He's having a day out here, Bamford!

What a ball again from Seriki, it was crying out for someone to get the touch and Bamford was there with the finish to give Okonkwo no chance.

This is just one of those games.

    Wrexham 1 Patrick Bamford 2!!

The same combination does the same trick for Sheffield United.

Femi Seriki with a better cross this time from the right to the back post.

Murder for a defender and Bamford meets it first time on the half-volley and it's past Arthur Okonkwo before he can do anything.

Those two goals have only increased the pace of this encounter as Wrexham put their foot down.

Matty James has one effort blocked on the edge of the box and Kieffer Moore is squeezed out in another moment of danger.

You've got to feel for him that's his (Bindon's) first big misstep since arriving.

You just have to dust yourself down and go again.

We said it would be breathless, I didn't expect this.

    Tyler Bindon (own goal)

    That didn't last long!!!

Wrexham are level within a minute of the game restarting.

Makeshift left-wing-back George Thomason with a devilish cross to the back post, which Josh Windass helps back across and Tyler Bindon can do nothing but turn it past his own goalkeeper at close range.

    What a start!

    Sign him up!

What a finish that is, it seemed to take an age to go in but then it also seemed destined to go in.

You talk about the hole that the loss of Kieffer Moore left in the squad, he has more than filled it.

    What a start.

    That is a beautiful goal!!

    Patrick Bamford, ladies and gentlemen...

Femi Seriki with a deep cross, which Bamford comes towards about 12 yards from goal. What you are not expecting is for the striker to score with a volley with the outside of his left boot that floats beyond Arthur Okonkwo at the far post.

Great technique, great way for the Blades to begin this Boxing Day game.

Positive stuff from the home side in these early stages as one of the centre-backs, Callum Doyle, finds himself in shooting position.

His effort is decent, but low and straight at Michael Cooper.

  9. Reliving FA Cup memoriespublished at 2 mins

    Wrexham 0-0 Sheff Utd

This is the first meeting between these sides since two FA Cup ties in 2023 when Wrexham were still in the National League.

Those games produced 10 goals and plenty of needle with the Blades' upset by what they perceived to be the upstarts from non-league, which Sheffield United only won in injury time in the replay.

Something similar to that today, please!

Two alterations for Wrexham from their derby defeat to Swansea as Matty James and Nathan Broadhead come in for James McClean and George Dobson.

McClean of course, is suspended for an off-the-ball incident late on in that loss to the Swans, so George Thomason is expected to switch across to the left-wing-back role.

After a 3-0 win over Birmingham City six days ago, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder decides there is no need to change anything.

Patrick Bamford leads the line up front with the likes of Gustavo Hamer and Callum O'Hare floating in behind.

So for the first time since 1981, Wrexham play a second-tier league game on Boxing Day.

For a promoted side, being 15th at almost the halfway point of the season and six points away from danger, would be considered very solid especially after so long away.

But with the Dragons and their Hollywood backing, this is perhaps a slight sense of underachievement.

However, if you are talking about Championship underachievement in 2025-26, look no further than Sheffield United.

Last season's play-off finalists have lost 12 of their 22 games, have fallen out and back in love with boss Chris Wilder and are trying to recover from a disastrous start to the campaign.

Despite all that, the Blades will feel they can claw back the 10-point deficit to the play-off spots, starting with three points in North Wales.

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna spoke to BBC Radio Suffolk following his side's goalless draw at Millwall which keeps them third in the Championship table:

He said: "We're disappointed not to have won the game. Millwall had some momentum at the start of the game but, other than that, I think we controlled the large majority of it".

"Just couldn't find the goal today but, if you can't find the goal, make sure you get the clean sheet and we did that.

"We're not happy with the point - I don't think we ever are. We think we're improving over the course of the season."

Things are getting very interesting at the bottom of the Championship after crucial Boxing Day successes for Oxford and Norwich.

Managerless Oxford saw off Southampton, while the Canaries claimed a narrow but vital win over Charlton.

The U's are out of the bottom three and Norwich are back in the pack with Portsmouth dropping in after their home draw with QPR.

Blackburn claimed a good point at Middlesbrough, but Swansea slip a place after defeat to leaders Coventry.

West Brom had a poor loss at home to Bristol City, yet one of Wrexham or Sheffield United have the chance to put daylight between themselves and trouble.

Top 10 in the ChampionshipImage source, BBC Sport

As we seem to have said after most games in the Championship this season, it is another good day for Coventry.

Not their best against Swansea, the 1-0 win is all that counts as they move eight points clear at the top and 13 ahead of the play-off places.

That's because Middlesbrough, in second, and Ipswich, in third, were both held to goalless draws by Blackburn and Millwall respectively.

Stoke and Preston also failed to deliver a goal in their meeting at bet365 Stadium, while Hull were involved in a 2-2 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

With so many draws, Bristol City took advantage to jump into sixth with a win at West Brom while Watford are also on the move after their 2-1 success at troubled Leicester.

    FT: Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

    Neil Maddison
Former Middlesbrough midfielder on BBC Tees

I think, especially the second half, it got a bit scruffy at times. In the first half we created some really good opportunities and so did they, we didn't take them.

Second half it got scruffy, lacked quality in certain areas, I think both sides will be happy with a point, but that second half lacked any quality.

I thought we were the better side in the first half, but we lose a bit of composure around the penalty area.

Second half, you're thinking we're going to come out and pose a bit more of a threat, but that never materialised.

This place really is a fortress at the moment.

The important thing when you're on top is getting the job done, Swansea weren't just going to lie down.

Coventry had other chances, they could have been a bit more incisive in the final third, but they'll be delighted with the clean sheet and they got the job done well.

    Sheff Wed 2-2 Hull

Entertaining stuff at Hillsborough, certainly for the home fans considering the season they are having.

Twice ahead thanks to Svante Ingelsson and Bailey Cadamarteri, Hull pegged them back through goals from Mohamed Belloumi and Matt Crooks.

The Tigers miss the chance to go third, but that must be a sign of the progress they have made this season.
