    Notts County 0-0 Walsall

    Sanny Rudravajhala
BBC Radio 5 Live at Meadow Lane

We’re back under way and after a Walsall half of anti-football, I wonder if the league leaders will give us a little more in this next 45 minutes?

Both sides have made changes. The talismanic Jodi Jones is on for Notts County.

Jamille Matt’s work taking hits for Daniel Kanu is over for today. Aaron Pressley hasn’t scored since his double against Bristol Rovers in October.

But he’s back from a hamstring injury and now has a chance to take it to Notts County.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 13:49 GMT 20 December 2025

    Wigan 0-0 Blackpool

Josh Bowler and Tom Bloxham are heading off-field for Blackpool.

It makes room for a man Wigan are well-acquainted with as former Latics man Dale Taylor enters the fray for his new side.

  3. goal

GOAL: Stevenage 2-1 Burtonpublished at 13:48 GMT 20 December 2025

Jack Armer, own goal (60 mins)

    Game on its head...

The season of good will is being taken too literally by the Burton back-line.

Sub Harvey White is found by a lovely dink into the left of the area and White's angled strike across goal is pushed away by Brad Collins but only into the knee of backtracking Jack Armer who is helpless to prevent the ball bouncing into his own net.

Boro look to be heading for the top-two after all.

  4. Postpublished at 13:47 GMT 20 December 2025

    Stevenage 1-1 Buton

Almost another gift for Jamie Reid as Kgagelo Chauke misses his kick at the back presenting the Boro hitman with a run on goal from 25 yards out but the defender does brilliantly to chase back and get in a sliding block as Reid pulls the trigger.

  5. goal

GOAL: Bromley 2-0 Grimsbypublished at 13:47 GMT 20 December 2025

    Will Hondermarck (55 mins)

Great play from Marcus Ifill to slide the ball across the six yard area and Will Hondermarck is there again to bury his second of the game and third of the campaign.

Bromley have a grip of this now.

  6. Postpublished at 13:46 GMT 20 December 2025

    Wigan 0-0 Blackpool

A bit of positivity from Blackpool as they work their way forwards into a good position with Danny Imray cutting into the box but the pass from Josh Bowler is a poor one to see it roll out for a goal kick.

It remains very subdued in Wigan, though the crowd are as lively as ever. Over what? I guess just pure Christmas spirit.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 13:46 GMT 20 December 2025

    Notts County 0-0 Walsall

Mat Sadler makes two changes to his midfield with Jamie Jellis and Brandon Comley replacing Lewis Warrington and Ryan Finnegan.

  8. Postpublished at 13:43 GMT 20 December 2025

    Stevenage 1-1 Burton

Lively game once again as Burton go back in search of the lead, though Tyrese Shade's curling effort after a positive run flicks off a defender and is gathered by Filip Marschall at his near post.

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:43 GMT 20 December 2025

    Wigan 0-0 Blackpool

James Husband has been shown a yellow for dissent after he disagrees with the referee about a challenge made on Danny Imray.

Those cautions stacking up for the visitors. It's now their third since the match clock struck 42 minutes.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 13:36 GMT 20 December 2025

    Notts County 0-0 Walsall

Martin Paterson makes a change at the break with Jodi Jones replacing Keanan Bennetts – a change received well at Meadow Lane.

Mat Sadler matches him with a switch of his own, Aaron Pressley replaced Jamille Matt.

  11. goal

GOAL: Stevenage 1-1 Burtonpublished at 13:35 GMT 20 December 2025

    Jamie Reid (46 mins)

50 seconds into the second half, and the gifts keep on coming...

Burton's Dylan Williams has his head in his hands as his backpass is intercepted by Jamie Reid on the edge of the Brewers box and Reid keeps his cool to slot past Brad Collins to level the scores.

That's eight league goals for Reid and the home fans are now rocking... 'we're on our way to the Championship' they sing..

Well, perhaps a touch premature, but one more goal would take them into the top-two this afternoon.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 13:34 GMT 20 December 2025

    Stevenage 0-1 Burton

Ryan Doherty has been withdrawn by Alex Revell at the break, with former Tottenham youngster Harvey White sent on to add some attacking impetus to the hosts' midfield.

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 13:34 GMT 20 December 2025

It might feel a bit like The Grinch who stole Christmas goals at present but there's plenty of time for that to change.

The fans at the Lamex were treated to Kelly Clarkson's up-tempo festive hit Underneath The Tree played over the PA TWICE during the break.

That should distract them from what they saw in the first 45 minutes, at least...

We're back under way around the grounds.

  16. 'Mat Sadler happier of the two managers'published at 13:26 GMT 20 December 2025

    HT: Notts County 0-0 Walsall

    Tom Heslop
Member of Walsall media team on BBC WM

It is a bit of a chess match, both going up against each other.

Saddlers go in level at the break.

Mat Sadler will probably be the happier of the two managers to go in level.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:23 GMT 20 December 2025

    Notts County 0-0 Walsall

The hosts have had 75 per cent of the possession but they have nowt to show for it and, in truth, Walsall went closest to getting the goals going.

Daniel Kanu has been a livewire and it was his shot on 14 minutes that went closest to troubling the scoreboard, Kelle Roose getting down low to his left to save.

Mat Sadler will not be happy with the overall performance but he will take being goalless slate at the break.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:21 GMT 20 December 2025

    Wigan 0-0 Blackpool

    All even at a break.

Wigan missed the biggest opportunity of the game when Will Aimson's point-blank header flew high of the net from a corner, while Fraser Murray's free-kick from a good position missed his teammates.

The Latics were threatening at the final stages of this half but what's the point of a threat when it's got no follow through.

Can they deliver that missing final third quality in the next 45 minutes or are we bound for an uneventful early afternoon at the Brick Community Stadium?

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:20 GMT 20 December 2025

    Bromley 1-0 Grimsby

Three minutes added at the end of a first half is brought to a conclusion.

Grimsby will count themselves unfortunate not to be level at the break given the amount of pressure they have put their hosts under.

As it is Will Hondermarck's goal separates the two as they go in for a slice of orange and a biscuit.

  20. Postpublished at 13:18 GMT 20 December 2025

    Wigan 0-0 Blackpool

Fraser Murray delivers a free-kick that offers a good opportunity for the Latics but loops up above everyone to see it go to waste.

Story of the half, really. No teeth in attack on display at all.
