    A point apiece at the Riverside as second-placed Middlesbrough are held to a goalless draw with Morgan Whittaker's first-half shot against a post the closest to a goal.

    Full-time at the Bet365 Stadium and it ends goalless between Stoke and Preston.

    Not a lot of goalmouth action to tell you about in this one between two sides lacking a real cutting edge.

    Thierry Small went closest for the visitors but his effort was well blocked one on one by Stoke keeper Viktor Johansson.

    Stoke winger Sorba Thomas and Manchester City loanee Divin Mubama both went close for the Potters after the break but both sides will have to settle for a point each.

    Full-time and Watford heap more misery on Leicester and manager Marti Cifuentes with a rare away win!

    Boos ring around the King Power Stadium and Leicester, who were a goal up, end on the losing side again.

    Jordan James gave the home side an early lead when his deflected effort beat Egil Selvik.

    Imran Louza created the leveller for the Hornets when he skinned his man before playing in Othmane Mamma who bent in a beauty with the outside of his right foot.

    Watford played well throughout and grabbed their winner when Mattie Pollock powered home a header from a lovely Louza cross with Leicester keeper Jakub Stolarczyk grasping at thin air after coming out of his goal to meet it.

    Oxford United 2-1 Southampton

    Full-time and interim Oxford boss Craig Short picks up all three points in his first match in charge!

    Oxford started the match on the back foot but opened the scoring against the run of play when Tyler Goodrham's strike from 20 yards beat Gavin Bazunu.

    The visitors were level before the break, however, when Taylor Harwood-Bellis headed home a Leo Scienza free-kick.

    Oxford improved after half-time and after their keeper Jamie Cumming made a stunning save to keep Adam Armstrong out from close range, they stole all three points when Stanley Mills raced clear after a good one-two and fired a low shot across goal into the far corner for a vital three points.

    United claim their fifth win out of their last six matches on Boxing Day and climb out of the relegation zone on goal difference at the expense of Southampton's local rivals, Portsmouth.
