  1. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:40 GMT 9 December 2025

    Charlton 0-2 Middlesbrough

That is half-time and Boro are indeed two clear!

The visitors have been on top since the first whistle and goals from Riley McGree and Morgan Whittaker, whose strike was virtually the last kick of the half, has put them in total control of this one.

With Coventry currently level, they are set to close the gap to the league leaders to just five points tonight.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:38 GMT 9 December 2025

    Watford 0-1 Sheff Wed

Charlie McNeill's assured finish gives Sheffield Wednesday a deserved lead at the break at Watford.

Can the Championship strugglers end a 12-game winless run?

  3. goal

GOAL: Charlton 0-2 Middlesbroughpublished at 20:38 GMT 9 December 2025

    Morgan Whittaker (45+3 mins)

Right on half-time, Boro double their lead!

Riley McGree is influential once more, slips the ball into the path of Morgan Whittaker and, on his weaker right foot, he beats Thomas Kaminski at his near post - a finish of a man in form.

That will be the last act of the first half - Boro will be two to the good at the interval.

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:37 GMT 9 December 2025

    Southampton 3-0 West Bromwich Albion

There we go then, the whistle goes and what a half that was by Southampton.

They have absolutely outclassed West Bromwich Albion in that first half and look to be continuing their red-hot form in the Championship.

Albion boss Ryan Mason has plenty of work to do at the break.

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:37 GMT 9 December 2025

    Preston 0-0 Coventry

Liam Lindsay sent offImage source, PA Media

Preston are holding the league leaders at the break but at what cost?

Liam Lindsay's sending-off for bringing down Haji Wright gives Coventry a man advantage.

But can the Sky Blues make the most of it to get their first ever league win at Preston and extend their lead at the top of the table?

  6. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:36 GMT 9 December 2025

    Blackburn 0-1 Oxford

Ciaron Brown's goal on the stroke of half-time gives Oxford a huge lead at the break against Blackburn.

A huge game at the bottom of the table.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:34 GMT 9 December 2025

    Sheffield United 0-0 Norwich

Half-time and we remain goalless at Bramall Lane.

Danny Ings undoubtedly spurned the best chance of the half when he headed over the bar completely unmarked from three yards out.

But Norwich have played well, and Josh Sargent came close twice before having to be withdrawn just before half-time due to an untimely injury.

Decent match this one but no goals to tell you about just yet.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:34 GMT 9 December 2025

    Swansea 0-0 Portsmouth

The referee blows his whistle to end the first half.

There is a worry for Portsmouth though as Callum Lang goes down just before the whistle and is helped off as he hobbles off and the players head back down the tunnel.

We will keep an eye on that and see if he reappears for the second period.

  9. 'Sargent is a disappointing loss'published at 20:33 GMT 9 December 2025

    Sheffield United 0-0 Norwich

    Ryan Bennett
Former Norwich defender on BBC Radio Norfolk

Sometimes football is like that. It is really disappointing. Hopefully it will only be a week or 10 days, I wouldn't expect to see him on Saturday though that's for sure.

  10. CLOSE!published at 20:32 GMT 9 December 2025

    QPR 0-0 Birmingham

A threatening header across the face of the goal finds QPR winger Paul Smyth but he can only head his effort straight at Blues keeper James Beadle.

    Chance that for the hosts.

  11. Postpublished at 20:32 GMT 9 December 2025

    Southampton 3-0 West Bromwich Albion

The referee indicates there will be a minimum of three minutes added time at St Mary's.

  12. goal

GOAL: Blackburn 0-1 Oxfordpublished at 20:31 GMT 9 December 2025

    Ciaron Brown (45+1 mins)

Brilliant time to score if you're Oxford.

Not a great time for Blackburn.

Ciaron Brown strikes for the visitors right on the stroke of half-time and that's a huge goal at the bottom of the Championship.

  13. INJURY TIMEpublished at 20:31 GMT 9 December 2025

    Swansea 0-0 Portsmouth

We will play two minutes of additional time before the break.

We talked about key moments, that could be one of them. Lindsay thinks he will get there but Wright has all the power and strength.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:30 GMT 9 December 2025

    Sheffield United 0-0 Norwich

Blow for the Canaries, Josh Sargent has picked up an injury late on in the first half and has to be replaced by Amankwah Forson.

  16. Postpublished at 20:29 GMT 9 December 2025

    Preston 0-0 Coventry

What comes of the free-kick that was awarded to Coventry after Liam Lindsay's sending off?

    Well, not a lot.

Victor Torp's effort is well blocked and moments later Luke Woolfenden's header sails past the wrong side of the upright.

  17. Postpublished at 20:28 GMT 9 December 2025

    Swansea 0-0 Portsmouth

Swansea come close but it's a brilliant save...

Melker Widell swivels and shoots in the box but Pompey keeper Nicolas Schmid is on hand to produce a sharp save and keep the score level.

Saints! Unbelievable transformation since the new manager took the reins.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:25 GMT 9 December 2025

    Southampton 3-0 West Bromwich Albion

Things go from bad to worse for West Bromwich Albion as they're forced into making a change.

Alex Mowatt has not looked entirely comfortable in the past few moments and comes off for Jayson Molumby.

  20. RED CARD - Preston down to 10 menpublished at 20:25 GMT 9 December 2025

    Preston 0-0 Coventry

Coventry really ought to be 1-0 up. And, given Middlesbrough have taken the lead at Charlton, what better time to do it?

Haji Wright is fouled in the box by Liam Lindsay and the Preston man is shown a straight red.

However, the foul seemingly took place outside the box so no penalty given, just a free-kick on the edge of the D.
