Huddersfield Town have appointed former Sheffield United coach Alan Knill as their assistant head coach.

The 61-year-old left Bramall Lane earlier this summer after three spells with the club alongside Chris Wilder.

"Alan's understanding of the game at all levels and the ability to help develop players of all ages was of huge interest for me," boss Martin Drury told the club website., external

"His record speaks for itself but the aspects that most excite me are knowing the environments he's worked in and helped to create during his career."

Harry Souttar is a potential transfer target for West Ham United following Leicester City's relegation to League One. The Hammers' Championship rivals Wrexham, Sheffield United and the 27-year-old defender's former club Stoke City are also interested in the Australian international. (Daily Record), external

Brentford forward Romelle Donovan is set for a season-long loan spell at Sheffield United.

The 19-year-old is widely regarded as among the stars of the Bees academy having excelled in key Brentford B games and earned nine first-team appearances last season.

He is now expected to join a Blades team with Chris Wilder back in charge and as their first signing of the summer, despite other interest within the Championship and in Europe.

A number of players have left the Bramall Lane club, including Alex Matos joining Goztepe on loan and Andre Brooks moving to Norwich City, and Danny Ings and Jairo Riedewald being released.

Alongside that, defender Ben Mee has retired from football.

Donovan is an England Under-20 international who was signed by Brentford from Birmingham City in 2025 after an initial loan spell.

He also spent time on loan at Burton Albion while at Birmingham.

Bolton and Sheffield United have joined Portsmouth in the race to sign Plymouth Argyle striker Bim Pepple. The 23-year-old scored 18 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions for Argyle last season. (The News), external

Boston United have signed goalkeeper Luke Faxon on loan from Championship club Sheffield United until January.

The 21-year-old moves to the National League side to compete with Louis Chadwick for the number one shirt at the Jakemans Community Stadium.

Sheffield United midfielder Alex Matos has joined Turkish Super Lig side Goztepe on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old joined the Blades from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee last summer during Ruben Selles' brief spell in charge.

However, Matos made just eight appearances and none after 29 December.

Goztepe finished sixth in the Turkish top flight last season.

Sheffield United midfielder Tahith Chong's history-making World Cup has come to an end after Curacao were knocked out of the competition following a 2-0 loss to Ivory Coast on Thursday.

The 26-year-old played all 90 minutes of the game against the African nation but the defeat left Curacao bottom of Group E with one point - their first in a World Cup - in three games.

Middlesbrough winger Sontje Hansen was an unused substitute.

This year's event marked Curacao's debut in the competition.
