  1. Red Dragons aim to extend unbeaten streakpublished at 14:52 GMT 6 December 2025

    Preston v Wrexham (15:00 GMT)

Preston will seek to avoid back-to-back home league defeats for the first time since April while Wrexham head north on the Championship's current longest unbeaten run of eight games.

The Lilywhites' proud home record has faltered, with their two defeats in their past four games at Deepdale as many as they suffered in their previous 21 games, from which they took 33 points.

Phil Parkinson's Red Dragons have alternated between a victory (4) and a draw (4) across their eight matches unbeaten... pattern fans will note they snatched a last-gasp 1-1 draw against Blackburn in their last game last Saturday - it was their eighth draw of the season, more than any other side in the top four tiers of English football.

Wrexham sit 10th but could draw level on points with the top-six with a win while fifth-placed North End could lie anywhere from third to eighth depending how they get on here.

  2. Robins look to leapfrog Lions with home winpublished at 14:50 GMT 6 December 2025

Bristol City v Millwall (15:00 GMT)

Who will finish in the play-off spots is anyone's guess at this point.

In fact it's so close that third-placed Millwall could find themselves as low as eighth by the end of the weekend.

While the Robins could move up to third should they secure a victory and Stoke and Preston fail to win their games.

Millwall's 31 points from 18 games is their best start to a second season since in 2001-02 in the old Division One.

However, they have lost their past two games on the road and were were beaten 4-3 in a thrilling game at Ashton Gate last season.

    Another seven goals today, please!

  3. 'Battle of the net busters'published at 14:47 GMT 6 December 2025

    Ipswich v Coventry (15:00 GMT)

    Marc Webber
BBC Final Score commentator at Portman Road

Welcome to the battle of the net busters.

Coventry scoring more league goals than European giants Bayern Munich and PSV so far this season; Ipswich third highest scorers in the league with 30 to date.

However, the free-scoring Midlanders are starting to see injuries hit their squad. Victor Torp is missing today due to failing a late fitness test; no Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and top scorer Brandon Thomas-Asante unlikely to return from a hamstring injury until the new year. And they've got two keepers on the bench to meet their subs quota.

Better news for Ipswich Town fans, where Sam Szmodics makes it back to the bench after injury.

That’s swung the early mood in the tea bars to a more positive feeling for Ipswich fans, whereas some Coventry supporters seem happy to take a point today.

Game of the day? You won't find too many arguments.

Ipswich, freshly down from the Premier League, welcome a Coventry side on pace to get there in a hurry themselves.

While Frank Lampard's side have won 11 of their past 12 games, have scored 50 goals in 18 games and have a seven-point lead at the top, with a game in hand, Ipswich are one point outside the play-off places after a defeat at Oxford United last weekend was followed by a last-gasp draw at Blackburn in Town's game in hand on Tuesday.

Kieran McKenna's men have taken 13 points from the past six encounters, to City's four, and Town did the double over the Sky Blues when they last met in 2023/24, but this is a different Sky Blues.

"It's going to be a big challenge and we're going to be tested," McKenna told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"We back ourselves in every situation and against every opponent, but it's not going to be easy so we're going to need the crowd and create a proper Portman Road atmosphere to give ourselves the best chance to win the game."

  5. Rovers seek to avoid late drama against Owlspublished at 14:43 GMT 6 December 2025

Blackburn v Sheff Wed (15:00 GMT)

Blackburn will look to put the frustration of their draw against Ipswich on Tuesday behind them as they welcome basement-boys Sheffield Wednesday to Ewood Park.

Rovers boss Valerien Ismael was vocal about his disappointment in refereeing decisions that did not go their way during their controversial replayed game against the Tractor Boys which saw them concede an injury-time equaliser for the second time in four days.

But now they face an Owls side on a 12-match winless run and effectively 28 points shy of safety with 28 games remaining. Their four-match losing streak is their worst in nearly five years.

The good news for boss Henrik Pedersen is that keeper Piece Charles could return this afternoon and Wednesday have a good recent record against Rovers, taking 11 points from the past six meetings

  6. Swans look to pull out of freefall against Oxfordpublished at 14:41 GMT 6 December 2025

Swansea boss Vitor Matos has lost his first two games

Oxford are looking to build on their best result of the season having downed Kieran McKenna's high-flying Ipswich eight days ago winning 2-1 at the Kassam Stadium.

It was a first win in six league outings for Gary Rowett's men and just the fillip needed ahead of this basement battle against fellow relegation-threatened Swansea.

The pair sit in 20th and 21st place in the table with the south Wales side a point and a place behind Oxford and level with Portsmouth but out of the final relegation place courtesy of a marginally superior goal difference.

The Swans are very much in freefall at the moment having won one in their last 10 and having lost five on the bounce, including the last two under new boss Vitor Matos.

To compound the loss of confidence Swansea led 2-0 at West Brom at half time but capitulated in the second half losing 3-2.

Tonda Eckert has won four out of five as Saints boss

The dream start is over and the hard work begins for Saints new boss Tonda Eckert with the challenge of putting one over a progressive Birmingham side the task in hand in his third game at St Mary's.

Four wins on the bounce, against QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton and Leicester City followed by defeat against MIllwall last Saturday proved enough to land 32-year-old former Barnsley and Genoa assistant the job full time.

After that reality check against Millwall Eckert has to deal with Birmingham, who have won four of their last six and arrive just a point and two places adrift of sixth placed Bristol City in the final play-off spot.

Eckert at least has his forward line firing with 15 goals in his five games. Ireland international Finn Azaz has found the net in the last four games (five goals in four) and Adam Armstrong joining in the fun with three in his last four outings.

In contrast Birmingham have found goals hard to come by on the road with just six. No team in the Championship has fewer goals away from home than Chris Davies's side.

  10. 'Very disappointing in that first half'published at 14:33 GMT 6 December 2025

    FT: Derby 1-3 Leicester

    Darren Robinson
Former Derby coach on BBC Radio Derby

The levels were better in the second half but very disappointing in that first half.

The passing and the lack of energy was so poor.

I'm worried about the period we've got coming up now.

  11. 'Cifuentes and his players needed that one'published at 14:32 GMT 6 December 2025

    FT: Derby 1-3 Leicester

    Owynn Palmer-Atkin

The Foxes showed character and desire and a real strong mindset to get all three points today.

Marti Cifuentes and his players needed that one.

  12. Postpublished at 14:30 GMT 6 December 2025

    FT: Derby 1-3 Leicester

Andi Weimann and City keeper Jakub Stolarcyk have some heated words after the whistle... a real height mis-match that is, but Josh Smith gets it all under control swiftly and City can now go and celebrate with their travelling fans.

Derby were pretty good for more than half of that match, they were just blown away in a 25-minute purple patch in the first half in which City scored all three goals.

They take the points and the East Midlands bragging rights, for now...

The Canaries press late but are unable to pull it back as Watford hang on to move 10th in the table ahead of the 3pm kick offs.

It is a third win in seven for Javi Gracia's men who twice fell behind and twice came back.

Tom Ince has bagged the winner and celebrates with Othmane Maaama who is recording the moment on his mobile phone!

Not the result that Norwich were looking for but there was plenty to feel positive about for the Canaries.

They remain second bottom on 13 points but competed well throughout and could easily have got a point or more from this match.

    Derby 1-3 Leicester

A huge three points for Leicester City. A win which feels like it might just kick-start their season.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid finished a fine early move to break the deadlock, Oliver Skipp thumped home a volley after 15 minutes and Jordan James glances in a cross to make it 3-0 on 31 minutes in a 25-minute purple patch when the Rams could not live with them.

The hosts improved after the break and Sondre Langas thumped home a header to give them hope, but the City defence stood firm through a lot of late pressure to make it four wins in five visits to Pride Park, the most recent more than 12 years ago.
