Swansea head coach Vitor Matos and his Portsmouth counterpart John Mousinho are adversaries tonight as their teams vie for crucial points in their respective quests to escape the Championship relegation scrap.

But they are as one when it comes to touchline style, dressed almost identically in black jackets and trousers with box-fresh white trainers.

    Serious football analysis only here.

    Charlie McNeill (17 mins)

Sheffield Wednesday make the breakthrough at Vicarage Road!

Can Watford respond? They're unbeaten in their past nine league games against the Owls, remember.

  4. CLOSE!published at 20:02 GMT 9 December 2025

    Blackburn 0-0 Oxford

    So close for Blackburn!

Two bites of the cherry for Taylor Gardner-Hickman. First he works onto Andri Gudjohnsen's headed delivery and unleashes a left-footed shot from close range having been put through clean on goal.

Jamie Cumming makes the save, Gardner-Hickman looks alive as he gets onto the rebound but his headed effort goes wide of the target.

  5. 'Norwich staff will be looking for a solution'published at 20:02 GMT 9 December 2025

    Sheffield United 0-0 Norwich

    Ryan Bennett
Former Norwich defender on BBC Radio Norfolk

Norwich have started games well but in the second half of games they have just tailed off. People might say that is down to fitness but it could be down to tactical decisions. Maybe the half-time talk isn't quite right.

There will be plenty of staff trying to figure out an answer to try to rectify it.

  6. goal

A mess at the back by West Bromwich Albion and Southampton double their lead!

The Baggies have absolutely handed the goal to Saints there, Nat Phillips gifts possession to Adam Armstrong, who gives Albion goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith the eyes before calmly slots the ball into the net.

Southampton have been blowing sides away in the first half as of late and this impressive theme seems to be continuing!

  7. Postpublished at 20:01 GMT 9 December 2025

    Charlton 0-0 Middlesbrough

Boro have a great opportunity to whip a free-kick in from the right-hand side but Matt Targett's delivery is really poor and goes straight down the throat of Thomas Kaminski.

    Leo Scienza (12 mins)

The Saints are ahead and it's that man Leo Scienza!

Scienza scores his first home Southampton goal. He's had such an impressive start to life at St Mary's.

Tom Fellows - who is playing against his former club - goes on a long run deep into Albion territory before slipping the ball to his team-mate, who finishes with ease.

  10. CLOSE!published at 19:57 GMT 9 December 2025

A loose ball is almost pounced upon in the Norwich penalty area but Tom Cannon cannot get in front of Canaries keeper Vladan Kovacevic, who rushes out of his goal well to parry the ball out for a corner.

Conor Chaplin has an effort saved from close range by Swansea keeper Lawrence Vigouroux after some good work on the wing by Josh Murphy.

  12. Postpublished at 19:56 GMT 9 December 2025

    Blackburn 0-0 Oxford

Well this game has got under way despite the wet and wild weather that's battered some of the country.

A reminder that Saturday's fixture at Ewood Park between Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday succumbed to the wet weather but so far so good tonight.

Blackburn are forced to defend early on as Luke Harris' corner swings into his Oxford team-mate Greg Leigh, whose header goes just wide of the mark.

  13. CLOSE!published at 19:55 GMT 9 December 2025

    Charlton 0-0 Middlesbrough

What a save from Thomas Kaminski!

Middlesbrough captain Hayden Hackney thinks he's opened the scoring, hitting a powerful left-footed drive from the edge of the area, but the Charlton keeper gets a hand from nowhere to tip the ball over the bar.

I thought we had our first goal of the night in the Championship.

  14. Postpublished at 19:55 GMT 9 December 2025

    Swansea 0-0 Portsmouth

A first half-chance for the hosts in this game.

Swansea work their way into a decent attacking position as Eom Ji-sung uses his pace to get past Terry Devlin but drags a left-footed effort wide of the far post after beating his man.

  15. Postpublished at 19:54 GMT 9 December 2025

  16. CLOSE!published at 19:52 GMT 9 December 2025

    Sheffield United 0-0 Norwich

Couple of chances to tell you about at Bramall Lane early on.

First, a cut back almost finds Blades striker Tom Cannon who would have had a great chance at opening the scoring but Norwich defender Ruairi McConville made a vital interception inside his own six yard box.

At the other end, Norwich midfielder Jacob Wright, returning to the side tonight, bends an effort just wide from outside the box.

Sakamoto could be key tonight for Coventry. Happy for him to be back in the line up.

    Kieran

HMS Promotion may have taken a slight bump vs Ipswich but we should be back to our regular routine tonight. Preston 1-3 Coventry.

    Mitchell

Two wins at Deepdale in 115 years. Zero in the league, last in the League Cup. Gotta be tonight surely!

    Ben

Yes it is a remarkable record that Coventry have at Preston, with no league wins at all at the home of North End in 23 attempts - is tonight the night that changes?
