    Preston 0-0 Norwich

The ball is in the back of the net but it won't count!

Again, Vladan Kovacevic looks unconvincing from a cross from the right and Michael Smith puts the ball in the back of an unguarded net for the home side but the referee blows up for a free-kick to Norwich.

    Looked a little soft that.

    Blackburn 1-0 Millwall

Todd Cantwell tries his luck on the volley from 25 yards and his effort is decent, but doesn't quite enough height on it to get it over Max Crocombe.

The New Zealand goalkeeper is then penalised for holding on to the ball for over eight seconds and gives away a corner.

Cantwell plays a short one and works it back into the area where Crocombe has to come out and smother it behind for another corner.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 12:57 GMT 20 December 2025

    Blackburn 1-0 Millwall

    Ouch!

Lewis Miller meets an aerial ball on the volley before seconds later, he is caught by Camiel Neghli in mid-air.

A sore one for the Aussie and a booking for Neghli.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 12:57 GMT 20 December 2025

    Southampton 0-0 Coventry

Leo Scienza is sent tumbling by Coventry skipper Matt Grimes.

Out comes referee Adam Herczeg's yellow card for the first time today.

Looks a bit harsh to be honest.

Norwich keeper Vladan Kovacevic drops a simple free-kick but Harry Darling bails him out and boots the ball to safety for the visitors.

Saints have got to keep the pressure on now, and have got to find something form this pressure.

    Blackburn 1-0 Millwall

The Lions then manage to work an opening for Mihailo Ivanovic down the inside-left channel, but the Serbia striker is very wide and his effort is low and straight at Aynsley Pears.

    Southampton 0-0 Coventry

A Coventry attack is broken up and away come Southampton.

Finn Azaz's shot on the turn is blocked.

The pace of that counterattack will give the visitors cause for concern.

  9. CLOSE!published at 12:54 GMT 20 December 2025

    Blackburn 1-0 Millwall

    Much better from Millwall.

Aidomo Emakhu with a purposeful run down the right and he fires the cross into the box.

Camiel Neghli arrives late from midfield to meet it, but his volley is just over the top.

  10. Postpublished at 12:54 GMT 20 December 2025

    Preston 0-0 Norwich

From a Norwich corner, Kenny McLean does brilliantly to flick the ball on at the near post but it is well dealt with by the Preston defence.

Good ebb and flow to this one so far.

  11. Postpublished at 12:53 GMT 20 December 2025

    Southampton 0-0 Coventry

Southampton have scored three goals in each of their past four home games, all of which they have won.

They will be disappointed not to have taken one of the opportunities offered so far to Adam Armstrong and Leo Scienza.

Coventry will be satisfied after the first quarter of this one.

  12. Postpublished at 12:52 GMT 20 December 2025

    Preston 0-0 Norwich

Norwich midfielder Jacob Wright is beginning to have an influence on this match and his touches around the corner are starting to look threatening.

After Preston deal with an initial ball in from the right, the ball falls to City midfielder Pelle Mattsson but his volleyed effort from outside the box is blocked by North End skipper Ben Whiteman.

  13. Postpublished at 12:50 GMT 20 December 2025

    Blackburn 1-0 Millwall

A particular oddity for Millwall this season is their goal difference.

They are fourth in the league with a goal difference of minus five, as things stand. Half of their 10 wins have been 1-0, so they are going to have really come out of their shells here.

They are patient and are waiting for their moment to get on the attack.

Southampton are showing Coventry a lot of respect and are playing very deep at the moment.

  19. Postpublished at 12:45 GMT 20 December 2025

    Blackburn 1-0 Millwall

Aidomo Emakhu scored last week against Hull and must fancy his chances.

But his attempted 20-yard curler with his left-foot would be an insult to back passes as it trickles towards Aynsley Pears.

  20. Postpublished at 12:45 GMT 20 December 2025

Great footwork from Preston striker Lewis Dobbin allows him to break clear but his through ball runs through to Norwich keeper Vladan Kovacevic.
