    Portsmouth 0-0 Charlton

Harvey Blair is looking very lively for Portsmouth. He leads a promising counter-attack for Pompey and sends in another great ball but Charlton are able to put it behind for a corner.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:05 GMT 29 December 2025

    Stoke 0-2 Sheff Utd

Not one, not two, not three, but FOUR changes from Mark Robins as his side look to peg back a two-goal deficit.

Ben Pearson, Jun-ho Bae, Lamine Cissé and Robert Boženík replace Stephan Nzonzi, Million Manhoef, Divin Mubama and Sam Gallagher.

Kitchen sink well and truly thrown.

  3. 'Very decent half for Blues'published at 21:04 GMT 29 December 2025

    HT: Birmingham 0-0 Southampton

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

It's a very decent performance from a makeshift Birmingham side.

They haven't had as much of the ball but they've created far more chances.

Chris Davies will be the happier of the two managers.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:04 GMT 29 December 2025

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Blackburn

Rovers skipper Todd Cantwell looks a bit exasperated as he is fouled twice in the space of seconds by Jamal Lowe.

He could have been booked for the first challenge, so there are no complaints about the second.

Lowe's close attentions underlining how Cantwell is central to Blackburn's play.

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 21:03 GMT 29 December 2025

    Birmingham 0-0 Southampton

An entertaining half but it's goalless at the break between two sides looking to reignite their play-off bids.

Kyogo Furuhashi had two very presentable chances for Birmingham, lifting over the bar when played in by Jay Stansfield and then slicing a long way wide when it kindly dropped to him in the area after a goalmouth scramble.

Adam Armstrong has also gone close twice for Saints, while Finn Azaz was denied early on.

All to play for in the second 45.

  6. INJURY TIMEpublished at 21:02 GMT 29 December 2025

    Norwich 0-0 Watford

There has not been a draw between these two at Carrow Road in the past 16 meetings with eight wins apiece.

Could this be the night we get a stalemate?

Both are struggling to create a clearcut chance.

  9. 'Close call for Saints'published at 21:01 GMT 29 December 2025

    Birmingham 0-0 Southampton

    Jo Tessem
Ex-Southampton midfielder on BBC Radio Solent

I think that would have gone straight in off the back post, it luckily hits the crossbar and goes out.

It's a really well whipped in cross from the free-kick.

  10. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:01 GMT 29 December 2025

    Birmingham 0-0 Southampton

What an effort this is by Paik Seung-ho for Birmingham! He fires in a powerful, dipping free-kick from wide on the left and it clips the top of the crossbar with Saints keeper Gavin Bazunu seemingly struggling to get there.

  11. Postpublished at 21:00 GMT 29 December 2025

    Portsmouth 0-0 Charlton

More promise for Pompey as Harvey Blair fizzes a dangerous ball across the face of goal but it's gathered by Charlton keeper Thomas Kaminski.

    Birmingham 0-0 Southampton

The first yellow card of the night at St Andrew's goes to Saints defender Nathan Wood.

Kyogo Furuhashi tries to skip past Wood just inside the Southampton half but is brought down.

There is a huge scramble in the area from the resulting free-kick and it ends with Furuhashi slicing wide.

    Tom Cannon (53 mins)

From bad to worse for the Potters...

A short corner routine works wonders for the visitors, and Tom Cannon is left in acres of space at the back post to volley home.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:57 GMT 29 December 2025

    Leicester 2-1 Derby

Ricardo Pereira was rested by Leicester tonight with Hamza Choudhury starting but the Bangladesh international is injured and cannot continue.

On comes Pereira to resume with the skipper's armband as well.

  17. Postpublished at 20:56 GMT 29 December 2025

    Millwall 1-1 Bristol City

Bristol City have raced out of the blocks in this second 45.

Adam Randell has equalised and Sinclair Armstrong and Anis Mehmeti have shot wide.

    Millwall rocking a little.

What has Kim Hellberg instructed his players at half-time?

It is now five halves of football without a goal for Boro after those four straight wins in the Swede's first four games.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 20:56 GMT 29 December 2025

    Portsmouth 0-0 Charlton

Mackenzie Kirk curls one on target from the edge of the box for Pompey but it's well saved by Thomas Kaminski in the Charlton goal.

    Jairo Riedewald (47 mins)

Sheffield United's Jairo Riedewald celebratesImage source, PA Media

File this one under 'they all count.'

It's not pretty but the away fans won't care one bit. A free-kick isn't dealt with and when the ball comes back into the area Jairo Riedewald makes his leg the longest and pokes the ball under Viktor Johansson.

There are desperate attempts to keep the ball out from the Stoke defence, but not before it has trickled across the line.

The Blades spent the first third of the season in the bottom three. As it stands, they are now seven points clear of it.
