Birmingham yet again conceding first, yet again in the first 15 minutes away from home. A true Jekyll and Hyde team home and away.

  2. Nervy start for Swanseapublished at 15:16 GMT 6 December 2025

    Swansea 0-0 Oxford

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at the Swansea.com Stadium

It's been a nervy opening for Swansea City, who look like a team aiming to avoid a sixth successive league defeat.

Confidence is in short supply within a squad who did not expect to be facing a relegation scrap this season.

Swansea need to dig out a result from somewhere, but you get the impression nothing will come easy this afternoon against an Oxford side buoyed last weekend's win over Ipswich.

  3. Postpublished at 15:16 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sheff Utd 1-0 Stoke

Well how's this for a stat.

If Sheffield United win this game, they will be eight points behind Stoke.

What a difference a month makes! The Blades were in all kinds of peril when Chris Wilder walked back through the door but as it stands they're five clear of the drop zone.

  4. Postpublished at 15:14 GMT 6 December 2025

    Ipswich 0-0 Coventry

The hosts have had the better of things so far but we've seen the first glimpse of the dangerous long throw from Coventry's Milan van Ewijk, but Town keeper Christian Walton is alert to the danger and claims the ball high at his near post with Ellis Simms trying to get on the end of it.

  5. 'Brilliant finish from Azaz'published at 15:13 GMT 6 December 2025

    Southampton 1-0 Birmingham City

That's a brilliant finish by Finn Azaz on the edge of the box, he really is in red-hot form right now for Southampton.

The home fans enjoyed that one, a drilled shot into the bottom-corner for what is his seventh league goal of the campaign.

Nice play in the build-up to the goal by Leo Scienza who has looked dangerous in these early exchanges.

  6. Postpublished at 15:12 GMT 6 December 2025

    Ipswich 0-0 Coventry

Lively start to this big game and we've had our first shot.

Tuesday's late hero Sindre Walle Egeli cuts inside and unleashes a shot which is too close to Sky Blues keeper Carl Rushworth.

I say Sky Blues, today they're playing in their change strip which I am reliably informed is a colour known as 'hot coral.'

    Game's gone, right?

  7. goal

GOAL: Sheff Utd 1-0 Stokepublished at 15:11 GMT 6 December 2025

    Mark McGuinness (10 min)

    The hosts hit the front!

A great start from the Blades and it comes from the back through Mark McGuinness.

The centre-back had already gave them a warning with an earlier header and Stoke didn't learn, as he powered home from a Gustavo Hamer ball in from the corner.

  8. Postpublished at 15:10 GMT 6 December 2025

    Blackburn 0-0 Sheff Wed

Nothing in the way of goalmouth action in the early stages at Ewood Park but the hosts are bossing the ball and doing most of the pressing, seeking to put the memories of two injury-time goals in their past two games behind them.

  9. Postpublished at 15:08 GMT 6 December 2025

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Stoke

Early sighter for the visitors as Junior Tchamadeu shoots from distance but it catches a nick on the way through and is a simple gather for Blades goalkeeper Michael Cooper.

  10. goal

    Finn Azaz (6 mins)

It's that man again... Finn Azaz bags his sixth goal in five games.

The Ireland international is teed up on the edge of the box after good work from Leo Scienza. He skips away from trouble and finishes into the bottom corner.

Perfect start for Saints and new boss Tonda Eckert.

  11. Dream start for visitorspublished at 15:07 GMT 6 December 2025

    Preston North End 0-1 Wrexham

    Ian Mitchelmore
    BBC Sport Wales at Deepdale

I just mentioned those 3,500 or so fans in the away end... they've just gone berserk!

The hosts fail to clear their lines, and Kieffer Moore has a tap-in at the back post.

He scored the winner here when the sides met in the EFL Cup in August, and he's got another one at Deepdale.

A dream start for Phil Parkinson's men.

  12. 'It's going to be an interesting contest'published at 15:05 GMT 6 December 2025

    Ipswich 0-0 Coventry

    Mick Mills
Former Ipswich and England captain on BBC Radio Suffolk

Both teams are having a look at their opponents here.

Coventry are not taking any risks by playing around at the back.

It's going to be an interesting contest.

  13. goal

GOAL: Preston 0-1 Wrexhampublished at 15:05 GMT 6 December 2025

    Kieffer Moore (4 mins)

    What a start...

It's been a lively start at both ends but James McClean's inswinging cross is pushed away by North End keeper Daniel Iversen to prevent it sneaking inside the far post but only as far as Kieffer Moore who taps into the unguarded net from three yards out.

Is eight unbeaten about to become nine?

  14. 'Two sides with play-off ambitions'published at 15:04 GMT 6 December 2025

    Preston North End 0-0 Wrexham

    Ian Mitchelmore
    BBC Sport Wales at Deepdale

There's a great buzz here at Deepdale for this one.

Two sides who have play-off ambitions going at it.

Wrexham have brought just shy of 3,500 fans here today, and the rain isn't dampening the spirits of anyone inside this iconic ground so far.

Hello from St Mary's ahead for Tonda Eckert's first game as official Southampton first team manager after he was given the job permanently last night.

Birmingham City have been so good at home this season but have struggled on the road, only winning twice away in the Championship all campaign.

Their fans have completely packed out the away end across from me inside the ground today, the home support is also pretty much at capacity.

Blustery conditions in here today, the rain is also just starting to come down.

  17. How they standpublished at 14:59 GMT 6 December 2025

    Championship table

A quick look at what the early results have done to the table.

Wins for Leicester and Watford have put both back within sight of the play-offs.

Derby drop to 13th but the fear of relegation must be getting really real for Norwich, who just seem incapable of keeping the opposition from scoring.

A big couple hours ahead still of course with several sides in the mix at the top - and the bottom - all in action in our eight games to come.

Chris Wilder is turning United around and they’ve turned up the PA here at Bramall Lane. The techno is pumping - Da Hool’s Take her to the Love Parade to be specific!

On the pitch they were blistering in being two up inside five minutes at Leicester - they won out 3-2 in the end.

The Blades boss says he’s keen on keeping Patrick Bamford beyond his short term January deal. The ex-Leeds striker starts - he has one in three.

For Stoke they lost at home to Hull in the 90th minute, with Mark Robins furious at full time. They’re now six points off the automatics.

Sorba Thomas continues to be their bright spark. The Welshman has scored seven so far. Manchester City youngster Divin Mubama, get his chance up top as dance remix of Seven Nation Army blasts out!

  19. Razor-sharp Blades face league's toughest defencepublished at 14:55 GMT 6 December 2025

Chris Wilder raises his fist in celebrationImage source, Getty Images

Fish n chips, ham and cheese, spaghetti and meatballs, Chris Wilder and Sheffield United.

Some things just go so well together. You might one day decide to branch out but you'll always return to your favourites.

And after a shaky start, it's showing signs of once again being a recipe for success for the Blades.

They've won three in a row and are unbeaten in four but face a stern test at Bramall Road this afternoon.

Stoke boast the league's best defence and sit fourth in the table. A win for Mark Robins' side coupled with defeat for Millwall would lift them up to third and within three points of the automatic promotion spots.

  20. The ultimate mid-table meetingpublished at 14:54 GMT 6 December 2025

QPR v West Brom (15:00 GMT)

Same points. Slightly negative goal differences. Twelfth v 13th.

If you wrote these two team names down on sheets of paper and left them at either end of an empty banquet table, somehow they'd find their way to the middle.

About as mid-table as it gets, this one.

The Baggies have had the upper hand when these two sides have met in recent times, undefeated in six and winning four of those.

While the Rs will want to improve on their home form - just three wins in their past 14 league matches at Loftus Road.
