It has been an exercise in game management from minute one from Arsenal.

It's a case of slowing the game down, not giving a lot away and not making a mistake.

In general, it has been mission accomplished for nearly 30 minutes but right-back Ellie Carpenter is getting some joy against Katie McCabe.

Once again the rapid Ellie Carpenter is at the heart of Chelsea's attacks down the right flank, but her low, inviting ball through the six-yard area can't be converted by a team-mate.

Chelsea's Sjoeke Nusken slides in on Mariona Caldentey and there doesn't look to have been much contact on the ball.

But there's neither a corner nor a penalty given, with Caldentey looking puzzled at the official's decision.

Mariona Caldentey tries her luck from 20 yards out for the Gunners, but Kadeisha Buchanan is well placed in the middle of the penalty area and heads the ball away from danger.

There's a great atmosphere in Stamford Bridge. The away end sold out within 72 hours as 3,000 Arsenal fans have packed out the Shed End.

But the Blues have come out in numbers too with 16,000 tickets sold in total - the highest amount for a midweek match for Chelsea Women at the stadium.

Ellie Carpenter has an attempt for Chelsea from the corner of the penalty area, but Katie McCabe does well to get there and charges it down.

Thompson is very, very close. She takes it well, hits it hard and low, but she has to hit the target. She snatched at it a little bit, she needs more composure there. She probably had more time than she thought.

This is a really good, open game. A chance for Chelsea and Alyssa Thompson takes a touch to set herself but scuffs her 20-yard shot wide of the post. Close, but not close enough.

Arsenal's Caitlin Foord does well to cut inside from the left touchline and gets goal side of Ellie Carpenter, but the low angled shot doesn't have enough force to trouble the goal and Hannah Hampton makes another routine stop.

That is the outball every time for Chelsea. Whenever Cuthbert picks up the ball she's sending in it behind McCabe for Carpenter to chase. They will keep doing that now until Arsenal find a way to stop it.

Ellie Carpenter's pace is causing problems for Arsenal when she advances from right-back. She almost has a shooting chance, but Lotte Wubben-Moy, with no room for error, makes a perfect sliding tackle inside the penalty area.

At the other end, Katie McCabe fires at goal, but it zips over the bar.

Alessia Russo with a first half-chance for Arsenal but the shot from 20 yards doesn't have enough power or direction to test Hannah Hampton, who drops to one knee to gather the ball easily.

I wonder should Carpenter set it back to James? I want James to be in the box there and pulling the trigger. It is fantastic all around from Chelsea, from Carpenter and the shot from Nusken.
