A massive chance for Chelsea and it comes from a fine pass from Erin Cuthbert and an even better first touch from Ellie Carpenter creates the space for her to cross into the middle.

It ends up at the feet of Sjoeke Nusken and she looks to place her shot inside the post, but gets it just wrong and hits it wide when she should have hit the target.

Chelsea look like they mean business though.

Positive start from Chelsea. They are moving the ball fast and slick. Lots of rotations in position which is making it hard for Arsenal to pick up their movements.

Chelsea have a corner and it is played short to Keira Walsh and she hangs up a ball to the back post and Sam Kerr is there to nod it down into the danger area, but Arsenal are able to clear.

An early warning from the referee to away goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar that she is not going to put up with any time wasting tonight.

Chelsea’s only previous home game against an English opponent in the Women’s Champions League ended in a 3-0 win over Manchester City, after losing the first leg of their quarter-final tie with the Citizens last season 2-0 away from home.

Bayern are the first team with a semi-final ticket in hand.

Which one of these two will be joining them?

Away we go in the second leg. Is this going to be a superb Stamford Bridge night for the home fans? Can they recover from their two-goal deficit?

When Arsenal play Chelsea Blackstenius is very good at occupying the centre halves and really stretching them, which does open up a lovely pocket of space for Russo to get into. Russo does also push right up with her as well and they do switch at times so Russo is in the box.

Russo has just got better and better at her movement,technique and clinical edge, which we saw again at the weekend with her hat-trick against Spurs.

At the moment, this tie is in Arsenal's hands. Chelsea need to come out of the blocks, score early and really put them under pressure.

Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Erin Cuthbert speaking to BBC Two: "As a player you just want the second leg to be the next day. Of course we were disappointed, a few decisions went against us and we didn't play our best in the second half, but we stayed alive in the tie.

"We've still got a big deficit to overturn but if there is a dressing room that can do it, then it's that one in there."

The biggest issue I have noticed for Chelsea in recent weeks is the distances in the back line. Being that expansive leaves so much space in between them and the midfield. And it's so easy to capitalise on. It is becoming a big problem.

Arsenal

Arsenal forward Olivia Smith speaking to BBC Two: "This is only half time and we know what we need to do to make it to the semi-final - work hard and put a lot of effort in. Renee has instilled a lot of confidence in us that we can win.

"Yes you can't [write Chelsea off]. It is a big rivalry and something that I know both teams look forward to, I know I do. We need to keep it controlled in the middle, we are looking at it as a 0-0."

Manchester United

Manchester United captain Maya Le Tissier speaking to Disney+: "I'm fuming to be fair. Two set pieces, it seems like every single game we have been knocked out on set pieces. Same as the FA Cup. It's something we need to work on and it's frustrating.

"The performance we put in today, especially in the first half was something to build on and we can be proud. We gave ourselves a hard task after the first leg but we fully believed we could go and win the game. Everyone is just disappointed because we had the confidence to win."

On whether amount of games has had impact: "I don't want to use it as an excuse. Bayern upped their energy in the second half and we didn't quite match it. I don't know why. I don't think the amount of games is a thing. This is the Champions League and we gave our full energy to every game, especially the Champions League quarter-final.

"Everyone works their hardest. Deep down we can be proud of ourselves. It's our first one in the Champions League and it's been so special. We have created history. It's very disappointing but looking back we can hold our heads high."

Bayern just had the depth, the nous, and the gameplan, particularly in the second half. Manchester United rightly won the first half and should take a lot of positivity from that, but second half Bayern put their foot down and in the end deservedly won the tie outright.

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich captain Glodis Viggosdottir speaking to Disney+: "I'm feeling really good. To win this game and go through to the semis with this many people here at the Allianz [Arena], it's incredible. It's what you dream of as a little girl so I'm incredibly proud of the team.

"We bounced back and we showed what we are capable of. It's not always easy but we managed to turn it around."

Bayern Munich will most likely face Barcelona in the semi-finals.

Barca beat Real Madrid 6-2 in their quarter-final first leg, with the second leg at the Nou Camp tomorrow.
