (D3 L2).

Meanwhile, victory feels essential for Huddersfield if they are to stay in the race for a play-off place, but they need to improve on a run of one win in seven (D5 L1) to avoid a repeat of last season in which they ended the campaign poorly to slip out of the top six.

Outgoing Barnsley boss Conor Hourihane names the same side that drew 0-0 at Port Vale in midweek.

Nathanael Ogbeta, who is on loan from Plymouth, misses out but Mael de Gevigney returns to the side and is named on the bench.

Bradford make three changes to the side that lost 1-0 to Stevenage last Saturday.

Kayden Jackson starts as Bobby Pointon misses out. Will Swan returns and gets the nod to start as Antoni Sarcevic drops to the bench.

And at the back Matt Pennington starts on the right with Joe Wright named among the substitutes alongside Harrison Ashby.

  3. Bantams looking to strengthen play-off positionpublished at 12:20 BST 18 April

Nothing like a good old Yorkshire derby nice and early to set us on our way, eh?!

Mid-table Barnsley will be looking to stretch their unbeaten run to three games today, but will need to improve if they want to have a strong finish to the season after a stalemate at lowly Port Vale in their last outing.

The Tykes will also be looking to polish up on their home form having won just one of their past six games on home soil - and try to do so fresh in the knowledge that boss Conor Hourihane is leaving at the end of the season.

Bradford could cement their play-off place today with a win and hope Luton taste defeat at Mansfield.

But with four games remaining, Graham Alexander's side will still be looking to get their form back on track after a setback last time out when they suffered a 1-0 home defeat against play-off rivals Stevenage.

The Bantams have a seven-point cushion in the play-off places as they look to strengthen their grip on the top six, but their record at Oakwell is not great having not won there in their past six league visits.

Bolton and Bradford will hope to put a little bit of pressure on Cardiff in the race for automatic promotion in our early kick-offs in League One, even if the top two is almost out of reach.

The Bluebirds can go up if they beat Reading later today and Stockport fail to win at Exeter. A draw would be enough for Brian Barry-Murphy’s side if Bradford fail to win and Stockport lose.

Victory for Bolton will secure a play-off spot if Luton fail to win at Mansfield, while the Bantams need to pick up three points at Barnsley and hope Luton lose to confirm a top-six place.

Nothing less than a win will really do for Huddersfield at the Toughsheet Community Stadium if they want to stay in touch with the play-off places.

Four changes from Swindon boss Ian Holloway to the side that lost to Colchester last weekend with captain Ollie Clarke and last weekend's substitute Filozofe Abate returning to the side.

James Ball is suspended after his red card, while Thomas-Wilson Brown, Ollie Palmer come in.

Darren Oldaker and Joel Mcgregor drop to the bench.

As for Accrington, just the one change as Donald Love comes in, with Shaun Whalley captaining the side.

Charlie Brown drops to the bench.

  6. Play-offs beckon for Swindonpublished at 12:14 BST 18 April

    Swindon v Accrington (12:30 BST)

Swindon Town are not out of the automatic promotion race, sitting just four points off Cambridge United in fifth, following their 1-1 draw on Thursday against the league leaders Bromley.

Ian Holloway’s side will be desperate to set things right after their 3-0 loss to Colchester last time out, knowing a win would all but confirm a place in the play-offs - they previously went unbeaten in their past five games before the loss.

The Robins are still without Ryan Tafazolli, with the club confirming he suffered a fractured elbow in the victory against Walsall on Easter Monday.

Today’s opponents Accrington occupy 16th in League Two but have already confirmed their status for next season.

In the previous meeting between these two, it was Danny Cowley’s men who secured a thumping 4-0 victory.

  7. Top scorer Fletcher in; Saddlers make triple changepublished at 12:12 BST 18 April

    Barrow v Walsall (12:30 BST)

One change for Barrow as top goalscorer Isaac Fletcher comes into the side for Josh Gordon, who is ineligible for selection against his parent club.

Fletcher will be looking to add to his tally of seven goals this afternoon.

Walsall boss Darren Byfield makes three changes after their 4-0 thumping defeat to Cheltenham Town last weekend.

Connor Barrett and Harrison Burke drop to the bench, along with Aaron Loupalo-Bi.

Priestley Farquharson, Jid Okeke and Rico Browne make their way into the starting line-up.

  8. Crunch time for Barrowpublished at 12:10 BST 18 April

    Barrow v Walsall (12:30 BST)

In the race for survival, games don't come much bigger than this for Barrow.

Depending on results elsewhere, all three points could help the Bluebirds claw their way out of the drop zone, Newport, Tranmere and Crawley all sit just a point above them on 37.

A 91st-minute winner from Isaac Fletcher in the week gave Barrow a pivotal 3-2 victory last time out against play-off hopefuls Oldham Athletic.

Their opponents Walsall have had a tough time of late, failing to win any of their past four games in the league, suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat at home to Cheltenham last Saturday.

For Darren Byfield and his men, the dream of the play-offs is over.

The home side will be looking to do the double in this fixture, having beating the Saddlers 2-1 earlier in the season.

    League Two table

Could today be the day Bromley win promotion to League One - and without kicking a ball? If Notts County fail to beat Barnet at 15:00 BST, the Ravens will be into the third tier for the first time ever.

But before that, Barrow will be hoping to climb out of the relegation zone in their clash with mid-table Walsall.

A draw would be enough for the Bluebirds thanks to their superior goal difference to Newport, but victory would really pile pressure on the Welsh side, Crawley and Tranmere before they all play in a few hours.

And in our other early kick-off, Swindon will look to try and close the gap to the automatic promotion places to just a point against Accrington, knowing that victory would also put them within touching distance of guaranteeing themselves at least a play-off place.

  10. Hourihane to leave Barnsleypublished at 12:06 BST 18 April

Well, what a start to the day with the news that Barnsley head coach Conor Hourihane is to leave the club at the end of the season by mutual agreement.

"After honest conversations between the board and Conor, it was felt that the best course of action for both parties would be to pursue a fresh start ahead of preparations for the 2026-27 season," the club said.

"We are now looking to ensure a smooth transition between Conor and our new head coach through to the end of the current campaign."

Hourihane is a club legend at Oakwell, having scored 31 goals in 135 appearances in his first spell at the club and captained them to an EFL Trophy and League One promotion double in 2016.

    Good afternoon, everyone.

As matchdays go in League One and League Two, they might not come much bigger than this one.

In the third tier, Cardiff could seal promotion back to the Championship, Port Vale's relegation may be confirmed, and both Bolton and Bradford might guarantee themselves a play-off berth.

Meanwhile, in the fourth tier, Bromley could be promoted to League One for the first time in their history without playing today, and MK Dons have the chance to put themselves on the brink of going up.

And at the bottom, Harrogate might fall through the trap door and into the National League if results massively conspire against them.

Sound like enough to whet the appetite? Best crack on then, we've got a lot to get through...
