    Middlesbrough 0-1 Hull

It's worth stating that if Hull hang on, they will be only two points behind Middlesbrough, with Ipswich in between them, level on points with the Tigers but with a superior goal difference.

That's how significant this would be.

  8. goal

GOAL: Portsmouth 1-0 Charltonpublished at 21:12 GMT 29 December 2025

    Conor Shaughnessy (69 mins)

A big goal in the Championship relegation battle!

The four substitutes have made a difference!

Another strike that isn't exactly easy on the eye but the ball is over the line and that's all the home fans will care about.

Chaos ensues from a long throw-in and it's defender Ben Wilmot who fires home off the crossbar when the ball eventually breaks for him. Game on!

  11. Postpublished at 21:10 GMT 29 December 2025

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Hull

Alex Bangura with a looping volley, but Ivor Pandur is behind it to save.

    Neil Maddison

Hull can't keep hold of the ball, so they've thought we'll have to defend and you'll have to try and break us down.

  19. Encouraging for North Endpublished at 21:07 GMT 29 December 2025

    Wrexham 1-0 Preston North End

    Ian Mitchelmore
BBC Sport Wales at Stok Cae Ras

The Lilywhites really should be level.

Thierry Small had a decent effort minutes ago, but Alfie Devine has just spurned a fine chance to make it 1-1.

He is left totally unmarked at the back post from a corner, but the Tottenham Hotspur loanee volleys into the side netting.

It's been more encouraging from the Lancashire outfit in this second half, mind.
