I'm not a Boro nor an Ipswich fan but to reply to Allan's comment (13:27), I'd prefer to be in Boro's position and have the points on the board rather than games in hand!

    Ali, Mancheser

To Allan, five points will mean a lot if Ipswich lose their next two games. All about points in the board not games in hand.

    Keith, New Brighton

Don’t write off Millwall yet, they were in this situation vs Ipswich too and got something in the end.

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Millwall

No changes from either manager at the break, so Kim Hellberg is looking for more of the same from his Boro players.

While Alex Neil is trusting the same XI to come up with a response after an opening period where they were totally dominated at the Riverside.

  3. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 min

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Millwall

We're under way again at the Riverside as Millwall look to mount a comeback.

Some interesting stats from our friends at Opta show just how dominant the hosts were in that first half.

Middlesbrough had 38 touches in Millwall's box in the first half, the second most touches in the opposition box by a team in the first 45 minutes of a Championship match Opta has on record since 2013-14.

Dael Fry's six shots in the first half were the most by a defender in the first 45 minutes of a Championship match since Sean Morrison had six for Cardiff against Bolton in February 2018.

For added context, Fry had only had six shots in his first 22 games this season.

A big response needed from the Lions, then.

Five points won't mean much if Ipswich win their next two games

Dael Fry's goal means Boro are currently five points clear of Ipswich in third and Millwall in fourth.

Can Millwall mount a response to keep themselves in contention for the automatic promotion spots?

  6. 'Boro dominated the game'published at 13:23 BST 3 April

    HT: Middlesbrough 1-0 Millwall

    Neil Maddison
Former Middlesbrough midfielder on BBC Radio Tees

Without a shadow of a doubt we're the best team on the pitch.

We've dominated the game, the set-pieces have been excellent, they've been a real threat.

Millwall understand they have to get three points, they've played their pressing game and it's certainly suited us, there's been some real good chances.

In the second half they have to come out and have a right go, I think Alex Neil will ask for a lot more from his players.

1-0 is never enough, that second goal will be so important.

Matt Targett floats a free-kick harmlessly into the arms of Millwall goalkeeper Anthony Patterson as time ticks down towards the half-time whistle.

    And that is it.

Boro the better side and well worth their one-goal lead, courtesy of a Dael Fry header.

The skipper had two other good chances as the hosts dominated the ball and territory.

Their only disappointment will be that they could have a healthier lead at the break.

  9. CHANCE!published at 43 min

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Millwall

    Another Boro corner.

This time it goes deep beyond the back post and over the sprawling reach of Anthony Patterson.

Who's on the end of it? Dael Fry, obviously. But the header is just wide.

Boro set Alan Browne away through the middle but Anthony Patterson sprints a long way out to get the ball away to safety.

    Good goalkeeping.

It's a beautiful training ground move from Boro.

What a block that is on the line from Femi Azeez, he just manages to get the ball away with his toe.

  12. CLOSE!published at 40 min

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Millwall

Femi Azeez with a huge block to prevent a second Middlesbrough goal for Dael Fry.

A neat corner routine comes to the Boro captain in the box and his first-time shot is creeping towards the bottom corner before Azeez makes the crucial intervention.

On another day, Fry could have had a hat-trick.

Boro are going to need to show up against a roaring team of Lions. Millwall will be fighting hard today to leapfrog Middlesbrough. They will probably slip up though!

  15. CLOSE!published at 35 min

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Millwall

David Strelec goes on a run and shoots from distance for the hosts, with his shot deflecting over the bar.

A second goal would make this much more comfortable for the Boro faithful.

As things stand, Middlesbrough open up their gap to five points over Ipswich and Millwall.

  16. 'Great block by Taylor'published at 13:02 BST 3 April

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Millwall

    Neil Maddison
Former Middlesbrough midfielder on BBC Radio Tees

It's a great block by Caleb Taylor because I think that's going towards goal.

We all know that second goal is vital, and it has to come because I can't see it staying 1-0.

  17. Postpublished at 31 min

    Middlesbrough 1-0 Millwall

    Almost two!

Caleb Taylor makes a big block to deny Aidan Morris a shot at goal before Morris fires over.

And then out of nowhere Mihailo Ivanovic at the other end shoots from distance and it takes a big deflection off Adilson Malanda and skims just wide of Sol Brynn's post.

Almost goals at both ends immediately after the opener.

It was an easy header for him to score.

We didn't squeeze out after winning the first header, there was a little bit of ball watching going on.

Middlesbrough have got their noses up, what sort of reaction are we going to get from the Millwall players?

GOAL: Middlesbrough 1-0 Millwallpublished at 12:56 BST 3 April

    Dael Fry (26 min)

Dael Fry heads in the opening goal for Middlesbrough against MillwallImage source, PA Media

    It has been coming!

And it's the local Boro boy Dael Fry who scores it.

The corner is headed away but the hosts keep the ball alive and, as Alan Browne whips in a perfect cross to the far post, Tristan Crama switches off and the stand-in skipper cannot miss!

Boro have a lead that is fully deserved.
