A perfect start in the sun for Reading!

Kamari Doyle does well to hook a bobbling ball into the box on the half-volley and Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan gets across his marker to glance a fine header past Sam Tickle in the Wigan goal.

And just like that, the Royals are up into a play-off spot as things stand.

    Salford 0-0 MK Dons

Early glimpse of goal for the Ammies as Ryan Graydon picks the ball up just outside the box, cuts back onto his right and fires in a shot which flicks off a defender and flies over Craig MacGillivray's crossbar.

  3. 'Promising, but unconvincing'published at 15:08 GMT 28 March

    Barrow 0-0 Bromley

Former Barrow first team coach on BBC Radio Cumbria

It's all so promising but you question, can we put them under pressure?

We put them under pressure there, but it still wasn't so convincing.

You've got to take confidence from the first few minutes, they're good at picking up second balls and not allowing Bromley to have wave after wave.

  4. Postpublished at 15:07 GMT 28 March

    Stockport 1-0 AFC Wimbledon

Stockport are unbeaten in their past seven home games (W6 D1), while Wimbledon have won just two of their past 12 away games (D4 L6).

Not the ideal start here for the Wombles, then.

  5. 'Good start'published at 15:06 GMT 28 March

    Barrow 0-0 Bromley

    Craig Rutherford
Former Barrow first team coach on BBC Radio Cumbria

It's good, just put it into an area where Bromley can face their own goal.

We know Danny Rose can run onto it and maybe make something of it.

  6. Postpublished at 15:05 GMT 28 March

    Barrow 0-0 Bromley

Bright start from the leaders who have won a couple of early corners, while Marcus Dinanga has seen a shot blocked by Niall Canavan.

  7. CLOSE!published at 15:05 GMT 28 March

    Stockport 1-0 AFC Wimbledon

Almost an immediate reply inside four minutes!

Omar Bugiel meets a cross from the left for Wimbledon but nods just wide of the far post.

No time to catch your breath at Edgeley Park this afternoon.

GOAL: Stockport 1-0 AFC Wimbledonpublished at 15:03 GMT 28 March

    Adama Sidibeh (2 mins)

What a start for Stockport! With just 75 seconds on the clock...

Adama Sidibeh is into the line-up in place of top goalscorer Kyle Wootton today and he's immediately repaid Dave Challinor's faith.

Ben Osborn drives down the left for County and fires in a low cross and Sidibeh is there to smash home from close range into the roof of the net.

  9. Postpublished at 15:02 GMT 28 March

    Reading 0-0 Wigan

Almost an early chance for Wigan as Joe Taylor nods it down and looks to race in behind but Ryan Nyambe showcases his pace to get back and put it out for a throw.

  10. Postpublished at 15:02 GMT 28 March

    Stockport 0-0 AFC Wimbledon

Dave Challinor has made four changes from the Stockport side that drew 1-1 at Luton last time out.

The biggest omission is top goalscorer Kyle Wootton, who drops to the bench along with Odin Bailey and Tayo Edun. Brad Hills is not in the squad.

Captain Lewis Bate starts for just the third time this season. Joseph Olowu, Josh Stokes and Adama Sidibeh also come in.

Three changes for AFC Wimbledon from their draw with Peterborough as Jake Reeves, Omar Bugiel and Zack Nelson replace Myles Hippolyte, Matty Stevens and Marcus Brown, who all miss out entirely with injury.

  11. Postpublished at 15:01 GMT 28 March

    Reading 0-0 Wigan

Two changes for Reading this afternoon from their 1-0 defeat at Stevenage as Liam Fraser and Daniel Kyerewaa come in. Will Keane drops to the bench but Randell Williams misses out altogether with injury.

Just the one alteration for Wigan from their key 2-0 win over Exeter. Callum Wright comes back in for Caylan Vickers, who is among the subs.

It's a tense atmosphere at Exeter City as the Grecians look to try and stay out of the League One relegation places.

City have not won in 13 games - a run dating back more than two months - and are now only outside the bottom four on goal difference.

Interim manager Matt Taylor makes five changes with goalkeeper Jack Bycroft making his league debut after Joe Whitworth failed a late fitness test.

City also bring in veteran midfielder Kevin McDonald for his first league start of the season at the age of 37.

Former Exeter winger Dimitri Mitchell makes his first appearance at St James Park since leaving last summer for the O's, who are on a four-game winning streak.

  14. The battle at the bottom of League One ensuespublished at 14:56 GMT 28 March

Today promises to be a crucial Saturday in the race to avoid relegation from League One.

Four of the five sides currently occupying the places between 17th and 21st play each other and it could lead to further congestion in the battle to survive - only six points currently separate those sides.

Blackpool, currently in the relegation zone, welcome Burton Albion to Bloomfield Road having shown signs of life in recent weeks. They fought off Port Vale in their most recent home game before earning an impressive point at promotion chasers Cardiff City last Saturday.

Burton, meanwhile, are hoping to put further ground between themselves and the bottom four having upset play-off hopefuls Bradford City in their last outing.

At St James Park, another intriguing clash takes place. Exeter City boss Matt Taylor awaits his first victory since returning to succeed Gary Caldwell, and the Grecians have lost their past five on the bounce, while visiting Leyton Orient are flying and have won their past four to pull clear of the drop zone for the time being.

Meanwhile, Wycombe Wanderers - who still maintain hopes of clinching a play-off place before the season concludes - host rock bottom Port Vale, who have games in hand on the sides above them but who are running out of time if they're to stage a great escape.

  15. Will magical journey continue for Hatters?published at 14:54 GMT 28 March

Stockport have been on a relatively fast-track mission to reach the Championship.

County were playing National League North football only seven years ago and came agonisingly close to the second tier last season but missed out on automatic promotion by five points to Wrexham and then lost to Leyton Orient on penalties in the play-off semi-final.

If the Hatters are to go up this season, the play-offs seem the most likely route with a nearly insurmountable 17-point gap to Cardiff in second.

Dave Challinor's side have recovered from suffering three straight league defeats for the first time this season by picking up four points in the past two games to keep their fate firmly in their own hands.

Their visitors AFC Wimbledon are without a win in three (D1 L2) and look relatively safe from the drop with an eight-point cushion to Blackpool in 21st, but they won't want to get sucked in late in the campaign.

  16. Memories of 2013...published at 14:52 GMT 28 March

    Reading v Wigan (15:00 GMT)

Cast your mind back 13 years. These two sides were both playing in the Premier League and Wigan even went on to famously win the FA Cup in 2013, despite getting relegated from the top flight.

Reading also went down that season and the Royals and Latics have somewhat followed each other around ever since with both slipping from the Championship into League One in 2022-23.

But that is where the parallel journeys end, for this season at least, with Reading pushing hard for a play-off place and Wigan just hoping to avoid another relegation - something which seemed unfathomable on that day under Roberto Martinez at Wembley more than a decade ago.

Victory for the hosts will take them into the top six, while the Latics will move six points clear of the bottom four with a win.

Big game at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Stockport have the opportunity to regain a firmer grip on a play-off place this afternoon and victory over AFC Wimbledon will move them four points clear of Plymouth in seventh with a game still in hand over Argyle.

Reading will also be hoping to muscle into the top six against relegation-battling Wigan, who are three points above the drop zone and will be aiming to boost their survival hopes.

Blackpool face Burton, while Exeter host Leyton Orient in two games with big permutations in the scrap at the bottom.

Not forgetting Wycombe, who will close the gap to the play-offs with a win over bottom side Port Vale who have an FA Cup quarter-final at Premier League Chelsea on the horizon.

Christian Fuchs' Newport County have a chance to make progress in their bid to pull clear of the League Two relegation zone when they welcome Shrewsbury Town this afternoon.

They'll have been keeping tabs on Harrogate's defeat by Notts County at lunchtime, while relegation rivals Crawley Town are also in action against faltering Gillingham, who have lost their past four.

Rejuvenated Bristol Rovers have won four of their past five to ensure their longstanding relegation battle is a distant memory - they can pull even closer to mid-table Accrington Stanley if they were to beat them at the Memorial Stadium today.

Walsall are another side who appear to have turned a corner since the sacking of Mat Sadler. They've claimed seven points from their past three matches and head to Colchester United this afternoon aiming to keep pace with the play-off incumbents.

At the County Ground, fifth-placed Swindon Town continue their own push for an automatic promotion spot as they welcome Fleetwood Town - the Cod Army have no relegation worries but would have to put together quite a run in the remaining games to trouble the play-off spaces.

    Barrow v Bromley (15:00 GMT)

Bromley manager Andy Woodman has revealed his side's extraordinary unbeaten run has led him to upgrade 'Project 73' to 'Project Champions'.

The League Two leaders are closing in on promotion on the back of a 21-match undefeated streak, having already eclipsed their 73-point target for the season.

As they prepare to travel to bottom-of-the-table Barrow this afternoon, Woodman has told his squad they should not settle for anything less than the title now, having been top since 29 December.

"At the beginning of the season, I always do goal-setting," the 54-year-old told the BBC 72+ EFL podcast.

"I do that not with just the team but with the whole football club - the chefs, everyone. Make them all a part of it. We called it 'Project 73' and we told no one outside the building. It was kept quiet.

"But once we got close to 73 and we had a lot of games left, I started calling it 'Project Champions' in-house."

The Bluebirds have slipped to the foot of the table after taking just two points from their past eight games, winning one of their 15 games in 2026.

Player interim-head coach Sam Foley is their fifth boss of the campaign but Barrow have not scored in their past four home games.

  20. Ammies welcome MK for promotion showdownpublished at 14:44 GMT 28 March

Salford v MK Dons (15:00 GMT)

MK boss Paul Warne grits his teethImage source, Shutterstock

Another whopping game likely to have a big impact on the promotion picture in League Two.

Second-placed MK Dons head to Salford, led by former MK hero Karl Robinson, seeking to close a five-point gap to leaders Bromley with seven games remaining.

Meanwhile, their hosts are five points behind the automatic promotion places but also only five points clear in the play-off race, and some in-form teams are chasing them.

The Ammies were dealt a blow and handed their first defeat in five games as they were edged-out 1-0 at third-placed Cambridge last Saturday, but have won their past three at home.

MK will be seeking to bounce back after suffering their first defeat in 15 games a week ago when they were stunned 3-1 at home by Barnet.

Paul Warne’s side are, however, unbeaten in seven on their travels and last tasted defeat away from home on New Year’s Day.

    One not to miss.
