A big game for determining the trajectory of these two clubs in the League One promotion race.

Luton are seventh, just two places but seven points below the Bantams, who got back on track after three straight defeats with a 1-0 win over Doncaster last time out.

The Hatters ended a three-game winless streak of their own with a 1-0 home win over Blackpool last Saturday and have not lost at Kenilworth Road since Mansfield’s 2-0 success on 18 October, a run of nine games, their best home run in nearly seven years.

Bradford won the reverse fixture 2-1 in August, their first win over the Hatters since 1968 but have lost four of their past five away games, in fact since the start of last season of their 19 defeats in total, 15 have come on the road.

Burton Albion take the short trip to Burslem in a League One basement battle as bottom side Port Vale await.

The Brewers recent dismal form, in which they have picked up just one point from a possible 12 in recent weeks, has seen them drop into the relegation zone on goal difference as their nine-year stay in the third-tier looks in serious jeopardy.

Recent history proves good reading for Albion fans, however, with their side winning on each of their past three visits to Vale Park since 2016.

The Valiants picked up three points last Saturday, beating Leyton Orient 1-0, a victory which halted their previous 11-game winless run of matches played on a Saturday but a 1-0 home defeat by AFC Wimbledon in midweek means they still remain 10 points from safety.

Can they begin their great escape this lunchtime or will Albion claim a rare away win and start their voyage up the table?

Big afternoon in the third tier, this.

The day begins with a play-off battle and a relegation scrap at lunchtime as Bradford head to Luton, trying to regain their footing in the promotion race, while basement-boys Port Vale host third-bottom Burton.

Then later Lincoln will try to extend their 12-game unbeaten streak on the road at Plymouth, with the chance to overhaul leaders Cardiff should they falter at fourth-bottom Rotherham, while Bolton welcome Barnsley, Stockport host Leyton Orient and Huddersfield entertain Blackpool trying to keep up the pace.

At the other end struggling Northampton, Wigan and Doncaster will seek to move up the table against opposition from the mid-table pack.

  4. Robins set sights on top threepublished at 12:12 GMT 7 February

    Swindon v Oldham (12:31 GMT)

Swindon can move into the automatic promotion spots if they avoid defeat today, although that could be just for a few hours ahead of Cambridge's game at Harrogate at 15:01 GMT.

The Robins, who go into this looking to make it three wins in a row, are unbeaten in their past eight league games against Oldham (W5 D3), winning each of the last four.

Oldham face a tough trip to the County Ground on the back of two defeats on the bounce. The Latics will be looking to avoid losing three in succession for the first time this season.

Micky Mellon's side's recent away form has not been great either winning just once in their past five.

  5. Two sides aiming to go four unbeatenpublished at 12:10 GMT 7 February

    Crawley v Crewe (12:31 GMT)

Crawley are unbeaten in their past three games keeping clean sheets in each of those outings (W2 D1) – they’ve never had a longer streak without conceding in the EFL.

Scott Lindsey's side are six points adrift the drop zone and will welcome the same outcome today to give themselves further breathing space.

Crewe are also unbeaten in their past three (W1 D2) but have not won in their past five outings on the road.

The Railwaymen are unbeaten across their past eight games against the Red Devils in League Two as Lee Bell's side look to keep their play-off hope alive sitting five points from those places.

  6. Bromley to go further clear at summit?published at 12:08 GMT 7 February

    League Two

All Swindon will want to do is avoid defeat at Fleetwood in the early kick-off but Ian Holloway will obviously want more to nestle into the top three and hope in-form Cambridge falter at bottom side Harrogate later. Will the U's keep on winning? They'll certainly hope so if they're to remain with the automatic promotion pack.

Crewe will want to keep their promotion hopes alive when they travel to Crawley in the other early game.

Later leaders Bromley could extend their lead at the top if they overcome Fleetwood. Notts County will have their chance to close the gap though if the Ravens slip up with the Magpies hosting Barrow.

At the other end of the table, Shrewsbury will be looking to build on their draw against Barnet to keep them away from the danger zone when they travel to Colchester while Newport, who are just a point off the Shrews, host play-off chasing Grimsby in the hope a positive result improves the Exiles' chance of survival.

All matches in the Championship, League One and League Two will kick off one minute later than usual in this round of games to raise awareness for the Every Minute Matters campaign.

The initiative is in place for all 36 matches across the three divisions between 5 and 9 February.

EFL sponsor Sky Bet and the British Heart Foundation (BHF) have been working together since May 2024 to highlight the importance of speed when it comes to performing life-saving CPR.

Later kick-off times will serve as "a stark reminder that every minute matters", the EFL said.
